I love that Regina was mad at Jason for hurting her friend, but she should’ve messed with him instead of Taylor. This scene is a great representation of how guys often get let off the hook for their own actions and instead the girls who were victims or innocent bystanders get blamed, even by fellow women.

Regina did it because anyone under her wing looking bad makes HER look bad. And it was also a power move showing Cady how she runs the school. Regina didn’t show any change until she got hit by a bus lol

Regina tries to put her in her place. There is even this new mean girl in her class that bullies another student and she stops her. Regina than becomes the new school principal and makes the school a better place. She also finds more time to spend with her daughter.

This movie was so excellently written and executed. Regina's character shines through so well. She's not just a mean girl. She's too smart for her age and she finds school and her peers so dull, as well as her own family, all of who she has outsmarted. Scenes like this as well as her whole strategy of befriending the hot new girl to ensure she'll keep her lower in the school status were genius ways of showing Regina's intelligence. The only reason she came crumbling down is because Cady earned her trust. Not that I'm encouraging her behavior, but intelligent characters are always nice to see on screen. And in the end she's just a teenage girl, it's not her fault her parents were too dumb to handle a smart kid. That's where her anger comes from.
That look that she gave after Gretchen says "Fetch" as if saying "Okay, this Fetch thing is strating to get on my nerves.... But I'll let it go this time" 😂😂😂😂

Only did that to save Gretchen from embarrassment because she was publicly seen with Jason at a house party. If people learn that Gretchen was replaced with another chick, it won't only reflect on Gretchen but to Regina as well. She was just trying to maintain this perfect image in her clique. She sees her friends as an extension of herself so she'd do anything to maintain that authority and won't let anybody step down on them and she didn't do it because she cares about Gretchen.

I love the very subtle emotion that Regina gives after she calls Taylor's mom at 0:48 - 0:50. She pauses just enough to contemplate what she has done. "maybe that wasn't a good thing to do" she thinks to herself but as teenagers she shrugs it off and moves on. I love that this shot was added because it's a very telling part on Regina's personality (especially early on in the film) that even though she's a "mean girl" she does have a conscience. Rachel McAdams is such a great actress but kudos also goes to the editor and Tina Fey for keeping that bit of editing in the film.

For many years I just remembered Lindsay Lohan was on Mean girls. After watch it again, I found Rachel McAdams was in it too. And then, Amanda Seyfried, and then Lizzy Caplan, and then Lacey Chabert. And even Tina Fey. These are all major actors in big movies and TV shows. What a cast!

Most people who faint in real life are only unconscious for a few seconds. They may feel unwell for a few minutes but it would still make sense for the mom to call Taylor so quickly.
