Over the years I have heard you say you don’t want to bore your viewers with the same tasks over and over. First of all, it is a wonderful reminder of what I may need to look at in my own garden. Secondly, it is good to see how someone else does a task. We can all learn from each other. There have been so many times I’ve watched and thought your way was an easier way. From tools you and Aaron use to techniques, they have been so helpful. I’m all about your message of work smarter not harder! Thank you for sharing!
Absolutely! I’m 73 and working smarter is so important.LOVE my drill and auger set up. Here in upstate New York we have rocks and lots of clay soil. The auger is life changing.
Thank you for this video and each and every one! I inherited a mobile home in a land owned park in San Diego county. I take care of the landscaping and learn every day from Laura and Aaron. Am 78 now, still trimming, pulling weeds, tweaking everything. Bless you for making every day much better❤
The appearance of the cats is one of my best parts of the videos, I am not a cat person, but these are sassy. Cheddar has no interest in being an internet sensation he rarely makes an appearance. 😊
I wasn’t a cat person, until I saw hers! I wanted a garden buddy too! Now I’ve somehow ended up with four LOL. A cat that showed up the same day we talked about getting one, then she had babies, I kept two to prevent giving them to strangers, and we thought okay that’s PLENTY. Then mom’s brother showed up skin and bones…. It all happened so fast. I’m allergic!
@@SdragonflyS Yes it was absolutely insane! We had talked about getting one in passing a couple times, then one day we were standing in the kitchen and agreed okay yeah we should start looking for one! I finished cleaning up from lunch so maybe 15 minutes go by, I looked out my back door and there she was! Sitting on my porch, making eye contact with me!!! I rubbed my eyes like on cartoons lol. Could not believe it. She was so frail and dirty and sad but came right up to me purrin. Ate all the cold leftover mcnuggets we had lol. Ugh I love her. I love the kids and Brother too but that's my girl, always. Thank you CDS 🙏 and screw the person(s) that left her outside un-spayed and collarless to starve. Sorry!!
Laura, I’m so very grateful that I found you and Aaron. You are a huge inspiration, source of continuous information. I’ve gardened for years and learning everyday!
I enjoy all your videos, and watch you everyday. I have never commented on your videos before. But after seeing this one on spraying your trees, I was compelled to make a comment. I have gardened for 50 years and sprayed for many different diseases in my garden. I did learn in the last several years, it is wise to wear eyeglass protection, gloves, and a mask. I also immediately remove clothing and shower. We are told these products are safe to use, but over time we find out some are not. Some of these chemicals we are exposed to can cause very harmful consequences to our bodies. I feel it is impossible to avoid all spray back on our body or clothing when using these products even on the best days. I hope everyone will be safe in their gardens.
YESSSS! @ 13:10 is the background music that makes me clap along and dance in my desk chair LOL! I wish I had that music to listen to when I was gardening. So motivating!
There are preditory insects that will combat your codling moths. Green lace wings, and parasitic wasps are just two. A lot of organic orchards growers here in the valley I live concentrate on the lacewings and a couple of others.
Thank you for the reminder! I have two small peach trees to spray. Also, your pruning advice is so very helpful. You give me not only the knowledge but the courage to go out there and cut them back as needed. Looking forward to all the spring projects, in your garden and mine!
I really enjoyed the little chat about upcoming tasks - very motivating and gives an idea of what this upcoming season will entail! Also Russell is just the sweetest!

