!!!!!!!!
This game started at almost 10 PM and I live in Dallas area. Insane. NHL has a big problem with start times and actually dropping the puck on time. And this has always been a problem.
They wouldn't drop the puck early til the Bruins/Leafs game. So fucking dumb that we have to wait on a game we don't care about
Logan Thompson was why it went to OT. Dallas should've had at leas 8 goals tonight
Seriously. Anyone who didn't watch the game might say, "yeah, right," but Dallas really did outplay them that badly through most of the game.
For example, shots were 33-17 Dallas after two.
Oettinger too. Despite how great Thompson played, had Oettinger not been outplayed by the opposing net minder yet again, the game finishes 2-1.
Thompson's play tonight reminded me of Otteinger's in the series vs the Flames in 2022.
Not even close lol. I don't think the shames even had ONE breakaway in that series that Oettinger had to stop. Just unrelenting, low danger, unscreened shots thrown from the perimeter in that series by Sutterbuns flames
Only time Oettinger played well in the playoffs. He's overrated amd the Stars' biggest weakness.
@@bigvanvader3122Otter was fantastic in the Minnesota series last year. In the later rounds, he dealt with injury, which he needed surgery for in the offseason. He was injured again this year, and had trouble getting in a rhythm due to missing time. Wouldn’t say he’s overrated, and he’s far from the stars’ biggest weakness
@@ghostx2794 oettinger wasn't fantastic in any series last season. As for the "he was injured" and "he was tired" excuses, give me a fucking break.
The guy all last season was inconsistent as he was this season. Oettinger is not as good as everyone claims he is, but I'd love to know who is the Stars' biggest weakness IYO?
I'm on the east coast and stayed up to watch the whole game
Worth it
My old man is 54 years old. He can't!
I did too, but I was going to sleep after the first ot. Glad I saw the finish
Good for you. I live in mountain time and I was honestly just saying that I was going to give up when it went into OT2, which looked like it was going to happen, and then the Stars scored. I'm rooting for vegas but I was honestly happy that Dallas scored because it felt inevitable (they looked stronger in OT) and I just wanted to go to sleep.
I fell asleep through all of regulation but somehow managed to wake up between the 3rd and OT haha!
Wyatt Johnston is a grown man.
lmaooooo
Medically he won't be an adult until his brain goes through certain chemical changes at around 25 years old.
You could definitely tell he was not a grown man in that post game interview. Like a shy little boy but a hell of a goal.
Didnt think dallas would win this game the way Thompson was playing
Wyatt "The Kid" Johnston is that DUDE! What a sick goal he scored there in OT to give the Stars their first Game 3 win (first under DeBoer as Stars head coach) since the 2022 Western Conference First Round!
The Kid is Hot Tonite - Loverboy 🔥🔥🔥
I was soooo frustrated with Dallas getting all kinds of opportunities, but never elevating the puck, until finally Johnston managed to do that, and immediately scored and ended the game. Elevate the puck Stars!
So two years ago? You make it sound like it's been 10 plus years lmao
My only issue with the schedule is that if you are Dallas, you scrap all year to earn home ice. Only to be rewarded with a 9:00pm start on a weeknight when kids have school the next day. So many empty seats for Game 2 cause people couldn’t resell their tickets last minute. Or leaving early cause it was almost midnight and people have work and school the next day. Now I completely understand a 9:00pm start if you are playing in Vegas, since its a reasonable start time for them.
Absolutely catered to Vegas with the start times of the first two games. So much for home ice and advantage when the game is starting at the visiting teams normal start time.
They shouldnt be allowed to change the start time: Start at the time indicated on the ticket, which in Dallas is usually 7pm.
People like to say "The coach has them peaking at the right time" which is 7pm to 10pm, not 9pm to midnight, local, Dallas time.
Advantage Vegas.
I do absolutely hate the late start BS that Dallas has had to deal with. The games literally started at the same time after the time zone adjustments.
