So I have been practicing being a “stand up guy” and riding slow. What the heck!! I was wore out and sweating. Wheeling feels very awkward. Thank you for making me challenge myself.

Your bike may not be set-up for standing position as well. I have a little taller bars to make standing position more comfortable and slightly forward helps also! Standing is much easier on your back through the rough stuff!

@@HeddleTown Maybe there is a TMT segment on handle bar set up and risers to set up for standup riding (unless there is one and I haven't seen it). I bought my 07 XR already modified pretty much the way I would want it already. One thing I never messed with is handlebars on any of my bikes, I just accepted what was on it.

Great vid/content friend! I own a 94' frame with 01' motor XR650L that has been bored over and redone completely and is hard to start most of the time. Has OEM CV carb with bigger jet kit. Interested in adding kickstart and/or possibly FCR carb in the future to help with starting? Not sure if owner added de compression in cam. Curious on your thoughts on that. Love my 650L out of all my bikes but don't trust it to ride far even though I keep a jump box on hand lol.

The FCR carb is the best upgrade.. often they dont start because the starter uses alot of the volts to turn over stealing power from the CDI & ECU thats why they often fire as soon as you let go up the starter button! A really good lithium battery often helps I use Fire Power battery for a KTM 690! (same size).

    I like the old XR s I rode a 600 for 20 plus years made it a 640 .
It was great until I rode a new KTM that felt like half the weight

Agree I love the euro bikes as well and still got my KTM 1090 but something about the old school XR's that nothing compares too!

You seem to have your xr650L all dialed in and running great! I am picking mine up next week and am wondering what mods you have done to yours that you’ve been happy with. Also, what elevation are you at? Do you know what jetting works for your bike?

    Your thoughts? Oil cooler maybe?
