Thanks for making all these videos! It’s so much more valuable to learn from established producers like you on RUclips rather than generic content creators.
SH-5/MS-5 Parallel Bandpass Trick: The resonant bandpass filter can give you a super punchy and aggressive midrange, or a shockingly deep bass boost, depending on where you've set the cutoff. By sending one oscillator to the bandpass filter (with the resonance cranked), and the other oscillator straight to the VCA or lowpass filter, we were able to achieve some of the warmest but simultaneously aggressive basses we've ever heard. No other synth at this time (or now?) was capable of this type of processing. In fact, after using this technique extensively we read a Human League interview where they describe how discovering this bandpass filter changed their entire synth sound - pretty much the same experience we had.
Was trying to translate these techniques into FL last night (I know, I know) and I got close. Load a bunch of samples into Glitchmachines Tactic, bounce whatever weird stuff it makes, chuck that into Slicex, use the piano roll's Randomizer macro, fast decay in Slicex, use a plugin with a random pan option, touch of fast reverb, bingo bango glitchy percs! Hopefully useful for the 1% of other dance music producers that use FL 😅 Thanks for the idea Mr Ramirez, legend!
Dean, you come across as a proper nice guy! Instant subscribe, your video's are great! I always struggle with making the build-up (before the drop) sound exciting! You know with the snare rolls and effects so it makes the person on the dancefloor go crazy with excitment before the tension is released for the drop? If you could do a tutorial on that, that would be awsome!
Dean just wanted to say you're a fucking legend man. I used to idolise your music and try and produce like it back in the day, so this series is also really cool to see. Last time I recall your content you were using the Nord Lead. Good to see you around again
Well, i was here at the time of geist and manual delays on tracks, know all the tricks you are talking about, and then i say…knowledge is a thing, talent is a total other and d ramirez is both the two, totally…for the last part of the video i’d say, note on random (expression control), note delay midi effect (m4l) and arpeggiator, and autopan, and a slight reverb, and whatnot. Btw, who am i to speak to the goat 😂 thank you dean, and excuse me for the long comment
Great info D 👍 Sounds like just what I need to make my drums less boring and shite 😅 The glitchmachines plugs are also worth a shot, can do some mad stuff with them. Fracture XT is super fun
I took your Toolroom masterclass. You are such a talented teacher and producer. I wish you the best with this channel! Subbed!
Loving this series. No bullshit 1hr long videos on setting a reverb on a bus LOL. just really good informative info and examples. Thank You.
