      5:45 - Long ranging AKA Gunner Overwatch... a vet with a lasgun (of any kind) with Counterfire...you are welcome. If you set up well, you can clear a whole room from all trash range mobs and even some elites in ONE volley fire use. It is a must if you want an easy run. Also a controversial opinion, you don't need BOSS kiilling role. Monsters in Draktide are pi...easy. Ramged trash mobs do more damage to you than the plague ogre. What you geenerally need is COMMUNICATION. If you can afford $2k PC, you can afford a microphone. Use the ingame VOIP. A massive advantage most people do not take advantage of.

    With my mates we have a rule, made in Vermintide 1 : "you either go in pair or all at once, but nobody goes anywhere alone"
    Having someone to cover your back when searching for equipement in dark corridors avoided us A LOT of predictable deaths and it's still valid in Darktide ^^

    • @climax050
      @climax050 2 года назад +2

      Good rule, my team and I prefer to spread a little more, because there’s some absolutely giant rooms, so we can out like a search party would, in a line and all pick path, which all converge on one another eventually anyway, makes searching for things easy, while still allowing for support. The only thing is that your team needs to have the common sense of not trying to take down a bunch of enemies that are blocking their path and wait for backup first. There’s also a risk of turning a corner into a bad situation, but I trust that if that happens my squad can save themselves until help arrives. It’s all a gamble in this game and you need to choose what odds you want to play.

    From my own observation, one of the most common cause for wipes can also be on scanning missions where everyone is given an Auspex Scanner and told to scan things. One of the common things that tend to happen is that everyone immediately runs off in their own direction like they're playing some sort of Grim Dark version of Pokemon Go with their little scanners, immediately splitting the party.
    Which to no one's surprise ends up with people being picked up and overwhelmed by the spawning horde, Tok the Ogryn too busy to scan a trash bin to help Joe Veteran 4 blocks over who's getting mauled by a pox hound and horde of specials/walkers.

      @renideo true. It's so easy to get carried away we with all the fighting going on, and not notice elites, especially the damn trappers in a mob of humanoids, and get a net in the face through all those zombies.
      Stuff that helps:
      - marking elites
      - use a higher fov than default
      - use outlines for teammates (especially if they have the krieg skin that makes them look like scab gunners)
      - tweak your video settings for no motion blur, reduce bloom and lens flares, whatever clutters your screen
      - use good headphones and listen to sound cues
      - use a weapon with crown control to have the mob back off
      - get some distance to your ogryn buddy so his ass doesn't block your view.
      I noticed that I typically take a lot more damage over time from mobs than from elites, or get damage from those only because the mob ate my shots or blocked my view. Don't understimate a horde of weaklings.

    @caesar_s7343 2 года назад +35

    Kind of hard to build team synergy since currently you can't really form a party before entering a mission unless you organise a private match with friends. You also can't see what weapons/talents they're using (besides melee) in the pre-game screen. Darktide needs the system from VT2 where you could open a lobby in the Taal's Horn Keep and people could join before the mission started, that way you can discuss your teams composition and weapons.

    • @almostontimehero5415
      @almostontimehero5415 2 года назад +2

      That problem of people not using the right weapons for their class will fix itself over time as DLC adds over powered weapons. They want to sell you DLC, you want to buy DLC and the fastest way is cool unique powerful weapons. Power Creep will happen in Darktide, believe it.

    • @_NutcasE_
      @_NutcasE_ 2 года назад +2

      the game has pre-game lobby, You just rarely end up there because you mostly join in-progress missions. But if you by chance end up being the player to start the mission you will end up in 60 second pre-game lobby where you can discuss strats. If you get all 4 members in during that period. but yes still a downgrade from VT2. But thats what you get when you have random mission generator chosing difficulities and modifiers for you. Might take a long time before the game has a lobby creator.

