One of my buddies swapped out the shell release spring in his, and now when he opens the barrel, the shell goes flying. It's kinda annoying sometimes, but it's really funny to watch.
You can actually manually eject the shells without modification just by turning the ballel sideways or sorta flicking the whole thing while breaking. Ive gotten pretty fast with it personally
I did the same thing to mine, and I practiced catching the shell at the peak of its arc and putting it back into the stock in one smooth motion. It feels so cool to do once you get it down!
Yes, but they are also more delicate and harder to come by. I have a Sledgefire but only 6 shells, while I have over 40 shells for my Shellstrike masterkey attachment.
You can also easily remove the shell holster-stock for a more sawed-off appearance, and you can tweak the spring so that it kicks the shell out completely for faster reloads (but it makes losing the shells easier if you're not careful). It's been my go-to shotgun since it came out - I've thrifted ones just for the shells, haha.
Yep, I have a pair of them I have gently modded, painted and de-stocked for a LARP. Are the the most 'effective' thing? Nope, but WOW are they just satisfying to shoot. Toss in a few after market shells to carry a megadart, or rival balls, and its just a fun thing.
Managed to find a Sledgefire at my local recycling shop (think thrift store outside of a landfill). I was absolutely shocked to find it was not only in perfect working order, but it also had FOUR shells with it. Absolutely stunning
This blaster is one of my proudest mod accomplishments, that I haven't seen anyone else do. I took one shell, ripped out the dart posts, filed then sanded a chamfer into the back of each chamber, turned the plunger a third of a turn, replaced the spring with some ridiculous gate spring from home Depot that just happened to fit, redid the air seal, and took out the auto ejector mechanism, and this thing SLAPS. In my old HvZ days, I used it as a secondary on the Nerf sling (which has 12 dart slots), the barrel break dart holder on the rail for scavenging, carried it on my back with my stupid little semi-couplered and spring replaced Firestrike as a primary, and would absolutely clean house with how light I was running. The only parts of the mod I haven't gotten to do yet are brass barreling the shell, and making a swap in single mega shell. As it stands, you can select how many darts you want to fire (keep three in it, use for close encounters; load one for a second sniper shot, two for fast loading but still some spread, and reload three when you get a chance), and for hordes you can act like a mortar by staying behind the group while you just lob darts into the mob as they advance. And the advent of easy and cheap to get half darts has only made it better. The Sledgefire will always have a special place in my heart, even in a world of flywheelers and off-the-shelf high performance springers.
These are still really popular for dart wars games in my area, people saw off the barrel and put on a peice of pvc, and boom you have a blaster that hits like a dump truck.
i miss mine. Had one for dorm nerf wars in college. I ended up manipulating one of the shells so i could load darts from the back and then fixing it into the barrel. So i could break it open and load three darts without having to worry about the shells all the time. This plus the hammershot and i felt unstoppable.
I loved mine so much! I actually chopped off the stock, smoothed it out and mounted the shell storage to the side of the blaster. makes it more compact and puts the shells closer to the barrel break.
The Sledgfire is one of our favourite blasters (also one of the first ones we thrifted when we got into the hobby) and its great to hear you mention about the desire to put two together. The next big project blaster I'm collecting parts for is something of a similar nature, while it will use the internals from a pair of Rival Takedowns, the prime action will be break barrel! Oh it'll also be shell fed too 😄 Great timing for this video to come out, perfect motivation, thank you
Yeah sledge for is great! I would say that the right is even better, or even using it's needs counterpart to shoot elite days is an interesting idea. Rough cut just has a ton going for it. Good fps in both barrels, 4 shots, it is front loading, and higher mod potential.
Same! I accidentally broke my first one coz I thought the shells ejected harder the harder you opened it, but I managed to find a new one at a thrift store like a week later! gave the corpse of the old one to a tinkerer friend who tried to make it bolt action, and he just ended up butchering it.
Walcom, you have inspired me to take my K26 Sledgefire to a Nerf war I’m going to today. I always tried to use AF waffle darts in it, and got bad range and spread, so I tried some Elite darts like you said, and now it’s kicking butt!
A tag back on the sledgefire makes me feel old for some reason, I'm only 18 but I remember getting one when it came out and loving it but losing the shells after like a week
I remember kid me wanting one of these so bad I would spend hours on eBay looking at them and watching different breach mods. I guess Kid me lives on considering I'm still doing that.
Great recap of a classic. Our local group is full of kids running singled Sledgies - the mechanical advantage of the break action prime means the even littlies can shoot 150fps lasers 😎
This was my first blaster ever, and I still love it. I mean, it’s a little bit broken. But it stills works, and I’m happy about that. It’s just so damn fun to use.
I still buy these guys second hand for the shells when I find a cheap one. I 3dprinted a bunch of shells, but if you fumble a reload (easy) and drop one on the pavement it's done, so I prefer original shells
I replaced the spring with one from one of those bug asalt salt shooters. It fit in perfectly and gets write a boost. Can't chronometer it, but it's getting 50-60ft on 3 half darts. Love it!
this thing seems so FUN to use. i'm only into foam guns with interesting mechanics and a fun feel to them so this would be 100% up my alley. we can only hope that they come to their senses and make things like this again. a dual one would be pretty cool, yes, maybe with a two-step trigger?
This one is cool but just got my hands on a used Rival Saturn and put a stronger spring in it. That is the best. Gonna make two 10-round speed loaders and bayonet so it's battle ready. AF Spectrum minimized down to an Uzi as a secondary. I still wish they made sledgefires though.
he's talking doom slayer again with his dubble barel sledge fire 13:42 until 14:25 even while im from 2006 i know that game and many snes games where he's talking about ,and using the soundtrack from they are also part of my childhood because; my dad had downloaded over 700 snes titles with their roms ,while i was four or 5 and they are still there on my first pc and it is still working
What about the lightning blitz it has 2 more darts no shells more mod potential and even just plugging the pump and maybe re-barreling will make this viable.
if you can get one and hunt down some shells, follow the MTB guide to remove the air restrictors, enhance the seal, and re-lubricate everything. even without a spring upgrade, its amazing. with the spring upgrade and a pile of shells, you can be doom guy at any battle that doesn't allow heavy modding.
I've done testing and discovered the dart zone long distance darts, you know the green and blue ones before waffles, and they actually go further than the average dart, not accurate though
If you use s-shot darts and press them to the bottom they fly super good. I’ve played many nerf wars and this top always get me the win with the extra range
With a little bit of sewing skillz you could make some side saddles with elastic fabric. The side of the body was smooth enough to slap some sticky Velcro on it and you could make some removable shell cards. Limey Tactical did a bunch back in the day!
the goodwill price tag is a nice touch on a sledgefire I just picked up two from goodwill today and I'm racking my brain coming up with a way to make a break action double barrel on one trigger
Pin both barrels, barrel releases, and both triggers together. Install a new grip behind the original, and run a connection from the original now pinned triggers to a new one that actuates the pinned ones. Done.
I tried cutting the dart posts out of one of my sledgefire shells and it actually seemed to make the performance worse? Not entirely sure why. Maybe it made the air currents less concentrated or something but I digress. Anyone else have this problem, and is there anything you've found that fixes it?
I found my Sledgefire at the last K-mart in my county, and possibly the last one in Florida before it closed. I believe I got it in 2018 or early 2019, I brought it to Endwar 2019
Can agree, I own one, and though it is second hand, I LOVE IT! The barrel feature (unlike ones like buzzbees) is sturdy and doesnt have a visible rope cord that primes it. nerf needs to take notes on their older blasters like this one. I mean, instead of making a t-style priming handle fortnite flare gun, they could've made a break action priming fortnite flare gun.
i wasnt alive in the early 2000s but i was in the later 2000s and my big brother gave me a bunch of old nerf blasters from then and they are 100000000000 times better then new nerf blasters
I literally just thrifted one of these beauties this past weekend and searched for a video from you about it… Needless to say, I’m excited to see this one!
Hey Walcoms7 did you know if you shave down the priming rod down on a jolt you can put a stock hammershot spring in it. My modded jolts parts I used in it” brass Breech, and a hammershot spring, “note, do keep the padded plunger head on, or re pad the head If you don’t want to crack the plunger head”
You can replace the stock spring with an upgraded one and remove the air restrictors for increased ranged, however from some recent personal experience replacing the spring for something more powerful is very difficult and potentially dangerous. The spring I got is from Out of Darts and I can feel the power in it, but installing it safely became problematic with other parts of the firing mechanism wanting to forcefully exit the blaster shell, including the tiny springs on two of the pieces. I ended up just taking a drilling tool and carefully removed the smart ar system and air restrictors just so I had something to work with.

