    Great video topic. Glad to see you… feels like it’s been a minute.

    The negativity one really hit home with me. There is a ROOT to the negativity and you mentioned “fear” and that hit a nail on the head for me. I’ve noticed if I dig into the negative with my team, it boils down to fear of failure. When hard things come into the picture, it’s a fear of failure which manifests in negativity talk… almost as a safe guard to the hard thing. I have learned to allow my team to express the feelings, but then encourage the unpacking of those feelings…which has led to problem solving and an anchor in “you are not alone” in this! As a team, we can accomplish all the hard things that come our way.

      I love that you are so thoughtful. And you dig deeper than surface to figure out how to properly move forward.

    I have a three person team, I make four. I been on this job for six years now and one guy has been here for over 25 years. I really think he is doing a lot undermining and gossip. He has this young female to start acting just like him. I have been called to my supervisor two time in two weeks. Watching this has showed me how to deal with problem I'm having.

    This video just reassure me that I’m not crazy! It’s several issues with this place that I just started working for - how to bring up to the CFO that the “golden” employee is really not it. Due to laziness and just putting things for later!

    This is a great video, but what happens when it is the management that is toxic?

    I KNOW I have toxic team behavior, this video confirms what I have been saying to my manager about the team I was supposed to be leading but she constantly undermine me. I spoke to her with her manager several times and she still continues to do it. I told her that she taking away my autonomy on the team I am supposed to lead. She claims she understands and goes right back to the same routine. I started looking else outside of my organization.

    I'm pretty sure I'm in a toxic work environment. A lot of times people talk negatively about other co-workers. I do feel if they talk about others, then they will talk about me. Mirror reflection of that individual personality. Unfortunately a lot of people lean on that gossiper and form a bigger group. It's such a school playground relationship behaviour.

    I am a first year manager in a school cafeteria. Since day one I have been told why we can’t do something or my ideas won’t work. It’s exhausting trying to build up a stronger team, but I am determined.

      Bad management, after 3 to 6 months it will be blamed on you being afraid to apply for another, better-suiting job.

    The lazy thinking I know I have because of my actions because I tend to have new staff at one point so I stayed in training mode for too long.
    It's something I started working on 5 years ago but still have lots to grow as I am also learning to delegate better and build more trust in the outcome of assigned tasks.

    How do you correct negativity in a team?

  • @taramayer1812

    Creating my own team for a new building (my first team EVER!😬) and my question is a bit off topic. You sometimes talk about "a disruptor" being essential to a team's progression. Are there any other personalities or roles that are important for achievement and progression?

    • @makeda.andrews
      @makeda.andrews  2 года назад

      Congratulations Tara!!! So awesome! Building a team is SO MUCH fun. You get to set up how the environment will look and feel and line it up with the results you're trying to achieve. So in terms of your question, I will say there are many variables that go into making these decisions and every team and defined set of outcomes for the team is different so I can’t really answer within the limited space of a comment. But check out my New Manager Accelerator program where we cover this topic (and so many more!) in detail during our live sessions :)

    Sounds great, I’m starting a new position as a manager and I was advised by my manager gossip is a huge issue on the team. I’m waiting for your program to reopen. Great video.

      Oy! Gossip is one of the WORST things! It takes time to root out but if you give it the time it needs it will be soo worth it! Diamond, I’m so sorry we’re unable to support you at the moment. Did you get yourself on the waitlist? We should have a spot open in about two weeks( one of the students is graduating) in one of the cohorts. And we’ll be sending out an email to those on the waitlist to see if the time of the cohort spot works for them. So you’ll want tl make sure you’re on the list.