Home games should be at 7-730 their time no matter what. Fix it NHL
It’s time for the Stars management, and all the teams in the central that have to put with this BS every playoffs to revolt and say enough of this.
I'm not sure I follow your logic. You complain that Dallas has a late start at 9pm, but its an unfair advantage for Vegas to have a 9pm late start? Why is it any different?
The people that go to vegas games are just locals. They have kids, and school, and jobs just like the people in Dallas. There might be some people coming in from the strip, but most of them are just normal people.
@@JAlexanderCurtisIf they’re starting at nearly 9pm Dallas time, it’s nearly 7pm Vegas time which they’re used to. Why are we starting home games in Dallas at nearly 9pm? If it’s home ice then it should be a standard start time like 7pm.
I’ve been saying this for as long as the playoff schedule is out, Dallas gets screwed because their start time is 1 1/2 hours later than normal start times at home AND given the TNT schedule of adding. Few more minutes for actual puck drop just isn’t fair to the fans or the team.
What a game! Stars were the better team tonight and deserved it. Win game 4 and Dallas has all the momentum going into game 5.
no, vegas is a momentum killer
Not really. Stars couldn't beat Vegas twice in their own building. So far, neither team has played well at home.
Vegas fan but I agree with you that Dallas out played us. If it wasn’t for Thompson in net it could had easily been 5-2. Vegas was slow and they played an all over bad game.
@@dmonsefDallas is the better team
Nail biter of a game for me, Thompson was playing amazingly and I thought dallas wouldn’t have his number tonight. Dallas also needs to figure out Jack Eichil, they seem to let him do what he wants. Haven’t payed attention to Thompson but he earned my respect tonight!
I like the mouse click punctuating the end of Shannon's videos.
I agree.
I'm a Knights fan on the east coast and I barely made it through the end of the first period.
God i love Johnston, quickly turning into one of my favourite players
This is an important win for the Stars. Props to both goaltenders.
Well we aren’t dead
Yet.
Happy to see oettinger passed the test tonight the spotlight was on him hell it has been
I’m a VGK fan but Dallas Deserved it. They Win Mon. Whole New Series.
I was really worried, Stars could have been up like 5-0 or 6-0, but only were up 2. And im not gonna front, when Vegas tied, i turned the game off and went for a walk. I didn't come back until midway through the third.
I just thought Vegas had played good enough to tie, and Logan was playing like he was on fire NBA Jam style. But in OT, Dallas seemed to want it more.
At least they're not down 0-3 for a second straight year. Still LOTS of work to even hope to win this series.
I went to bed with all my notifications off at the start of OT, actually something pleasant to wake up to for once.
So worth losing sleep over. Wyatt "the kid" Johntson really came through!! What a beauty. Be prepared for the push back, take it one game at a time.
We've got ourselves a series!! Lets go Stars !!!
I was at the game, and the stars outplayed us from the drop. vegas only managed to hold out until OT because of an insane game from LT. petro was a little off all game, a bit worried about him going forward, but looking forward to monday!
Dallas won and somehow still got goalied...
I need Dallas to win this series for my bracket, I’m relieved that three goals was enough tonight. Vegas could’ve dropped like five and Thompson would’ve prevented a Stars win.
Dallas had a great 1st period and a solid overtime. If they can play like that in game 4 we are back in this series!
I slept soundly through the game cause it started at 4:30am for me lol. Seeing the result immediately made my Sunday though!!! Let’s go Stars! ✨
The knights were one shot away from going 3-0, and they played terribly while the stars emptied the clip and they still managed to blew a 2 goal lead, I would be shocked if vegas loses this series.
The broadcast put up a thing saying that Thompson had made a career high 44 saves then took a shot away from Dallas and the next shot was the OT winner so idk if that was the broadcast jynxing vegas or not but I thought it was pretty funny.
