I have a Berlin Y 2024 with BYD blade batteries. So happy with charging speed and so quiet compared to M3. But our Model S cars from 2014 and 2015 are also very quiet.
Nice! 👍
I'm not a Tesla owner (I have a Volvo C40 Twin Ultimate), but I found this video really insightful. People are pestering China-made products, turns out, this is based on bias. Your video proves it.
Thanks for the great work. I hope you'll get more audience and subscribers, given the quality of your videos on Evs, you deserve it 🙂
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for your kind words. 🙂 The channel is growing, but it takes a lot of time and effort. Spread the word and let people know.
I would say assembly location is iess important than engineering, as long as you control the supply chain and have vertical integration.
@@OlavAlexanderMjelde Agreed 🙌🏼
Tesla is ok, but Chinese cars are going nuts.
You just have to understand this. China have done panel for trillions in one decade. And they have run manufacturing for over 50 years. In past they have done so many errors and is where they've learn to fix it to make it right and better. Chinese manufacturer experiences and plus many Chinese talented in physics and maths can resolves the problems faster. They learn fast. And today they are proven they work above and beyond.
US made 2023 tesla model Y here. misaligned panels and gaps everywhere. uncomfortable suspension and lots of rattles as well at only 4k miles.
😔so it's still a problem.. sad to hear!
Thanks again for your love for details and thx for organizing both cars! Any chance you will do a vision only park assist re-test soon? 😊
Not planned for a retest yet. Haven't seen enough progress on the Tesla vision.
Regarding noise level, the Hankooks doesn't seem to be the quietest tire on the market.
Yes, I agree. I have tried different setups but never a really silent setup.
I wanted the two LFP MODEL Y compared. China MODEL Y RWD has CATL while Brandenburg has BYD Blade battery.
Me too. I'm looking for that kind of setup. But not easy to find.
But you can expect the same interior and exterior differences as for the long range.
Yes, that would be interesting.
The BYD LFP in MiG Y SR is better than the CATL LFP in MiC Y SR. BYD charges faster (3C), charge curve is above the CATL. And it charges with 3C at any SoC you plug it in. 174kw at 10% or plugging in at 70%. Holds that for around 20%. 9-100% in 31 min on a V2 charger (logged that in my car). The SR uses 3kWh/100km less than the LR (had both cars). Y SR MiG is a clear winner and on long travels is the same as a LR.
@@t.d.5804how can you see which battery the car has? I am going to pick up a SR Model Y next Tuesday and since it is a leased vehicle I don't know the VIN yet.
@@meeder78 you need the vin to tell where its made. XP7 is MiG. The only other current option to make sure its made in Germany is to order the 2 new colors which currently come only from germany, midnight cherry red and quicksilver. Custom order, or from the inventory ? Inventory cars show their vin on the website, see the url on the details page.
What's your experience about the differences? Have you taken a delivery of a newly produced Model Y from Giga Shanghai, any changes?
*Elon Musk said himself earlier this year the Chinese Plant can do it faster and better (less quality issues) that is why he is promoting the head of China plan to manage the global operation - in hope the Berlin plant and the US plant can do the same.*
Great reveiw, now how about Fremont built model Y verses Giga Shanghai? Here in Canada Tesla just switched about 2 months ago to all Chinese built Model Y's. I purchased mine just before the transition. I have a longer range and faster charging 82KW Panasonic 2170s verses 78KW LG supplied China delivered Model Y's. Aside from that my Fremont built has all the soft fabric and not one issue with panel gaps or interior fit and finish issues. I could not be more pleased! Not sure how the Giga Shanghai cars are, I'll see if I can find a recently delivered Model Y AWD long range and do that comparison!
Hard to compare. In Europe we don't have any Freemomt Ys. But it's clear that you really timed it right. Congratulations 👏
Not quite! There is a RUclipsr posted Why He Sold his Tesla Model Y (Came out from Austin Plant) he sold it in 3 weeks and the Fitting Quality was Poor.

Perhaps from Canada, you have seen the Link? The Owner Voice there; he paid for more than 110k CAD$ on his Blue Tesla Model Y and caught fire after 6 months owning; here in town, Edmonton, a fellow has two Teslas, is selling the Blue Model Y Performance!!
A New MSRP Model Y (Shanghai) Dual Motor Performance listed at $80K CAD; How much a Used 2021 T model Y, Dual Motor, Performance Freemont or not Freemont worth?
Last year in October, those Dealer asked for Model 3 Y Dual Motor 90k CAD$... Would I be that Smart to buy any? Had I bought a Lexus Hybrid 550 SUV then in 2020; by now after more than 2 years Driving = Used or New a few available during the Pandemics, I could ask for more now! And the Lexus SUV 550h could land me any where from Yukon, Alaska Highway to Ontario.

