I have been working on with Pentel oil pastels (since I'm still a student and I cannot afford expensive pastels), it's actually good. I apply a lot of layers because of my art style, which is expressionism. It's actually good though you are right. I also observed that Pentel is more likely to dry after years without using it. I recommend you should frequently use it to avoid drying up.
I am curious how the Sennelier white compares to the Paul Ruebens? I am new to Oil Pastel and I bought a set of 6 Paul Reubens whites because they were recommended on Reddit. They are very very soft and bright and opaque which I love for final highlights. Good to see that performance on the Juniors. I recently got the Expressionists and I was surprised how much I liked them but I can only get replacement whites in the Junior line.
This video made my day, I was feeling blue and then I saw you in my subscriptions. I have a small set of Sennelier, as well as Expressionists and the Mungyo Gallery. My favourite for the money has to be the Mungyo Gallery, yes the Sennilier are beautiful but, I kind of treasure them except for the whites. as you said I have whites for blending. Thank you for doing these oil pastel videos, I so appreciate them. ❤️
I'm so glad it made you feel better! I'm the same way, sometimes I'm a little sad or anxious and then a RUclipsr puts out a video and it makes everything a little better :o) I wish Sennelier was more affordable... I totally agree with you, Gallery all the way!!
I would be very curious to see you do some comparisons with two Indian brands (Doms & Camlin Camel). They are both inexpensive and available on eBay, directly from India at very affordable prices. I also bought a set of 36 BIC for kids which are hexagonal with pointed ends; they’re not bad and I’m an impressed “beginner”! Lastly, what don’t you like about the Mungyo Gallery basic pastels which are also great value?
you must try greebel artist oil pastel from indonesia, this product is very cheap for the money quality it has. even the quality can be juxtaposed with mugyo galery oil pastel at a price 50% cheaper. I highly recommend it for young artists.
A very interesting and very useful experiment, shows I think their characteristics very well! Thank you! ps. I also agree on Senn white. I keep other whites as well because they work differently, but Senn white is like a dream in creating ethereal atmospheres.
Thank you for the reviews, I have no idea of how advanced you are with oil pastels but I would like to recommend to you to try to spread your oil pastel (hint:Sennelier) with Gamsol. If you have not, you need to experiment that and upload a video, it will be a hit I imagine. I experimented, for one year and a half most mediums except for etching and oil pastels, which i started 2 weeks ago with few senneliers and a few expressionist, Van Gogh and a crappy reeves pastels. Your reviews are very helpful but Gamsol is the perfect companion for oil pastels. Oh and it is a game changer. This is where one can distinguish good from bad quality pastels.plz give it a try and kindly, upload a vid if u think that is okay.
I have used Gamsol with oil pastels :o) You'll see it pop in a few videos. I just dislike that it's toxic. I prefer a bit of baby oil even if it's not conventional (ie pro). Here is a more advanced video if you're curious :o) ruclips.net/video/mdfkVdLmHtU/видео.html
I bought the Mungyo pastels. I honestly haven't played with them much, but the colors looked much more vibrant than the Expressionist set I had. I gave that one away. I wasn't happy with it at all. Great video. :)
Hi I have them and on my opinion they are not bad. I do the coloring and it just take take time and patience to blend them. I have a good blender do no problem. I have all of them at least the ones that she mentioned. It just take time that's all. 🌸🌸👍
Kind of disagree with Craypas Junior Artist as they scrape off the layers once you reach its limit and some colors are translucemt when mixed. Pentel did i'ts job.
Hey Syndia, I ordered the mungyo semi jumbo oil pastel... while attempting to draw over black pastels, I found that the gold and silver metallic ones actually streak over the black, no regular colors did that though. Have you successfully layered over black ? Further tips?
It's tricky... I try to avoid it. Sennelier would but it's more expansive :o/ When I want to layer over a black background I block the black areas with black acrylic paint then use oil pastels over it. (this only works if the paint is used on the 1st layer and not in subsequent layers).
If someone doesn't tell anyone which one is junior and which one is expressionist .... Nobody can differentiate between them they are similar but the price difference is not worth it..

Thank you ; you said correctly that every brand can give something good 🙏
I tried this same scenery with Royal Langnickel Essentials, it's probably between Crayola and pentel.

Sandia, you remind me of Julliette Binoche. Good job on the the art supply comparison. Thanks 😊
Have you done any comparisons with the Caran dAshe oil pastels? I’m trying to find a comparison between the Carans and the Senniliers
I still haven't tried those... they are on my loste for sure!
You are helping me so much thank you. I wish I could post it so you can see what I have done. Keep painting your an inspiration to us all.

Thank you for the comparison! I like the color depth of the Gallery oil pastel.. the Sennelier though :) Beautiful.
I agree!! The Gallery is so beautiful :o)
can you please test Indian oil pastels
I've tried ordering some in the past but unfortunately they never came in the mail (I live in Canada).
Fantastic video! Merci beaucoup ^_^
Happy you liked it! Bonne journée :o)

Sooo much!! I love Sennelier white, so regal! :o)
Have you tried out the watersoluble mungyo oil pastels yet?
Not yet :o)

I agree with you on the expressionist front... And this test was very interesting, I was surprised at the results!! Have a great week Amy! :o)
Plese review camlin kokuyo artist set 50 shades which costs around 7$ . Please
I'll see if they are available but as I am in Canada, I don't have access to all the brand.
You motivated to try out oil pastels. I bought Pentel Arts, 50 colors. Any luck with those?

Hello. Thank you for this video is very helpful! I would like to ask you I you are interested in testing water soluble oil pastels.
I'd like to test water soluble oil pastels at some point for sure! :o)
What oil pastels would you recommend for a beginner?
Cray-Pas Junior (best inexpensive set). or Gallery (my faves!).

@@SyndiaArt thank you for the tip!
I'm watching your videos pretty much daily for inspiration
Thanks so much!! :oD Have a great weekend
I personally love Crayola pastels there do bright looking
They may be hard to blend sometimes but I've never had them ball up
I think mine dried out...
If someone doesn't tell anyone which one is junior and which one is expressionist .... Nobody can differentiate between them they are similar but the price difference is not worth it..
Yes, I was very surprised at that...
Cool idea! Btw crayola and pentel suck 😁
You are beautiful