I thought the trilogy was good, but sledge fire is better
RAID IS A CRAPPY “RPG GAME”
I installed this app through this link and I didn’t get a single thing even though it was my first time playing this game 😐
Welcome, Can you make a Tag Back for the Nerf N-Strike Maverick REV-6 please? Also I noticed in your to wall of nerf boxes you have like 3 or more
One of my buddies swapped out the shell release spring in his, and now when he opens the barrel, the shell goes flying. It's kinda annoying sometimes, but it's really funny to watch.
@@grench3298 Ok.
You can actually manually eject the shells without modification just by turning the ballel sideways or sorta flicking the whole thing while breaking. Ive gotten pretty fast with it personally
@@shelbykingnfs7216 Yeah, but just cranking the barrel down and seeing the shell go flying is rather entertaining.
Apparently a Maverick slide return spring will do that.
I did the same thing to mine, and I practiced catching the shell at the peak of its arc and putting it back into the stock in one smooth motion. It feels so cool to do once you get it down!
I found one of these blasters sealed in package at a goodwill once with all of the shells. Tempted to leave it sealed
You better.
Keep it closed
OPEN IT.
IT YEARNS FOR USE!
Use it please.
Leaving it in a package is an absolute waste.
I'll buy it! Just kidding, but I wish I had a sledgefire
These are so good holstered without the stock, the shells are also so much slimmer than the most recent ones.
Yes, but they are also more delicate and harder to come by. I have a Sledgefire but only 6 shells, while I have over 40 shells for my Shellstrike masterkey attachment.
Yes
Found one without the shells at a Goodwill and bought the shells separately from ebay. One of my favorite nerf guns
The seldgefire was literally the nerf blaster that got me into the hobby. Love that thing

