doing detassling this summer as well. Looks really easy and I'm sure it's hard and tedious work. I don't mind though I'm 18 and have been put through the ringer with landscaping I'm sure I can handle this. Lots of hours and good pay for a summer job. Friend of mine made around $2400 last summer doing this. Our boss gives us travel bonus, being 18+ bonus, etc. lots of bonuses which I'm sure other people do as well. Great summer job
I start tomorrow :,) Update: It was okay but it ended being one of the worst fields or guider has ever worked at. Second Update: after three days I needed a break. I guess it’s not too bad but this sucks. Last update: It ended up being pretty okay
Well, it sucks. But you get good money for it. You may be slow at first but you'll speed up once you get the hang of it. Do your best, but I will garentee you will have to go back to the field. On the first couple of days, if you're sore, just take a cold bath. It'll feel good. Hats and ponchos are always a good thing to have. You can always make a ponho out of a trash bag. Always bring a poncho in the morning because its going to be wet! Umh, leave your muddy shoes outside when you get home.
may i ask guys, since im new to planting corn, is it really that necessary to detassel a corn? when is the right time to do detassling? here in the philippines nobody does detassling thats why.
EXACTLY! Oh, my, if somebody shows up to work think this is what the tastes will look like, they are in for a surprise!!! They are NOT that obvious! This is VERY misleading and truly should just be deleted from RUclips. Now, off to find a realistic training video for my kid. -Former Detassler and now Mom!!
Thepokeuser That is one reason :) The other reasons are because you'll get a nice glove tan that looks ridiculous, and walking through a corn field is like walking through concertina wire.
You probably already started, but you probably will need a hat, a bandana or something to cover your face and neck, some gloves, a long sleeve shirt, and shorts( it seems to make you chaff less than when you wear jeans), and a poncho because it WILL be wet.
Okay, now I know what I'm doing! I signed up to detassel this year. First year! Wish me luck!
how’d u do
@@nuhuh1615 lol that was 9 years ago