We come to the conclusion that the Chinese do better, and the Germans just produce an updated version.

@@blue_ig1 I can sense painful jealousy (and maybe despair?) in your comment.
But why so sad?? All this talk of Chinese cars invading Europe is premature.
If the US and Europe can't compete, they will simply put up barriers for Chinese cars.

Great video! Thanks.
Taking delivery of my model Y QS coming Wednesday so will keep an eye on the built quality from Berlin 👍🏽😊
Nice! Dont get me wrong. The build quality is not bad in Tesla terms. My MYP from Berlin is the best built Tesla I have had and much better then my previous Teslas from USA (Model S and Model 3).
Thanks for the video. I’m looking to buy an electric car and tried a Model Y last week; not sure if the one I tried was from Germany or China but the poor quality of the seats and the many issues I could see from poor assembly convinced me to not buy a Tesla. I’m waiting now the upcoming launch of the Volvo EX90 and the Polestar 3…
EX90 is a lot bigger and more expensive. Hopefully volvo will manage the software issues to be able to start delivering time enough. I prefer the P3 in that case. Have you looked at Nio ES6 or XPENG G6? BMW IX could also be an alternative.
Thanks for your suggestions, they both look great. I would be looking at a little bit bigger, like the Nio ES8 or the Xpeng G9… but unfortunately I don’t think they are available in Canada. Volvo has a special event in Montreal on Friday so I will be able to see the EX90 which is supposed to launch mid 2024

Note that:
Prior to Spring 2023; all Teslas all Models imported to 🍁 🍁 were from USA; then, 2023, the New Batch of China Made Model 3 and Y came to Canada.
Last year, in October 2022 a Tesla Model 3 Dual Motor, because we needed them in Edmonton = Asking price more than 90k CAD (Canadian Dollars) And A Model Y which was way over 100k and no Brand New could be ordered.
Now at this moment, a Tesla Model Y Performance which is MSRP at 80k CAD$. And those Owners Model Y who bought them in 2021 Paid for over 110k CAD$... We/I saw some listed privately? I wondered: if a New One China Made is 80k CAD vs a Used one USA Made (some are very poor finished panels gaps etc.) ? Would it be $65k should someone buy? And Dashboard Alberta Grids or Texas Grids shown of 15% Electric Powers Generated from Coals and 65-67% from Natural Gas = a total of 80-82% from Fossils is worth?

