- The yoga nidras in this 13-recording series are based on the Amrit style of yoga nidra and are designed to cultivate a state of imperturbable peace and deep tranquility of mind. We begin with physical relaxation practices. We then progress to breath control techniques to balance the body and gently focus the mind before observing each movement of breath, just as it is. We continue with body scans and end with visualizations and affirmations before meditating in silence for a few moments, absorbing the benefits of our practice.
Yoga Nidra translates into English as “yogic sleep,” yet this does not tell us all that much. Yoga Nidra refers to both a state of consciousness - one that is different from the waking, dreaming, and deep sleep states - as well as different styles of guided meditations that allows us to begin to consciously gain access to this state.
These meditations themselves are a specific sequence of relaxation, meditation, and mindfulness techniques that help the body, mind, and emotions to slowly and gently become more still and silent. Participants then systematically induce profound levels of rest and relaxation within themselves that may have not even been accessible with natural physiological sleep, perhaps due to stress or chronic health conditions. As such, Yoga Nidra itself is considered a form of NSDR, non-sleep deep rest, a term coined by neuroscientist Dr. Andrew Huberman.
I will be including yoga nidras from the different styles I have learned. This particular yoga nidra is based on the Amrit-style of yoga nidra, and its goal is to help listeners to still the fluctuations and modifications of the mind. As we intentionally and gently follow along with the relaxation techniques, we can allow any disturbances, internal or external, to draw our attention more deeply within.
This meditation follows the usual sequence of the Integrative Amrit (I AM) Method of Yoga Nidra, developed by Gurudev Amrit Desai of The Amrit Institute, which focuses on the energy body, and as such, it is possible to go into deep states of meditation in a relatively short amount of time compared to other types of meditation.
Simply follow the guidance as best as you can, and your body and mind will do the rest. The yoga nidra itself is roughly 36 minutes in length, not counting the portions with background sound and music. Preliminary instructions will be given at the start.

I can hardly believe I managed to follow thr whole session. I tried a couple of times before and gave up, It was really relaxing and somehow I managed to concentrate till the end, which for an ADHD'er is quite an accomplishment
Congratulations, Barbara!!!! 🥳🎉 This is such wonderful news! Thank you so much for sharing and practicing with me today. It is indeed an achievement.
Please know that you're in good company. My older sister (the one who got me to start practicing meditations daily after dad died and part of the whole reason this channel exists) and my younger brother both have ADHD. They both find yoga nidras fairly challenging, especially those where you need to be still for so long, but they have both been able to go much deeper into their relaxation with repeated practice. My brother practices every now and then, but when starts to burn out from work he comes back to it more regularly.
It's an honor and a pleasure to have you here! 😄
