My roommate and I did "stupid roommate Christmas" this year. I tried SO HARD to find a peach candle to buy her, but it was useless. That's how I learned the true spirit of the Candle; it must be given before it can be given away. You cannot buy it.

My boyfriend thought this was too oddly specific to be true. Then I took out a medium-sized plain peach pillar candle from Caldor's I received as a gift in 1997, and he nearly died from laughing. He now also believes in the One True Candle.
Extra points for it being from Caldor...department stores die, The Candle™ lives on.

Also, my mum once got a gift from a friend (something knitted) that had a name pinned on it, and realized it was the name of the person who gave her friend the gift. She'd put the name on there to remember, so she didn't gift it back to the woman who gave it to (or probably made it for) her, but then forgot to take the name off.

I’m from eastern europe and we don’t really have yankee (I buy my candles online) and when you live in a country filled with only crappy 3€ candles smelling like kids crayons then yankee is genuinely a good gift 😂