12AM start time for the east coast >:(
my buddy just found out he’s having a boy like two days ago and they’re naming him wyatt 😂😂😂😂
If winning in overtime is what it takes to beat Vegas, then that’s what we’re going to have to do.
Let’s Go Stars!
Game of the playoffs so far.
FLA/TB game 2 imo and I’m a stars fan lol
@@ekaj13_ That’s my 2nd place.
I’m so happy I’m not the only one that thought the games were too late, like it’s not fair for people who have work in the morning or kids who have school the next day, games need to start at 7:30 or maybe 8 at the latest in their regional time
It started at 7:55 in Vegas, so that's before 8.
yea you just totally wrecked your own point at the end.
@@jefflarson1652 1. i said 8 at the absolute latest so 7:55 is still late, 2. to every other part of the country it’s way later for them, and other sports have their pacific time teams always start at 7 to 7:30 again at the absolute latest, no pacific time team should start at 8 PM, 2. the games in Dallas did not start that “early” they started at 8:30 and one started at 8:50, so excuse me that maybe this game was a bit earlier, let’s not forget the fact that there were just two late night games in this series many people are having an issue with, and if game 3 means that games in Dallas start at 7:55 then that’s an improvement and i won’t complain but if they go back to starting games at 8:30 or later, then that i have an issue with
@@itstino5218 Central teams in the Western conference always get screwed. Sorry for taking what you said as what you said. I guess I should have known better.
@@jefflarson1652 👍👍👍
I went from depressed, to hopeful, to resigned in defeat, to excited during this game. Too much emotional turmoil. But I'm so glad we're not getting swept!
The start times thing is so true. Colorado games starting at 8pm (and the puck drop being later) makes the energy so low for the games, especially if they go to overtime
This may be unpopular, but I absolutely LOVE going to late games. If you know anything about Dallas, there's almost nothing to do here, so a late game is a blessing of excitement
Johnny Cash best song "A girl named Wyatt"
3rd line looking rough for VGK. That’s the risk you make when you add in so many assets at the trade deadline.
Also Theo needs to get off the PP line. His shot is so predictable.
TNT shouldnt be televising games. The NHL, like MLB, has rules about how late a period can start, overtime or not. They cant force the players to play until 5am, particularly because the TV broadcaster didnt want the game to start until nearly 9pm local time, and yeah, everybody on the East coast has already gone to bed and arent going to watch anyway because their favorite teams have already finished playing. They'll watch Western conference when its either really convenient, or when its the Finals. Big names like McDavid might help a little but expecting people on the East coast to stay up until 2am to watch a hockey game is a bit unrealistic.
TNT needs to get their act together. This is BS.
The start time was perfect, I could sleep and wake up around 9 am to watch the ot live.
Fun fact: with the win, the stars are now 5-14 in game 3s post-2005 lockout (2006 playoffs-present). This is sort of a rare win lol.
Which will be fitting if they come back to beat Vegas (they've never come back from a 2-0 series deficit as the *Dallas* Stars) and manage to win the Cup. Championship teams always have demons to exorcise.
I like your take, I was certain Vegas was going to pull this one out, looked like the ice was tilted their way. Good "character" game for the Stars.
Yeah, that's a good way to put it. This was a massive test of Dallas' character. After Vegas tied the game despite having no business even being in this one, I thought, "oh, man. Here's where we find out if Dallas collectively has the heart of a champion." That was surely incredibly disheartening. Then Vegas got their game going a bit, and I thought the game was over at that point. I could just feel a heartbreaker coming on for them. I'm so glad Dallas bent but didn't break, though.
I tried to stay up to support Dallas, but working at 8:30am EST it just wasn't possible
Even in the Eastern time zone, I was watching this. Just because it was playoff hockey!!
Logan Thompson was giving me flashbacks of Cujo from '97
I've thrown off my sleep schedule to watch the Oilers and have not been disappointed!
I've never seen more breakaways and odd man rushes against a team in one period than I did against Vegas here. Atrocious defending saved by Logan Thompson.
