    My doctors in the States advised me not to get tested because the chances of a false positive were high and they didn't want me to be upset. They said that was the AMA recommendation. When I moved to a foreign country, I was tested and it was positive. Further tests showed metastases in my ribs and vertebrae. After two courses of radiation, my PET scans are finally clear. If I'd gone one more year without a test, I would probably be dead now. Get the test.

    This is because health insurance in the US gets to decide health care, not medical doctors. Colon cancer runs in my husband's family, and his doctor used to screen every year. Then insurance decided they would only cover every two years. Now it's every three years.

    My father was diagnosed with prostate cancer back in August. Initially he was going to Toll gate Radiology for radiation treatments. He got sick in October and believed that it was because of the radiation treatments. His his doctor at Tollgate Radiology advised him that he had RSV. Back in September he had a scan of his lungs and they said his lungs were "clear" .Towards the end of November he was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia and it was found out that he had stage 4 lung cancer as well. He was placed on a respirator and died 3 weeks later. It is super important to get a full body scan when being diagnosed with prostate cancer.

    • @I-must-scream
      @I-must-scream Год назад

      @troyelam8978 I now know that PSA testing isn't the most reliable, but the normal range is 4ng/mL or lower. My dad's was 111ng/mL. When he was referred to urology later and was biopsied, the urologist took 13 samples from his prostate, and I think some surrounding tissues. Each sample tested positive for cancer. So, by the time the cancer was caught, it was all over his prostate and had spread to the surrounding tissue.

    Maybe a keto diet or intermittent fasting can help reduce your chances of getting this cancer. My 79-year-old father also died of prostate cancer. No matter what treatment he received, the result was in vain. Medication is not a cure for this disease. Change of diet and lifestyle may offer better result.

      Yes, they still do the finger test. That’s just a feel if the prostate is somewhat enlarged. But when you get down to the good stuff. It’s more like an uncomfortable situation when it comes to the biopsy. It’s hard not to sound vulgar, since this is happened to me, but, imagine a large tube of toothpaste with fangs at the end of it. Pulling parts of your body out. A prostate biopsy is not fun.

      It’s not your balls. It’s your prostate. They kind of go hand-in-hand with each other. The testicles produce testosterone. That’s what makes you a male. The testosterone. So when you have prostate issues with prostate cancer like I do. There are hormone therapies that they can administer to quiet down your testosterone production and PSA production. if you catch prostate cancer early, it can be treated with simple medication‘s sometimes radiation but it’s very manageable and very slow moving cancer. One thing I’ve come to understand is that as a young man living in Chicago. Or for any place in the world, the dangers were from outside sources, fights, street gangs sports injuries, driving too fast in your car, being reckless on your bicycle or skateboard. Now that I’m 56, I realize that the new dangers are from within my own body. And right now it’s trying to take me down. I’m not going without a fight. And I am not pushing any medication, any lifestyle change, any religion, any product, I’m just saying that you need to take care of your body. And if taking care of your body means getting all the information that you can about health issues, then do it.

    Fun fact: Over the counter pregnancy tests detect the hormone, HCG (I think🤔), that is also present in *men* _only_ when they have prostate cancer. If a man urinates on a pregnancy test and it's positive, he's producing that hormone and there's only one reason why - cancer!
    I tried to get my step dad to pee on a test because his doctor's kept telling him his PSA results weren't good and he needed to check for cancer. He didn't want to believe either of us so he just ignored them for over ten years! Now, he's dealing with three different kinds of cancer and the prostate one isn't even the scariest one. But, the excessive chemo treatment, he's currently doing, seems to be working. The tumors are shrinking. It's crazy how poisoning him almost to death, is the cure.
