Great video! I agree on the Mungyo. I bought sets of Van Gogh, Expressionist and Gallery to try out and I found the Mungyo to be the nicest to work with of the three as well (:
La, la, la, LOVE my Mungyo pastels. I bought them because of your past video. I had a cheaper set at the time that were driving me crazy. Thanks for your great videos my friend. Have a great week. :)
Absolutely agree with your number 1. I just ordered the very same set from Amazon for like $22.00 USD, They are flat-out gorgeous. And not just “gorgeous” in appearance, but the pigment load and workability is so nice and so easy to lay-down...no stickiness or gunkiness. I also bought a portrait set of the Sennelier and they are very highly rated, but I honestly like the Mungyo better, although I haven’t given the Sennelier a real workout yet. I did a kind of abstract swatching of the Mungyo on a 6x8 gesso board (by Ampersand) and it blew me away. Once a bit dry, the touch is like velvet. No kidding. It may be worth ordering another set because I’m not sure the colors are available individually? I don’t want to be without them, that’s for sure.
Just got the MUNGYO Gallery Artist Soft Oil Pastels 48 set you showed, and I'm so excited! They literally came in today, and I just swatched them out and they feel lovely.
Yes Syndia I already saw in a channel calles Lunar Splash about the MUNGYO ART GALLERY 72 OIL PASTEL STICKS, and yes it's so good I think that set have the best range of color than other pil pastel sticks sets, you can also try the Pentel Artist oil pastels of 48 , good video I like to know that there are other people artists like you who like the OIL PASTELS 😍😍😍
Mungyo Gallery was my first set. $25 for 48 colors and they are absolutely exploding with pigment! They really blow me away, and I recently got my first 18x24 mixed media sketchbook with the intent to make pastel portraits with it. After messing with the expressionist pastels too, I feel more comfortable with these than ever
Thank you for this comparison! I’ve started playing with oil pastel and bought a Cray-Pas Junior artist set along with the Sennelier white. Works great! I could not find a Mungyo set that was labeled as non-toxic. Amazon sets show it in the photo, but they send you one without the seal of non-toxicity
I am trying to get back into art to have a hobby again and these videos are so helpful! I was wondering what kind of pencil is able to draw over the oil pastels? I’ve seen something about graphite pencils but I’m not sure. I just want the color to be very black over the oil pastels. Thanks
Nothing can go over oil pastels unfortunately. You can use black oil pastel or use a black acrylic under painting (under oil pastel but not over). Hope it helps :o)
Hi, im trying to set foot in using oil pastels, and in 5$ i can get a set of 50-colours pentel, and in like 25$ i can get the 48-colours mungyo gallery pastels. Is pentel that bad, is it ok if i just go for the pentel brand? Because its much more cheaper, or should i just go ahead and buy the mungyo one?
I'm looking for alternatives for the Caran D'ache Neocolor I, and I'm confused. Are these oil pastels? I have a tin of 10 to try them, and I love how they work, though they are bit pricey, but can't find something similar.
I agree that the Mungyo Artist is one of the best of the student grade oil pastels but find the Erengi to be quite comparable to them. Do you find that the Pentels have a strong smell? I have two sets of those and both of them smell strongly which makes me not really enjoy using those.
Hi there. Thanks a lot for all your tests ! Did you try the faber castell, and the Caran d'ache ? I have a few sennelier, but i'm a afraid of using them before i try to master a bit more the technique. And i'm looking for a harder oil pastel, for details, lines. I read the craypass are the harder, is that true ? Thanks in advance, and sorry for my english (and i read you are french canadian, so, if switching to french is a possibility, that would be great, i feel i'm butchering the english language each time i speak or write it...).
You're doing a great job in english!
@@SyndiaArt OMG, thank you so much! Noted! I'm starting to love oil pastels! I think I need to learn a lot but thanks for your videos. Very informative. 💜
Hi Syndia! I’ve gained so much since joining your channel that I’m going to sign up for your Patreon account for October. Can’t wait to see you there!!!
Sorry, can't agree with Pentel. I bought a set of these and they are waxy. Terrible quality. Not at all easy to blend. I would never buy these again. Not sure if they are even worth using, because of how hard and waxy they are.
Same here, Mungyo is the best and I like the price. Loving your oil pastel video series. Thank you for doing these videos.
I'm glad you're enjoying them. There will be 2 more coming up next week :o)
Great video! I agree on the Mungyo. I bought sets of Van Gogh, Expressionist and Gallery to try out and I found the Mungyo to be the nicest to work with of the three as well (:
They are SO good! :o)

I have bought mungyo soft oil pastels.Their pigment is good and rich as compared to other cheap oil pastels
Great video!! You have helped me so much and I have fallen in love with oil pastels!! Thank you!
I'm so glad it helped! :o)
The Gallery pastel is amazing. Love, love, love your videos... thank you!

I've been searching for oil pastel comparison videos for a long time! I am so happy to find your channel
:o) Welcome to the OP club Anna!
in the uk on amazon you can get the pentel arts 50 set for £8, not including postage x
Prices vary a lot based on location... but luckily sometimes we can get really good deals :o)
I bought the mungyo gallery, hopefully it will be good!❤

can you make a video about the mungyo gallery student grade, actually i just bought it yesterday
So glad to find a Canadian artist!!!! Very frustrating to watch a tutorial using materials I can’t get here in NB
Really nice to have you join the fun! :o)
I just got the first ones two weeks ago!

Pentel is not that bad no. It depends on your budget. I'd say to get started with pentel if you're just trying it out for the first time.

Hi! What kind/brand of paper/s would you recommend while using Pentel oil pastels? There's a blending problem whenever I used it.
I like Canson Mix Media Paper :o) And blending with a little bit of baby oil and a tiff brush helps.

anyone tried Faber-Castell oil pastel?
I did it wasn't the best though to me its a meh
Mungyo is the best, I would say even stands out among the artist grades.
Completely agree!!
I am using Mungyo now but it's just hard to use, cuz I am not that professional in oil pastels 😂. Would you atleast give a tutorial how to use Mungyo?
I've done lots of tutorials. You can search my channel I'm sure you'll find something useful :o)
mungyo in my country is so expensive
The Junior set by Cray-Pass is also very good for the price (here it's not expensive).