    • @RandomPerson-b1s
      @RandomPerson-b1s 2 года назад +5

      @@_NutcasE_ 60 seconds is not a lot. Especially since some classes cannot really cover all the roles.
      I don't own the game yet, but I saw Damnation streams. Sometimes you might get comps like 3 Ogryns and one Psyker. That Psyker is going to feel very safe. But if you have the bad luck of encountering a beast of Nurgle... it's gonna take a *while*, at least from what I've seen.

    • @_NutcasE_
      @_NutcasE_ 2 года назад

      @@RandomPerson-b1s Well taking to consideration that most players will only play 1 character because to be honest the Reputation levels are a bother to level up for every class since there is nothing unique about them. Every character has the same campaign and same dialogue....Because your character barely talks at all in these cutscenes. Damnation is doable with all wild combinations and it aint really that tough on damnation. You just need to have proper teamplay. And Psyker can deal alot of damage on shit. you are going to mostly need team cohesion.
      Play together stick together, watch eachothers backs. Which is surprisingly uncommon as there are alot of people who think they are hot shit and can solo hordes and specials. and while you can, it only takes one slip-up and you are now stuck far away from your team and now they are at a disadvantage and you are behind a horde who do massive damage on Damnation.
      The game missions are not designed for having 1 of each class. You can easily complete all difficulities and missions with 4 Zealots, 4 Veterans, 4 Ogryns and 4 Psykers.
      Fatshark really played it safe with the whole "create your character" angle vs Vermintide where you had 5 characters with 4 sub-classes delivering specific roles.
      ofc its ideal to have one of each but you aint exactly gonna be struggling with whacky combos like 3 vets 1 zealot or 2 ogryns 2 Psykers. Everyone just needs to be aware of the teams strenghts and weaknesses. and not trying to be Sly Marbo.

A single enemy shot and often times a hit would knock you off of the target and get you both hurt/killed. Even with the ogryn with the ability to ignore being hit in favor of reviving only worked half the time and for a while simply did not work when picking up someone when they went off a ledge. To be fair it seems mostly fixed now but in later difficulties with the number of gunners or gun wielding types... good luck getting them up.

    Great info. I'd like to add: I think before players want to jump into higher difficulties they should practice minimizing their damage taken throughout a run. Regardless of team comp/loadouts just minimizing your overall damage taken increases the likelihood of success. Obviously everyone gets hit, however, players need to learn how to corral a horde, kite bosses and elites, weave dodges in melee combat and be patient when pushing forward into enemy shooters/gunners. Learning how to fight defensively is so important because if you can look after yourself and manage your own health it just frees you up to help your teammates and vice versa. And then all the teamwork and loadouts come into play and everyone will have a great time lmao.

I Main sharpshooter with bolter and PS, which is a mid range elite/CC build, but i have people still leaving it to me for mass ranged kills while they recklessly charge forward, and get shot full of holes. I also agree with PTFO, as this is the sin most commit. i had a match where i was the only one grabbing the cannisters to load in, while the other 3 were miles away killing stuff. You can guess how that went, and then players blame you for being the weak link.
    Another point i would like to put forward is SDE (Small Dick Energy), where you flag out ammo or heals, and people refuse to come back to get a medkit while carrying NOTHING, thinking they won't need it, and wiping in the end thanks to selfishness.

      My go-to zealot loadout since last patch has been Hammer and Revolver. Hammer (because nothing else in the game comes close in terms of how satisfying it feels) Has solid CC because of just hilarious amounts of impact stagger (especially with lvl10 feat) and devastating single target damage with the special. Revolver now actually has sufficient ammo reserves that I can rely on its punchthrough to thin out hordes if needed, but more importantly the nigh-instant swap time means I can often dome specials and elites before they get to actually engage. And on non-ogryn types, even if they don't die on the first hit, it frequently knocks them right over, which can still keep the party safe.

