I left Melton on the 1st. I picked up a glass load in Avenal, NJ headed to Buford, GA & then I was supposed to go home on the 31st. When I got there the Consignee declined the load bc a couple crates of glass got broke in transit due to the way the shipper loaded it. After they had a company remove the broken crates, they sent me back to try and deliver it again. They declined it again bc after they refused it the first time, I didn't immediately retarp the load when there was broken crates and glass everywhere. I called up my DM to see what to do since I was supposed to be getting home that day & she told "Theres nothing we can do about it. You'll have to bring the load back up to NJ." After arguing w her for 3 hours, I called Angie Buchanan & Lisa Mason and they told me to go to the Birmingham terminal and drop the load there and then they'd get me a rental car home and back to the truck. I went home and didn't come back. After Melton blamed me for the broken glass and tried to make me feel like shit about it and told me i'm the reason I'm not getting home on time, I called my DM up and said the keys are in the truck at Birmingham. Melton isn't a bad company, just my situation really killed my desire to work for them. Either way, I had another flatbedding job lined up by the end of the next day & it's a local one too.

when i worked for melton i just put a piece of electric tape over the front camera lol and i would remove it whenever i went into tulsa or any terminal. im happy i work for a company now that doesnt have driver facing camera. hell my truck now doesnt even have a camera tho they want to put one in on my next pm but its not driver facing thank god. Melton is a alright company i was making 50 cents a mile average check was about 1100 a week after taxes before i quit. only issue i always had with melton is to many snitching drives damn old timers always called in on me saying i wasn't securing my load the melton way or i was flying down a mountain. and honestly i never did it meltons way i did in my way and never 1 time did they ever care i did whatever i wanted with Melton. sometimes i miss melton only problem i have is why would i drive flatbed for 50 cents a mile when i now drive dry van for 50 cents a mile with higher weekly miles. basically why work hard when i can work easy and make the same money. not saying flatbed is hard work just its more work then dry van once you have 2 years or more experience OTR its not worth working for melton as a student or a new driver sure they pay better then most companies will for new drivers but once you got some time under your belt the tarpping and untarpping and strapping isnt worth the pay anymore unless you enjoy the work but none the less Melton is a GOOD company.

Melton pet policy is a dog or cat under 80 pounds. Indeed the "aggressive" breed clause was removed. But it can't be a 120 pound dog. Also, the camera doesn't record if you "change lanes without a turn signal" the bendix goes off. If you are going to recruit people atleast tell them accurate info please.