These cleanup videos are always such good motivation! I also appreciate your willingness to move plants around when there is a better fit. Watching this has cured me of the need to plant everything just so and keep it there whether it works there or not. Thanks for taking us along, and for your contagious enthusiasm for all things gardening. Enjoy your weekend everyone!!
For years I did not have the courage to cut my Russian sage right back. The I watched how you did it. So last year I cut it right back to 4 inches and wow, what a difference. Great growth and flowering. So pleased.
Good morning! I would love to be out there with you doing the clean up. I’ve learned so much from you over the years but actually being there helping would be so much more enjoyable.
I live in zone 4... and can I just say that these clean-up videos of yours are keeping me sane!! 😅I cannot wait for the snow to melt to start working on my flowerbeds, so in the meanwhile, I'm living vicariously through you! THANK YOU!!! 😁
Good morning, Laura ☕️ All these clean up videos have me itching to get into my gardens! I love that chubby branched pine tree! 😍Have a Blessed Day 😊🐈🐈
You give me the courage to move plants and prune hard! This spring I’m going to move about a dozen hosta, prune lots of bushes and plant 3-4 new evergreens - the evergreens are my tribute to Aaron - ha! Thanks for teaching all of us.
I think we all have spaces in our gardens that don’t grow into what we initially imagined. I’m planning to root prune several shrubs along my front foundation this week to prepare them for transplanting in another month or so. It’ll be a lot of work but also an opportunity to plant some new things! I’m actually looking forward to it! Happy Friday y’all!
I really appreciate your channel all year but when times are stressful in life, I enjoy a reprieve in the evenings by watching your videos. Thank you so very much, Laura.
Thanks for the reminder to get out & spray mine . We just have lost our snow. Just a reminder, you should wear safety glasses when spraying. You never know when a gust of wind may blow that spray right back in your face. Love all of your videos. ❤❤
Good Morning! 🌞 Thank you for the refresher, especially the Proud Berry! I plan on doing my clean up when the weather shapes up & the snow is gone! ✂️🍎🍏🍐🌳🙂💚
💜🎶Good morning Garden Answer ... its February 2nd Happy Groundhog day , it's cloudy in the morning.. Is the Groundhog telling me I can start cleaning my garden this month !! Thanks Laura.. I appreciate your hard work 💜🎶🇨🇦
Chants: MORE CLEANUP VIDEOS!! 😂😂 I could definitely enjoy a whole day of cleanup, I think it's so satisfying to see everything get chopped and a fresh new start! 🤭
I really appreciate this series on pruning and maintenance. It wakes up my sleeping gardening mind and reminds me of the good gardening practices you use.
i love these videos... it reminds me i need to spray my fruit tree (small yard, only 1 ha) and get after it with the rest of my cleanup.. we are having a winter rain storm down here so it won't happen for a while but my point is: i never get bored with your videos... i love watching you work and your instructions are always so clear and thought out... and i love seeing your gardens all year long... never think any of us are bored or we wouldn't be here 💞💞💞 🥰❤thanks for the video!! 🥰❤
You have certainly got a jump on spring chores this year. Michigan had been cold and wet, so no doing anything that involves walking on gardens.. Will just have to wait a while. I did take a walk finally with no gloves!
Been faithfully following Laura since when she just started RUclips, only had about 26k subscribers till today, I must say that I can't function right without watching her video every morning. None of her videos are boring at all, it's always something that I can learn from. The best part is we get to grow with her channel, her property size, and her families! Love Laura and Aaron, they are the best!!❤❤
Laura it might be time to find tall plant tags like one might see at a botanical garden for your expanding garden. I’ve been following you forever and have so enjoyed your process of building this incredible garden. You have so many perennial trees and plants around the property now, it would be lovely to honor them with an impressive, tall name tag. You’ll never have to jog the memory to remember names of all your plantings. With the recent purchase of additional property, I’m sure the practice of labeling things will be beneficial down the line. It’s been wonderful watching you and your husband build this beautiful garden and what a wonderful legacy for your entire family. ✨
Hi Laura I had to laugh when Russel was with you near the end of the video you were explaining why you need to shift some plants and he was looking at the plants as if he understood every word. Thx for sharing winter is also a beautiful time in the garden it gives me time to reflect and do catch up ;-).
When you said thrift I thought are those bugs 😂 I’m a ding dong I was worried did she plant bugs what the heck😂❤ yes I’m that member a gardener in progress don’t judge me🤣🤣❤️
Net your trees Laura. It’s a lot easier than bagging branches or individual fruit. Just make sure your nets are white and bird-friendly. Tie off on the trunk.
Thanks for the reminder. I need to get out and get the fruit trees sprayed. I love how you explain everything and make me feel like I can tackle all the projects.
Hi Laura , l watch you every day, love how the cats follow you, question ! Where do the cats sleep at night? I have learned a whole bunch about plants and the care, l can now hopefully work on our garden. Thank you.😊 ❤
For codling moth here in Australia we often use a corrigated cardboard collar folded in half and wrapped around the trunk to stop the grubs getting to the blossoms. You need to empty the bugs out regularly into a bucket of water. Seems to work most times.
1) UPWIND, you want to stay UPWIND of your spray, or else you end up covered in spray... 2) where's your PPE? You need to be wearing goggles at the absolute minimum - just because it's for organic gardening doesn't mean you want it on your skin or in your eyes. ❤️

Just a thought about the apple tree. You can buy fruit tree netting, if your trees are not too big, that's an option. I am going to buy a netting for my Green Stalk to protect against cabbage months. However, it does affect pollination.