    From the reviving I can say from a run last night on malice difficulty that while yes getting the revive as soon as possible is good, the area does need to be relatively controlled before getting the downed player back up. The reason being is that players don't have immunity frames when revived, so a player that was revived on their last down was instantly killed by the horde that easily swarmed back in. I'm sure it's explained already and it went over my head, but there is sometimes an exception to making sure the downed player's area is temporarily cleared so they can be revived without being downed the second they get back up.

  • @theinvisibleguardian
    @theinvisibleguardian 2 года назад

    Another one I would add is pure carelessness. There are times I don't pay attention to my health/toughness and end up downed because of lack of situation awareness. Sometimes more commonly in higher difficulties, there are many sounds playing at once and you don't hear specific audio cues until the very last moment, namely like a mutant charging, trapper's net being deployed, the dog's pounce, etc. A small note to add, while playing as a non-ogryn, you can slide while carrying heavy objects, and effectively have the same speed as an ogryn. During some objectives, throwing the canisters up or down, with preferably another teammate on the other end, would make the events much faster to do.

    Something to note about playing around the objective is that some of the objectives have scripted spawns. So sometimes if you rush the objective it can also cause a wipe because you will overwhelm your team. ie. your team might be finishing off the ragers that spawns when phase 1 was completed, but since rushed through it now the shotgunners spawn. @shirosaki97 2 года назад

    Okay, I want to make an addendum on your first point...YOU ARE RIGHT, people ignoring downed members is stupid and in most situations, at least in the easier difficulties, there are no excuses. However, in Heresy and especially in Damnation, the team blindly going to rescue a downed teammate can be a death sentence in and of itself, in those difficulties, the most deadly enemies are by far, not Crushers, or Bulwarks, or any notable special, but gun weilding enemies, any gun weilding enemies, and even the horde, they can take so much of your health and spawn so frequently and sneakily that if you're not either backed up safely by the team (which is probably hard if you're pinned down) or you're not certain you can spend the few seconds to revive a person, you will die, the stamina, unless you're an Ogryn (which has it's own issues of being the size of a freight train and being shot at by more things), will not save you in panic situations.
    In those scenarios, the best thing to do is consolodate, and cut down as much of the horde/danger as you can, as you can bet that dying party member is still doing a good job at taking aggro off the rest of the team. And hold out until you can rescue them. Now if you can rez them, great, but honest to god the amount of people I've seen try to help only to get completely decimated is beggars belief.
    To be fair, you pointed this out, but I feel it was a bit of an understated point. The message to take away is that players must be keener on their decision making when it comes to these panic scenarios and reviving. Instead of 'always go revive' it should be 'what is the quickest, most efficient and safest way; to revive'. Sometimes it's better to use the opportunity a downed player gives and take the chance to kill as much shit so the guy who is on the floor 50 metres away is the only one on the floor dying.
    Then again, this is only for Damnation really, even in Heresy if your teammates aren't actively getting themselves and everyone else killed, it's probably not going to be so bad to instantly prioritise getting people up.

