  • Took a ride down the Pea River with the Jon Boat. I've never had the mud motor stuck till now lol but it was kinda my fault I just needed a little more speed. The Pea River is a beautiful river and I've always enjoyed getting on it. I put in the last place I took out on my last kayak trip if that makes sense link to that video below!

    what length is your boat, your weight and HP ? I'm just getting into mm. Top speed? TIA.

    • @Bamaoutdoors
      @Bamaoutdoors  6 месяцев назад +1

      It's a older model 14/36 tracker topper and the motor is a predator 420 which is a 13hp. I'm really not sure what the weight is but it's pretty light just by itself. As for a speed I can run around 15 give or take comfortably but my top speed is around 20 but your pretty much fighting it when you're running top speed because the long tail does try to jump out of the water on you because of the prop spin.

    Man, it’s been too long since you put up a new video! Columbus-Holley Landing is where I rescued my little bulldog, Chill, when I did my Launches & Landings video there…you shoulda rounded up those chickens and took them home! Unbelievable how much water you had in the river there, too…everything else around is about dried up to nothing. Looking forward to more video soon, Travis…take care and Stay Safe!

      It sure has and it felt good to get out on the river for sure. Yeah I was really surprised the water was up that much. If the wife was with me she would have loaded them chickens up lol. I've been wanting to do a video series like you did over my way on launches and landings.

    How much fuel did you burn?

    • @Bamaoutdoors
      @Bamaoutdoors  5 месяцев назад

      Funny you ask I just did a video on some testing I did as for as fuel. Should be out this weekend. But to answer your question I'm getting around 15 miles per gallon of gas. I just ordered a tachometer for it so I'll test it with that soon and that should give us a little more information.

      Lol it's pretty secure the way I have the motor hooked.

      It's 3/4" pex pipe and I used it to run wires through to my battery form the front to the back.

    I likely a weird fella ! The one thing I do not quite understand or agree with is !
    A long tail ! A taiwanese long tail ! It not a MUD MOTOR !
    I like taiwanese long tails ! I think they a very capable and inexpensive !
    I even own one myself ! I also own long tail go devils !
    A long tail go devil is a beast in the mud and it not afraid to pick a fight with a stump or a log either ! The prop on a taiwanese long tail is somewhat delicate to be truly in the mud and it ought not pick fights with stumps or logs ! My point is ! A taiwanese long tail and a MUD MOTOR are two different animals !
    I in south louisiana ! We got mud here !
    Most often !
    We call what yall call rivers ditches ! Rivers here are a bit wider :) A good bit wider !

    • @Bamaoutdoors
      @Bamaoutdoors  7 дней назад

      Them are some valid points. I think the Tai long tails are a good inexpensive way to get into the game. The Go devil brand is well built from what I've heard and the price reflects that lol. I've not had any trouble with mine at all so I would say it's well built. I would like to get a surface drive one day and try that out.

      @@Bamaoutdoors I think a Tai long tail is a fine boat motor !
      I think one will take you most anywhere you need to go !
      More to it than just inexpensive or get started !
      Damn fine engine for a boat to fish or camp or go shallow or whatever !
      The weakest thing I see on them is the knockoff engines !
      For not really that much more a fella could have a real quality japanese engine that will run many times longer than the knockoff !
      The japanese engines are really built to higher tolerances out of better materials and are well balanced !
      They might cost twice as much but will run many times longer !
      In as far a tai long tails go ! SPS is the top dog there in Thailand
      It every Thais dream a SPS with a GX 390 honda ! They there have a engine called the Honda GX390T2 QBP Mega ! It not for export to the U.S.
      Anyway it a hot tuned variable load ignition timing and a honda claimed horsepower of 15 plus and a max rpm of 5000 !
      Yes I a huge fan of Tai long tails !
      Thing is !
      They not a typical outboard and they not a go devil either :)