Go Stars
Just saw the scoreboard. Shannon must be parched. Go stars 🏆
Man I gotta say as a stars fan, as soon as Eichel scored that shorty, I thought season was done. How could you recover after blowing a 2-0 lead, which easily could've been 4-0 to being in a tied game with all momentum going to VGK. So happy we made this a series again!
It could've easily been 6-0. Thompson gave Vegas every chance in the world to win that one.
@@zubiecup I'm just ecstatic that his performance was pretty much wasted. Safe to say it's going to be tough for him to replicate that
This is starting to feel like the Jets/Blues series from 2019 when all the road teams were winning until game 6.
Dallas has not been out played in most of the games. There has been times we're the Knights have been. Dallas needs to watch where Wyatt put the game winning goal and go there more. GO STARS.
Johnston easily becoming one of my favourite players. This kid will be a top center in a few years.
this is one of the worst halves ive ever seen Vegas play but all credit to Dallas they dominated
This series still feels like it is Vegas' to lose. If Stars want to win, they need more out of whoever is in net for them, they need to elevate the puck on Thompson and realize a better and consistent mix of quality and quantity of shots, chip and chase can't be a strategy for anything other than securing a line change, keep up with Vegas physicality, and Dallas D needs to be on their shit by securing strong positioning in the middle of the play to force play out and towards the boards, keeping their sticks in passing lanes to suffocate the play, hold the blue line when in O zone, and D joining the rush... No more mistakes when in the D zone and coverage needs to be impeccable.
Vegas' game that has disrupted the Stars are occasional rushes where they are damn deadly and seem to pick these moments very well, an unflappable Thompson in net, and a strong and imposing defense that blocks shots, kills rebounds along with passes to force terrible angles, and moving the puck and themselves very capably.
HG I tell you what preempts hockey at 11 pm the back of my eyelids!😆too old and tired 😴 even 10 pm is pushing it. I managed the 1st period and that’s it. Lights out goodnight. 💤
Last time I was this early the Sedins haven’t scored the OT winner yet…
Really glad to see you not wearing VGK gear this time Shannon 😂
Great game. That's a game the knights needed to steal. Stars deserved the win but what a waste of a performance from the goalie. Congrats to your Stars. We have a series now. All the pressure on Vegas tomorrow
Vegas might be the toughest out in the conference again
It’s such a shame that my Knights let such a spectacular performance by Thompson be wasted with a loss.
These playoff start times are ruining my quality of life.
Loved the game, so tense! "Ya gotta think about chin music, ya gotta put it over his shoulder" TNT broadcast was great tonight, lol chin music so good
You could name your next bunny or cat Wyatt btw 😂
One team was desperate, and the other team took the foot off the gas, vegas still took the stars to overtime. Dallas dropping first two home games will cost them this series. Vegas in 5 or 6.
No cider this time
Canada HAS their goalie for the WC and Olyimpics. Thompson is the only reason we didnt hang 5 goals in the first couple periods... That and the Stars ONLY shoot LOW... Gotta get those shots up as Thompson drops to the butterfly so early!!!
i wish he had vegas shot glasses, as a avs fan it funny when he drink pretending beer or fake beer
Monster win for the Stars! Wyatt Johnston may score 50 goals some day!!
Finally got past that ridiculous game by Thompson.
Go Knights Go! 😬
I still don't understand why there were only 2 games on Thursday night? It's the 1st round not the 2nd.
Up to 2 am watching this 😂
Yeah the 9:00PM MT. Starts are stupid, even Oilers and Kings start at 8:30. Ridiculous, on a Sunday too
Thank god the stars won
No cider chugging for Hockey Guy tonight!
So glad the Stars pulled that out, my distaste of Vegas runs deep.
I agree that the scheduling department needs to stop smoking weed.
My old man is pissed he can't see these games!