    These are great tips for the absolute skill floor, but pretty awful for anything above that.
    No, the entire team shouldn't scramble to revive the single dope that went down and get mangled from behind in the process; more likely the guy that just got downed by a handful of poxwalkers _is not_ going to be that instrumental in your success and as such to be prioritized over all else when they hit the floor for the 5th time in the mission. Remove priority threats and get to them when it makes sense to do so. Move with purpose but not recklessness. What good is reviving someone that was bad enough to go down in the first place if you get cold-cocked as a result and your team actually wipes?
    Suggesting people entirely specialize in one thing instead of having a good balance in equipment is moronic for _exactly the reason given as the main thrust of the video._ If your designated elite killer person goes down and everybody else is hard-specced something else, you're going to eat absolute shit as opposed to everyone being a little more flexible and having at least some options for dealing with that situation. "I'm bad at CC so my friend brings a flamer and an eviscerator." bruh what. So if he goes down, now you're all going to die to poxwalkers? If you go down, he's going to get spanked by the first dreg gunner or tox flamer that comes along? Why doesn't he bring an eviscerator for chaff and melee elites, and a boltgun, or a shotgun, or a _revolver_ for those oh-shit moments where you're not standing by to deal with every non-horde situation? Why don't you suck it up and bring something for hordeclear instead of insisting on being the special snowflake I-only-kill-specials guy that gets wrecked the second more than 3 enemies show up, like that Veteran with the *power sword* you showed get dunked on by pox walkers in the beginning of the video? Holy Terra. Why would you ever want "we're making up for each others' weakness" instead of "we're each making up for the weakness of one weapon with our selection of the other?"
    Maybe this stuff works on uprising and malice, but it's going to be terrible habits to try to carry into damnation.
    Here's a tip you glossed right over, and that pubs almost never do: tag the pingable enemies. Everybody can tag 1 enemy at a time and having 4 specials or elites highlighted is a hell of a lot better for team coherency in the real sense of the word, not the game sense of it, than 0-1. It can be hard as hell to see elites through the walls of flamer fire or smokescreens from grenades, and even if you're not asking for help with the enemy, being able to see it is much, much easier when they're bright-red and wallhacked.
    P.S. Just saw you unloading a bolter into like 3 or 4 poxwalkers, gotta say I would've edited that out of a public video in which I was going to try to take an authoritative stance on how-to-play.

Drives me absolutely nuts when I'm there trying to keep overwatch on the entire team, but one guy is sprinting on forwards alone without the slightest clue if anyone is actually still with him or not, the other is running off sideways down a dark alleyway to _chase_ a trapper that slipped away, and the last guy is stuck way behind desperately trying to fight through the horde to catch up, having to back-pedal into walls or off a cliff because he's too swarmed to be able to turn and see where he's going.
    And I'm just there in disbelief, having to be the one to choose which one to save, and which two will go down. It's such a common situation that it's just unreal.
    If you're ever taking point at the front and you leave concurrency, then you've gone too far forwards.

    i had no idea you auto block when you revive and you can possibly do it if you got stamina, but with that said does your weapon matter when it comes to blocking when you revive? because some melée weapons do have greater block stats than the others like the shovel for instance, if so that's another good reason to maybe bring a melée weapon that is good at blocking.
    also from my own experience the greatest threat when playing veteran is always elites and specials and ogryns especially if there's a lot of them barreling down on you, yeah range normal gunners is tough to deal with if you lack the range suppression/killing potential but it's not insurmountable which dealing with a big number of elites and specials can be.
    that's why i atleast tend to favor the plasma gun and the bolter over any other gun with the veteran because everything else is difficult but manageable.
    i really like the helbores and the braced autoguns, but they just won't bail you or your team out of a pinch when there's simply too many elites coming at you at once, the helbore could deal with a lot elites but it becomes really difficult when there's a lot of enemies around or you have a lot of elites just right ontop of you.
    For example you can maybe deal with 1 or 2 ragers that's rushing you down but it becomes a whole different equation if there's 4 to 6 ragers rushing you down.

    Unless you're an Ogryn don't attempt to revive if there's 3 or more active melee or 1 ranged enemy targeting you, because they can and will consistently cancel the revive given how quick their attack speed is without you fighting back. So, either stagger or kill enough of them to attempt a revive. Nets are a bit easier, but wouldn't attempt it with 5 or more active enemy, and ideally not around a living Trapper.
    Additionally, COMMUNICATION, even if you don't have a Mic you still have Chat and the Tag Wheel for a fucking reason, use them. Such as during the Mumi example, had Zerk called out the fact they were near death and there was a Med Station around, the other two might have been less inclined to take it and Mumi might have finally realized it themself.