According to Tesla employees / sellers, Chinese built cars had better quality than Germain built. Less small defects. No reason to expect that if Tesla car is build in Germany then it is automatically better than the one built in China. Cheap plastic vs cheap fabric - hard to say what is better. At least it is easier to clean plastic. All this small changes is production cost optimization for Tesla than anything else. At the end of the day it doesnt matter much if the car comes from China or Germany. Both of them will come without parking sensors)
Quicksilver looks sweet. We are stuck with white in the UK
The German quicksilver makes the Tesla look stylish in a classic way. I'd go for that.
Agree, and it looks better IRL
You didn't mention if both have Hardware 3 or 4 or different. I do like the lighter silver grey.
Good point. Hw3 on both.
The Y doesn't have hw4 in China and Berlin (yet)
Only HW for US built Model Y’s
But HW3 has more RAM and more storage
Only benefit of HW4 is 5MP camera’s
During the jump cut at :44 seconds, the blur of the license plate allows it to be viewed. Might want to fix that if you are worried about people seeing it.
Thanks for noticing.
The windshield wipers is also different. They have different sprinkler output.
They used to be different, but not anymore. Recent model Y from China has same updated spray nozzles and heated wiper area. Also, new model Y from China has double pane side windows front and back.
@alexlustneim820 double paned windows front and back has always been a part of the Chinese built, since the start of the model y.
@@ItsOnlyElectric Is there a benefit to double paned windows? I assume reduced noise, but you demonstrate they're both the same..
@afegargergegerg doesn't seem to make a huge difference. Guess the noise cones from other things like wheel arches, a-pillars etc.
Damn it, China's production and assembly processes are even better than Germany's
Was there any difference in the parcel shelves itself? Eg.: folding mechanism, thickness.... thx!
Don't know. Only had the shelf for the Berlin car. Bith owners seems to drive without shelf's normally.
Great video, thanks! I wonder how are the differences in ride quality (suspension and noise) compared with your Performance? I am chosing between a LR or P.
I have a performance from Berlin, and I'm happy with that and wouldn't change it for a long range.
Indeed, same
Thank you very much for this great video and comparison!!!! I bought a Tesla Y 2 weeks ago, I will pick it up next Saturday and apparently according vin number it comes from Germany. Happy to hear that seats and suspension are better on German one but a little bit disappointed by the thinner glass and missing sealing in the truck. Just money saving but happy to see that car still silent. I immediately subscribes to your channel and I gonna watch all the other video about Tesla now. Thanks a lot !!! Greetings from France. Great review - is the rear door glass acoustic as well? I'm in Canada and we get Model Y from Giga Shanghai and all doors have acoustic glass as opposed to Fremont built cars, that only have acoustic glass in the front doors. Giga Shanghai built cars are generally better built compared to Fremont.
Yes all doors acoustic 👍
Thanks for great video. One like from my side.
I am about to buy LR - Germany version, I have two queries.
1. I wanted to know the best time to purchase (Sept or Oct or Nov or Dec) currently they are offering low interest rate (1.99 %).
2. Is the cabin noise is bearable ? Do we get to use to of it?
Please suggest.
The noise level is not awful and absolutely bearable.
Best period is to buy and get delivery close to the end of a quarter. At least in a financial aspect the Tesla tends to offer discounts and low interest rates. But with Tesla you never now, there's no perfect time for buying one, it's like hitting a moving target. 🙂
Thanks for watching!
I have the MYP from Giga Shanghai. I agree that I have the same feeling of less back support from the driver side seat.
If only the Seat (Cushion) not the Quality of Suspension = An upgrade of 500 Custom Made Locally they would add more Foam/Coils/Springs to the Seat by Re-upholstering ... I am afraid the Suspension would be more Problematical. About Painting Quality, Germany has been known for Luxurious High Quality Painting. If the Germany Version is looked nicer; that is not a reason why Paint Tinted look and surface Quality; I have watched a Video by a Journalist who own a German Tesla Model Y and other with Model 3 Germany Plant ─ They always mentioned about the Paint quality in Teslas Germany Made.
Now Mr. "ItsOnlyElectric" said about the Fitting; what I have seen yesterday on the Model Y Performance Dual Motor Blue color with no Shining Coat; I have no comment on that but the Panels Fitting of this Freemont Model Y is Poor,,, Sorry but worse than A Subaru Legacy 1992 or Honda Accord EX-R 1992 that cost only 22k CAD$

Electric vehicle tires: a lesser-known pollution headache
Paul Krantz
07/12/2023July 12, 2023
As EV sales have soared, the tire industry has innovated its products to fit the needs of the relatively heavy, efficient and silent cars. But there is one problem the industry is struggling to crack.
Direct Drive Cars/Shafts are the causes of Small Particles of the Tires (Petro byproducts) spined off the Tires and Roads.

Without on both.
This is test including noise with 19" and parcel shelf. A performance and different tires. But 1dB more silent in all speeds.

Do we have a choice in the UK which one to choose. I thought we don't get a choice
No, think UK only gets Shanghai cars.
I like the quicksilver also
Is there any differences in software between both cars
No. It's the same.
Here in the UK we can only buy RHD Tesla vehicles from China. I have a China made Model Y. It's great - better than any ICE vehicle I've owned before. It's a shame we can't get the midnight cherry red and quicksilver in the UK. I have a white one.
White is nice too. Have seen both Cherry red and quicksilver IRL. Two really nice colors!
All I really care is the battery. Are they the same between the two, if not which one is better meaning safer, more efficient and last longer. To me, I think the designs should be localized, and I am OK that they are different.
The batteries are the same. The RWD single motor versions have LPF batteries, which are safer and last longer. Considering that the RDW version weighs less, it is also more efficient.
Both running LFP, one from CATL and one from BYD
Berlin is now delivering RWD’s with CATL and BYD
Difference can be seen by VIN nr:
To determine which battery is installed, the 7th digit of the chassis number is decisive. For vehicles with rear-wheel drive from Germany:
E in this position means BYD battery 🔋
F in this position means CATL battery 🪫
thats a real deep comparison.. well done.. 👍
Do both come with trunk cover?
Yes they do.