Sprayed my citrus and my roses with dormant oil this weekend and then woke up to video from GA and WyseGuide this week doing the same. Never felt more on top of my gardening game! Woohoo! 🎉 Ha! New for me
This is a good reminder for me to spray my trees as well! I live about a half hour east of you and I have bagged my apples before. It worked well for me. I got maggot barriers from Raintree Nursery and used twist ties to put them on. It pretty much prevented bug damage. I have three apple trees, of which two are larger trees, so I have to bag over 400 apples, that’s a lot! That’s why I didn’t do it last year, as well as it being a pain to take them off when the apples ripen. I tried spraying spinosad instead last year and it didn’t work at all for me. I may have gotten the timing wrong, but I’m going back to bagging them this year. I think you’ll like not having to worry about spraying, if you can take the way they look, you’re a lot pickier about that than I am, lol, and you don’t have near the fruit to worry about yet. I think there were three generations of codling moth last year, so that’s a lot of timing and spraying. Best wishes!
Hi Laura have you heard of people putting Vaseline on the trunk of fruit trees to stop ants climbing onto trees, they protect aphids apparently from a short video i watched.
I just watched your video from last year and ordered everything! It’s funny because you mentioned NEEDING to remove the espaliered pear tree last year in that video as well haha. Anyways, thanks for the reminder!!

I have been so much more disciplined in cleaning up my flower bed since I started watching you. It's been a blessing and less work come spring.
Yes it is, but somewhat controversial as you do destroy some beneficial insects that way.
Love a good cutback video because it means Spring is coming. Ok ok it is only February but I have hope.
When you clean flowerbeds it tells me it won't be long till I can do mine.😊
There's something meditative about watching everyday chores. It may seem mundane, but it's relaxing and inspiring. Never boring.

Plant three rows of peas:
Peace of mind
Peace of heart
Peace of soul
Plant four rows of squash:
Squash gossip
Squash indifference
Squash grumbling
Squash selfishness
Plant four rows of lettuce:
Lettuce be faithful
Lettuce be kind
Lettuce be patient
Lettuce really love one another
No garden is complete without turnips:
Turnip for meetings
Turnip for service
Turnip to help one another
To conclude our garden, we must have thyme:
Thyme for God
Thyme for Reflection
Thyme for Prayer

Hi Laura , l watch you every day, love how the cats follow you, question ! Where do the cats sleep at night? I have learned a whole bunch about plants and the care, l can now hopefully work on our garden. Thank you.😊 ❤
I heard her say before that they sleep in the green house. The plastic is loose in a few places so they have easy access. 😊
For codling moth here in Australia we often use a corrigated cardboard collar folded in half and wrapped around the trunk to stop the grubs getting to the blossoms.

I love seeing these videos! It's a great reminder to get my peach and apple trees sprayed. I live in NC (zone 7-8ish) and my worst problem is Japanese beetles. I love the idea of not using chemical sprays. This year I used beneficial nematodes to hopefully help with them. Have you ever used them before? Of all the pests you talk about, I don't recall you mentioning Japanese beetles. I hope that's because you don't have issues with them! Love the videos!!
I personally love the garden cleanup…..as a novice gardener….learning how to take care of my garden
Great video. Love your enthusiasm and knowledge that you share with all of us.
That's so funny! I just said to myself yesterday I really need to remember to bring this year 😁
It's definitely nice to hear that you got your fruit trees sprayed I would hate to hear that you loss your fruit again
Oh sooooo beautiful!! 💕🩷❤️ I do a similar thing at Easter, with wooden eggs!! But the salt dough would be fun to do with grandsons! 💕🐣🐣
Such great reminders to spray our fruit trees and prepare for a great harvest.
This is helpful I'm planting 9 dwarf fruit trees this spring. Peaches, pears, apples
Just a thought about the apple tree. You can buy fruit tree netting, if your trees are not too big, that's an option. I am going to buy a netting for my Green Stalk to protect against cabbage months. However, it does affect pollination.
There are so many yarns and yarn weights now. This, video is a great reference to view before choosing a yarn for a project. I learned it’s still important to do a test swatch.
