Lindy helped turn a young Dallas team into the competitor they are today. He did the same with NJ, anyone who said that it was his fault that their season was going badly is just wrong. This team is ready for the same transition. He might not be the guy the Sabres win with, but he is the one that can get them to the next step.

Only problem is that he never coached Hintz, Robertson, Robertson, Heiskanen, Harley or Marchment. Benn & Seguin we already pretty developed as mid 60 pt players. He actually had a very veteran team all in all. Lindell & Klingberg definately developed under his coaching.

The point that Matthew makes about the connection to the fan base cannot be overlooked, but to knock it solely because he is a "retread" is just ridiculous when you see the way he turned around or elevated the play of Dallas and NJ. But it has to lead to immediate results. We'll never know how many other coaches the organization spoke to or reached out to or, maybe more important, how many teams contacted Lindy about their organizations. Biggest question is the assistant coaches that he brings in because Ellis basically failed.

Does anyone know what D-zone systems Ruff ran in Jersey and Dallas?

There has been a lot of chatter about the success of the Devils due to Andrew Brunette. That’s a lot of credit to hang on an assistant coach. He has 150 games as a head coach under his belt, and while his winning percentage is good (66%), Ruff as a much longer track record.

Safe & sensible hire. It will now be very interesting to see who they hire as assistant coaches. Hopefully they replace Wilford and Ellis asap . Does Jay Mckee want to make the jump to the NHL from the OHL? Would Chris Taylor and James Patrick be interested in returning to Buffalo and then theres also Michael Peca . Do you groom him to take over from Lindy in a few years .
Thanks for all your work guys, its much appreciated .

After watching the press conference, I am very disappointed. There was no energy, excitement, or enthusiasm in that press conference. It looked like Lindy wanted to take a nap more than anything else.
Kevyn Adams has no imagination whatsoever. He didn't do any in-person interviews of the top half a dozen available coaching candidates. He gained no useful information about his team from the interviews he chose not to do. He and Pegula just settled for Ruff. It was comfortable for them. This is not how top level organizations are run. This Sabres regime will not win anything. As a Sabres fan from their inception, this is depressing.