    1- Ogryns should be revive bots. Their revive can't be interrupted by damage, so if you're playing Ogryn, FOCUS ON REVIVES.
    2- While that certainly can be an issue, I'd say that it's mostly the game's fault at this point. It only shows you what melee weapon everyone is carrying pre-match (doesn't even show guns) and if you just play as a drop-in player, might as well forget about this point.
    You should try to cover some roles, but you'll never cover them all. I usually play as Zealot with Thunderhammer and Flamer: Great single target damage + Great crowd control and AoE damage, but I'm a sitting duck versus long range enemies.
    3- Very true. They mostly just focus on killing enemies and ignore that fucking Data Interrogator beeping noise or searching for the canisters or killing infesting daemons.
    4 - Also true, but the levels can be deceptively sinous and people sometimes just want to do the fucking side objective. Too many people kill themselves searching or worse, GOING BACK for a side objective when we've reached the extraction phase.
    5 - This is redundant, since splitting up too far is pretty much failing teamwork.
    But we all know that the real nº 1 reason is:
    Someone fucking triggered the Daemonhost

    One of the near-wipes today was on the upload false data in the waterworks map. At the top of the midway elevator we had a rough start with a pox horde, shotties and specials. I think a bomber retreated to the bridge and pursuing fire woke up everyone on the bridge including at least one sniper way back. One guy got downed, then the guy trying to res him got downed like the scene in Full Metal Jacket. Our surviving Ogrin did not have shield and was now separated from me by the mass of enemies. I had a lasgun and managed to tag a sniper and avoid it shooting me, but was getting hit by pox and could not make the shot. We linked up and made room, but had to let the two die before we could take the sniper out. Luckily they both spawned on the other side of the bridge and no boss decided to show up so the run went pretty well after that.
    It is better to lose a player or two if you are definitely going to get killed trying to save them.

Why people rush to get someone up from a down i will never understand because youre just putting yourself in a position to be dragged down with them.

    "Long range-ing." What you're looking for is a Sharpshooter for Counterfire/Countersniping. This is generally the role I take up on my veteran since I wanted to theme her as such. Ironically I got so good at it that I wound up being able to do it with everyone else. Scab Snipers didn't tend to last long around me and even my Ogryn with the grenade launcher was to be feared. They'd look up from their scope at 50m away after whiffing a shot only to see the Thumper grenade make contact with their face.
    I would also say that map familiarity is also a big issue. Being able to recognize key locations where the game is likely to fuck you and KNOWING you have to four man coherency is a big issue. Two of the biggest problems I run into is the Vertical Battlefield on the desert stage and the viral sample map in total. The vertical battefield seems to fuck everyone as the game decides that the place it's going to hit you with enemy spam and even on T1s you'll get a wipe if you're careless. It's very easy to get split up which will cause a wipe. Knowing where and how to move together helps you get through.
    The Virus sample mission is one of those that is incredibly poorly designed. There are extremely few med stations to counter the near endless hordes you run into the second you drop the Servo Skull for the first time. Knowing how it moves, WHERE it moves, and what to do after it stops is what fucks most people on that map and make it a nightmare to run even at lower difficulties. And while you get a brief reprieve at the demon tree after finishing its circling, the dash for the extraction zone is complicated by yet MORE endless hordes surrounding you at two key points before you finally make it to the Valkyrie.
    Daemonhosts. Oh lord DH's. Listen I don't mind fighting them but even on T1s they are incredibly dangerous. The ENTIRE TEAM must commit to fighting a Daemonhost. If even ONE person gets distracted for too long and takes their attention and damage away from focusing a Daemonhost, it WILL cost you. I've had people sass me before saying 'It's only T1' before triggering a DH while the rest of the team wasn't ready or busy fighting off other enemies.
    We killed it but wound up nearly TPK running on less than a wound each and it still got someone so we were a three man rescue mission. Do NOT underestimate a DH. Hell the one time I had zero trouble killing a DH because someone didn't communicate they were going to fight it, it cost me the Kill a Monstrosity in 5 seconds penance because *I* didn't focus on killing it. I was too busy typing while the rest of the team was opening fire. It when down in 7-11 seconds once I corrected myself.

