I love the fact that while he's a complete scam, he is simultaneously the only character with the bargain skill, *and* manages to bullshit so hard he teaches someone legendary sword technique. One he *physically* can't even know because he lacks the specific line of holy blood to use it Man has no idea what he's doing and yet manages to have two different uses that are completely exclusive to him. What a fucking legend
Honestly, the most legendary thing about him is actually dodging astra with his low stats. Even tho the attack wasn't meant to hit him, one would expect it to by accident, lol.
Shanon reminds me of Fantastic from Fallout New Vegas. Dude was asked if he had degree in theoretical physics. He answered that he has theoretical degree in physics, and got lead engineer position on solar energy station despite not having knowledge how anything there works.
There's also that dude in Dead Mount Death Play that managed to became the most influential character in the story despite having barely any idea what's actually going on. Just by guessing correctly most of the time.
Kaga was a master of story-gameplay interaction. He never really left balance get into the way in telling a good story, and the units are very unbalanced BECAUSE IT MAKE SENSE INTO THE STORY. And honestly ? It make all of it way more memorable than if everyone was roughly as good as each other. Many games, such as FE awakening, suffered by making mostly everyone "good enough" and in the end no one really get to shine, either by being super good or super crappy.
I haven't even played FE5 but Shannam is still one of, if not my absolute most wanted character to get into Heroes. I don't know what would be funnier, him being a Merlinus level shitpost unit with stats lower than the average launch unit, or him being a meta-breaking, F!Edelgard slaying, whale-bankrupting BEAST that centers the entire game around himself. I just want him in, I don't care how, they added Brigand Boss, shitposting sells!
The bad imitation feel of Shannam even extends to his growths. His strength growth is massive 50%, significantly more than the man he’s larping as, but his skill? A growth that get’s a colossal 60% bonus, from major Od blood? *5%.* Despite this absurdity, he’s probably still better than Miranda, solely because of Bargain.
He is, unironically, my favorite guy from Thracia and I'm so happy he got his own thing because, yep, he makes me crack up. Plus he teaches Astra from the power of bullshit! Perne is a close second, it's always nice to have bastards on your army!
Shannam starts as a Swordmaster because if he actually started as a bard he would be good. At least I think he becomes a Bard in his ending; it's been a while
If he was in 3 Houses, he would have a crazy high Charm stat, though. Damn. That would have been amazing. A unit that is crazy good at exploiting the Gambit system and exactly nothing else.
The issue with that is that people would just meme him to the top in that game. There is no such thing as unworkably inefficiant in TH. One could put Amelia in it and people would still somehow make her work on sub-maddening difficulties.
@@lpfan4491If a character had 0 in every stat and growth but had the access to the best skills/combat arts in the game they probably still wouldn't be the worst unit due to how classes automatically bring your base stats to a certain level. A base level Wyvern Lord for example has 24 speed.
Just imagining Shannam gets into FEH, and his sword just says *pathetic* and does less than a Dagger, *Or* if his Atk/Spd/Def/Res is lower than the opponent, plus 5 to all stats, and they stack per sucky Stat, making it possible for him to be absolutely metabreaking, but it also prevents him from using attack skills, for obvious reasons.
Now that you mention it, I did a FEH theorycraft of him years ago... I think I gave him Gen 1 BST and a Prf B skill that has built-in Duel which also doubles rewards from competitive game modes like Arena if he survived the entire time.
Most devs think "what would be balanced" thats the worst mentality to have, specially for a single player game. The best mentality is "what would be interesting".

The funny part is that his brother Franz has better base attack in the japanese version...at a lower level. Honestly, this is the one time I sorta call bs on the lore, because that's incredibly sad, even with him barely bothering as a fighter. Dude's combat potential basically looks like he's a Shanam-like scam on a horse(With his better raw performance coming from joining in the early game of a less rough game), yet he appearently is so far ahead of everyone that it needs special mention.
@@lpfan4491 Yeah, maybe. Weird thing is I love Forde, I'd love to use him, but he's just... so mediocre. Not even as funny as, like, Amelia, just bad enough to make me sad