I don't mind later start times on the weekend, but during the week It's stupid. That being said just start the games at noon instead of 2:30 ET. I solves this issue for the east coast, and on the weekend most people will be up by 9am pst anyways
Hopefully this’ll get us rolling🙏🏼
Well being down 1-2 is still better than 1-3. Can be back to even in one game.
Start times are terrible
What about Dadonovs pass on the 3-2? I thought he did good there.
it non achol cider i wonder if shannon has a mini fridge in that room because cold cider better than warm cider
YES. These ridiculously late starts are not fair to the fans in the seats and not likely good for tv ratings. (Great performance by Dallas!!)
My Caps are now the only team that hasn't won a playoff game in the 1st round!
Thompson played amazing. Best I have ever seen. Unfortunately his offense and defense left him out to dry. Vegas was terrible for the first 30 minutes. The third period the Knights slowed everything down. It actually looked like Stone was skating in quicksand. Way too many turnovers for Vegas and no one crashed the Dallas net. Except for Thompson and McNab no other Vegas player had a good game.
Could not stay up for this game. Ridiculous.
Go Dallas!!
Oettinger will get a pass bc his stats look good but the reality is that he allowed 2 goals on roughly 1.5 expected goals per Moneypuck and NaturalStatTrick. Meanwhile Vegas’ NHL 24 autogenerated goalie allowed only 3 goals on 5.5 expected goals. Second postseason in a row that Vegas has a fake autogenerated goalie from franchise mode stealing games for them. As a Blues fan I’m morally obligated to root against Vegas for this reason even though i can’t stand Dallas. Just morally and conceptually ridiculous that Vegas is getting this lucky
LFG!!
Dallas really showed how good they are when they need to be. Suddenly, I am not fearing VGK.
This game was insanely late. For a sport that carries a massive fan base on the east coast, I’m not sure where the logic was to have an 8PM start on the west coast. Then the NHL wonders why its ratings don’t compete.
About the game. That was probably the worst defense I have ever seen in a period (2nd) by Vegas. Four breakaways, and at least three 2 on 1’s. I can’t believe this wasn’t an 8-2 final.
dallas did that without lundqvist
@@immortalz3613 coaching staff has pretty much given up on him

The schedule is insanity lmao. I'm sitting there living in frigging fear of 2OT, not because someone's gonna win or lose, simply because it's so f'ing late and just want it to end lmao. They really should just start like 2 games at the same time or stagger them by AT MOST half an hour. Especially on nights with low event crap like the Bruins game, its MUCH better to have something to switch over to.
Anyway, good to see Dallas remembered how to win. Even if they almost choked it up 😬 my bracket can continue living 🤣
Totally agree, the schedule was… interesting… Its getting exciting. Happy to see the refs let the teams play
So, you were happy in the preview that TBS spaced the games by 3 hours instead of the 2.5 ESPN allowed, but now it's bad? The first game started at 11AM Pacific time. You think that's convenient for people on the West coast? Boston-Toronto got prime time, so the East is already getting preferential treatment.
This puck actually dropped about 9:50pm in central time. Was scheduled for 9:30.
Worst thing by far.
I dont get why one of the NHLs top seeds vs the defending cup champions doesn't get the prime time slot. This happened last year too, and is not fair to fans as you said
Glad my Stars got a win, but i agree with you they have to win tonight. Stars have looked like the better team for 80% of this series, but they let Vegas score on like 75% of their high danger plays. Hopefully they found something Thompson can be beat with and can put this one away tonight. It seems like they found a solution to get around Vegas's defensive scheme of just clogging the middle of the ice. I hate dump and chase hockey, but its the way to go for now until they adjust to it.
Didn't watch the game. But I really take issue with "the refs let them play" etc. That's code for the last skilled most gooner team can do what they want to slow the game down. I lived through the dead puck era. Guys like Scott Hannan would hop Peter Forsberg's back and ride him and the rink. It sucked. If it's a penalty it should be called. Game one of the season, game seven of the finals