    Great video. I have been plagued by so many of these problems, but I think the one where people don't check behind them is the worst. It's so simple, "keep your head on a swivel" and all that, but so many people have truly atrocious situational awareness. I've literally been soloing a horde in a doorway with my power sword and turned around to find my teammates have run off. Another that gets me, which I think probably fits under "teamwork", is how rare it is to find people who understand the concept of a "fatal funnel." The horde _will_ come to us! Let them bunch up in the narrow hallway! It's why my favourite loadouts are always self-sufficient, at least to whatever degree I can manage.

    Ok proposal for mod or update to fix the role situation:
    When you jump on a team at the load screen you are prompted to pick from the roles you fulfill with little icons like a cross hair for range, something for crowd control etc. It would be quick and easy to select wouldn't increase time to depart much and would let everyone advertise what they are doing at a point where you can still change your gear. If you're joining a mission already in progress you can get a few seconds to see the team in the field, what they are reping and change your kit.

    i do have a difference in opinion on point 1 as my experience seems to be different than yours, most times i end up with the team wiping due to revives its because people come over to revive, get interrupted by melee attacks, try again and get interrupted and then finally get downed then the other two who were trying to kill the stuff around come to help and get downed as well...this happens to me far more often, I've even had it once where a team ended up leapfrogging. three people were downed and upon reviving one person the live member went down and each team member took a turn getting revived and reviving one until inevitably we got wiped. i feel like the clip you showed can even support my mindset on this point, the first zealot ran through a bunch of enemies, separating himself from the rest of the team and then being interrupted by the ragers his choice was to flee and fight or be downed during the revive, whereas if he backed up to the rest of the team and took out the ragers(i.e prioritized his own survival) first they might have stood more of a chance from the coherency boost and then revived you after, even if they didnt get to you in time there is always the chance to rescue you later, the ogryn however 100% agree on the first point, when he had no enemies to deal with he should have come straight to you but whats interesting is that it almost looks like after the first strike he disregards the two melee scabs and goes for the rescue before he gets downed, but without seeing the 2 seconds where you looked away thats just supposition.

    I think you missed one other very important one, The Penance Chaser. This is a very special kind of public player that rears their heads every so often, especially on Heracy. Into a match you go only to see the dreaded words "hey can we try and run through this in under 20 mins?" Or the veteran who refuses to shoot because they're packing a revolver and only unloads it into hordes trying to get 100% accuracy.
    I have had pug teams quite often with both at the same time, creating the most awful experience ever. The "Revolver Octlot" cosplayer are not too bad as they inevitably rage quit when I headshot the mobs they are aiming at and miss (I do this purposefully to get them to leave asap) however the 1 HP cleric speed runners... now that's a diffrent story. I can't think of a worse player than the one that spends 65% of the game on 1 HP and the other 45% being dead as they speed run into a crusher pack.
    These pop up enough in my matches to be an issue, the other thing is when your in Heracy+ and really struggling and team mates go out of there way to pick up grims... I understand they are there. But I'm just not good enough to pull a struggling team through with -33% health that is now slowly degrading, I ask them to destroy it and if they don't I just leave, literally no point wasting time. This is not to say I leave every time someone picks up a grim, but when iv had to revive people 5 times, everyone's on super low HP and we have almost wiped already and some guy is like LOLOLOLOL Grim, just no.

    @13:24 and I’ve held my tongue long enough. 900 hours VT and just as many as Darktide, let explain why you’re half wrong in that section:
    Yes, you do want to get through OBJ and missions ASAP. But not because of simply survival, but because the spawns will get progressively more and more heavy/the longer you take. The tide games have a director and a spawner. The director is taking in all sorts of info such as time elapsed, amount counts, damage taken/healed etc. all the while the spawner is asking the director for permission to send more squads our way. The spawns are time gated, but that gate shrinks more and more the longer a mission drags on and the more you die. Full details on the spawner have never been released but one would also surmise that ammo counts are also accounted for as well.
    Point is: listen to the remainder of this video and you’ll prevent random squads of crushers spawning in