We need a MegaXL sawed off. It’d just be too much fun.
@@andrewbingham5460 now you're using you're noggin, I think I could make that

Another blaster to add to the shopping list. Shells will be easy to come by; saw plenty of offers on eBay for 3D printed ones.
13:55 I love the slow doom guy fade in, glad I'm not the only one who thought DB and Doom guy instantly.
My favorite part of the entire vid: "Circa 2013, you know, back when nerf was actually good."
I'm so happy you made this. The sledgefire was literally the first nerf gun I bought after starting to watch your videos.
Yeah sledge for is great! I would say that the right is even better, or even using it's needs counterpart to shoot elite days is an interesting idea. Rough cut just has a ton going for it. Good fps in both barrels, 4 shots, it is front loading, and higher mod potential.

A *shell* of its former self
walcom thank you for staying true to your self you are an insperation
I love how Doom guy appeared on the screen when he was ranting about making the sledgefire a double-barrel
The only type of blaster where elite darts are actually good

I still wish they made sledgefires though.
I turned one of these into a breech load single shot with a brass barrel and silicone seal. It was a great shooter.
Sledgefire is one of my all-time favorite blasters.
Sledgefire is probably my most fun Nerf gun ever :)
Finally, a shell blaster that DOESN'T lose its shells.
There's a 3d printable sledgefire and it's called the super sledge which will release soon by the username name of 'SillyButts'
I love this blaster so much I gave it to my cat so everyone I know will keep their hands the hell off it. No one touches it.
I still own one, it's a fine little thing that I use sometimes to prank my brothers. I kinda miss the days when Nerf made fun blasters
If I ever get another nerf blaster, there are two options I'd go for. The Perses, and this.
You know you’re old when you remember watching a review of the gun in tag back as a kid.
The f-zero sound track is awesome!! You always pick the best music

Lilly: I appreciate you used used the F Zero GX soundtrack, most specifically the track named shotgun kiss. 👌
Sillybutts Supersledge is something I need in my life lol
I got one of these at a yardsale a few days ago. Didn't have the shells though. I ordered some online, they got here yesterday. It. Is. Awsome.
ZURU X-SHOT DART are very fun to use in that one 👍🏼

While I am inclined to agree with the stated premise of the title, I think I prefer the Shellstrike still.
I really would like to see you try the double barrel sledgefire again. It may be tedious to do but I feel the payoff would be amazingly awesome
I've been waiting to get a hold of the Sledgefire for a while until my cousin was finally getting rid of his along with a Hyperfire to me!
I got one off facebook marketplace for $6 with a slingfire $4 perfect working condition. I also like the Shellstrike
I bought that at target my favorite blaster!!
Finally got my hands on one for $7 with two shells missing that this a steal
I remember the K26 episode of this: “it can take a K26, but…”

the goodwill price tag is a nice touch on a sledgefire

I read that the post can actually make a better seal by pushing out from the middle of the hollow dart body? Maybe that?
@@abelq8008 Huh.
So what you're saying is that the dart post makes the seal better by channeling the air to the interior of the dart?
idk why but the name feels so… syrupy and I love it

i wanna see 3d printed twin barrels that replace the barrel, also a 3d printed part that fits the plunger tube so the barrels fit the core blaster
I never got that much range with my sledgefire so I'm waiting to get my hands on a trilogy if not a shellstrike
