  • I recently picked up a large lot of Dodgers minor league sets (and some from Durham Bulls) and odd ball team sets. Was a lot of fun and found minor league cards of Pedro Martinez, Mike Piazza, Chipper Jones, Koufax, and more.

    What a score! That is a sweet lot of minor league cards. I enjoy seeing the pre-fame/success photos on the minor league cards. In some cases they do hold high value like the Griffey, but I think a lot of them are undervalued and under appreciated. Nice find!

    Gave a video like. Love those 1980's team sets. That would have been a nightmare to try and buy all of those by individual team set. What a great find, Mark! The Pedro Martinez cards are sweet. Love the Orel Hershiser. He is a PC guy of mine.

    This is all very cool stuff that you just don’t see everyday. Love the Koufax coach card! I also enjoyed the Costner cards. These underrated sets like TCMA are fantastic! Topps Heritage still does (?) a minor league set that is pretty nice. I have a few of those type of minor league stuff. I also have some of the Pro Cards as well. Thanks for the video and thanks for sharing!

      Thanks Jay! I'd never seen these before so was a lot of fun. Haven't looked into the Heritage minor league and don't really know about any of the modern cards, but love seeing players who ended up in HOF in their early minor league career. Anyway, thanks for watching and commenting and have a great day!

      I was thrilled with this one and was so much fun to find them. I didnt' show all the people who made it to the majors, but there were a lot of people I followed and was fun to see all their minor league cards. Thanks for watching!

    Whoa, that's a huge score for $65! There is a blue-bordered Pedro from 1990 in one of those sets I believe. Any unopened sets are fairly easy to research on COMC. See what is available for sale - but always click on the "Only Sold Out" tab on the left. Often times the key cards are sold out and will either be key/obscure players or wacky pictures like the Comstock nut shot or Cubbie Bear for example. But the Sold Out section still lists the pictures of the cards not available. Sometimes actors or celebrities will even have cards. What a buy, congratulations Mark! I still need a few Pedro minor league cards if you have doubles and need to move any.

      Thanks for the info and for checking out my video. I was super stoked to have gotten this one. Was so much fun! I have a double on the Pedro where he is on the St. Antonio Missions, I think. I'l check.

    Man that is an awesome haul! Love minor league cards and tcma cards in particular. I actually just picked up the Ryno pre rookie. I’m gonna have to get those Dave Stewart’s…those are so great. The tcma set of the ‘52 dodgers is outstanding. Have a great weekend Mark

      @@MarksDodgersCards Was not aware Koufax doing a stint as pitching coach for the AAA Dukes. I read that he would help/advise the younger Dodger pitchers at Vero Beach FL (Dodgers training site when they were part of the "Florida Grapefruit League" during Spring Training). Not sure if he still makes the Spring Training rounds at their (Dodgers) present day Arizona Cactus League site.

    That Great Falls Dodgers card is Pedro's very first card. Not super valuable card, about $50-$70 in a PSA 9, but an awesome card nonetheless. It's Pedro's first appearance on a card. These late 70s and 80s minor league cards, imo, are very underrated. For starers, they are in many cases the player's first appearance on a card. Also, although bot rare, they are significantly more scarce than their junk wax overprinted mlb rookies. With some if these minor league sets, only a few thousand were printed, that's especially true for the TCMA sets from the late 70s and early 80s. And out of those several thousand sets, how many actually survived? Likely not many given that they were minor league cards. People or their mother's probably tossed them out when they left for college 😊. Some of them can fetch $$$ i.e., the 1980 TCMA Sandberg. Check out TCDB....most of the HOFers who started their career in the early 80s, including the late Rickey Henderson, have minor league cards which precede their mlb rookies. Even pre-war players like Lazzeri, the Waner brothers, Ernie Lombardi, Dazzy Vance, Cochrane, have minor league cards, ftom the PCL.....

    • @MarksDodgersCards
      @MarksDodgersCards  13 дней назад

      Thanks for all the info! Thats's very cool about the Pedro card being his first one. I'm glad I have it now! The prewar ones, you talking about the Zeenuts? I know those are pretty rare - a friend of mine has a whole album of them his grandfather left for him. They are very cool.

    • @bagwell78
      @bagwell78 13 дней назад

      Yes, the Zeenuts. They are out there but relatively scarce, especially in decent condition.
