Thanks for this Tim, so as we thought the other connect bus goes from platform A ,good to know if we come into Sheffield. Can't believe they're shutting the big Halifax, rubbish no banks to go into. Stonehouse pub was a great pub ,we always visited it on our hen dos, lots of fun thinking you were in a courtyard outside, shame its gone too.Hot day isn't it again today. Great ride round to see what Sheffield looks like just now.Take care 😊
So glad to finally find this video! Been searching for it since I saw you going past filming out the back window 🤣🤣🤣 my sister in Oz wanted to see it! Think I’m in it for about 10 seconds 🤣🤣🤣great video, the busses seem a lot noisier than I would have expected
Yes I thought electric buses would be quiet, video would have been excellent with clean back windows. Did I film you on Eyre St? I have also done the other bus route.
@@timawells It was just after you went passed the Metro bar turning right onto division street around the 8:55 mark, I was on the left pushing a wheelchair, yeah the mucky window did spoil it a bit but still got a good look at the route
Ta for this, as it's been a good number of year since my last visit to the city. It looks rather different than how I remember it... shame they filled in the plug hole, was my favourite place as a youngster, as my family called it.
You forgot to give 'Redgates' a mention at Moorhead - Shame on you Tim 🙂 Still, thanks for the video as its been perhaps 8 years since I bothered going to town. What a change though and sad decline of my once proud city. I prefer Dinnington & Worksop now as the parking is cheaper and the roads allow for cars to drive on them.
Morning Paul. This is the Connect 1, on Connect 2 Redgates got a mention. I found a really quick way into Sheffield through the Ulley and Catdliffe and free town centre parkin. I was out at Hardwick village yesterday, your grand daughter will like the Ford and ducks.
I found this bus ride hilarious in parts! It hi-lighted how empty it is on a sunny Saturday midday. Pond Street; i'm not sure why you thought it looked better because hardly any buses depart from there now. The original bus station had more character including a greasy spoon cafe. The ticket office closed years ago. The Leeds bus station is heated so was much better. I think the reason the the bus is empty is that people are just not going into town any more.
They have spent a lot of money on the bus station, I would say the quality is good, but no bridge across to the Fiesta building. Two people were on the bus, two got off and then one more lady got on. More people are living in Sheffield that ever, where are they?
Students mainly foreign, who live in city centre and the traditional type of shoppers no longer go because everything they went in town for: market, Debenhams, John Lewis, Wilko has now gone. Everything people loved including the Hole in the Road has gone. So have the people. Just afternoon drinkers on a Saturday. 😮
Only a couple of services in Bus station that are well used, X5 is one. Can load 80 people bwfore leaving at certain times. I remember as a young man trying to get through the bus station without getting into a fight.
so did shops and offices move away from the CBD and their premises demolished to be replaced by glass tower blocks with no character ? The idea of bringing people into the city centre to live looks good on paper. Do these new city residents work in the centre and where do they get their groceries from? Are the new residents contributing much at all to the central city economy?
Not quite the same though is it. You have to walk out of the bus station and up stairs. It was an escalator up the bus station to the bridge and further lifts up to the hole in the rd.
@@timawells yea use to be escalators all the way up been gone a long time now though did a full walk through of sheff a couple of months ago from the wicker and although a lot of good things are happening the old market area like you said has been completely abandoned which is disgusting, enjoy you videos mate

Are you talking about the X5 to Dinnington. We could fill it up at Dinnington and Anston, now no one gets on here as it takes too long.
Yes Tim to Dinnington. A lot board in bus station for Greencore.
Have you had a ride on it through to Maltby yet? @@timawells

The issue is too much of a service sector, we need more modern industry.
I don't recognise any of it really. 😕
Shocking isn't it.
There is still a walkway through the old fiesta building you just go up the little stairway rather then the old bridge
