*C#3-A3 Céline wins* because it gave more support to the notes *A4-D5 - Céline wins*, because his grades are brighter in this region, but So Hyang supported all the notes and was excellent as well. E5 = Draw *F5-C#6 = So Hyang wins*, because in this region his voice has more brilliance, clarity and support. *High notes in head voice =* Draw, because both supported the notes clearly. My overall opinion : *So Hyang* is the best singer in the world when it comes to belts (Chest or mix voice) this is undisputed, she offers supports all the notes of her medium and sharp record. *Céline* has the advantage of having more vocal agility being able to perform riffs, runs and more complex melismas, to master techniques to change the "coloration" of the voice like drives and growls for example; also offers excellent vocal support on a belt up to F # 5 and dominates his mixed voice very well up to C # 6.
So Hyang's ability to sustain the high belts are incredible but it's not as audibly pleasing on the ear as Celine. Though I prefer Celine's tone and style in general, I will not deny So Hyang's talent. Would love to work with. Both one day.
@Adam Buentello her tone is not everyones preference but her belting and headvoice is technically better. Keep on criticising in her tone being ugly what ever, but Sohyang will always be technically superior in belting and headvoice.
I believe that liking one's tone or not is just subjective😅.. It's just a matter of preferences.. In fact I love listening to Sohyang, even when she sings extremely high notes, as well as Celine.. She's legendary.. But again, it's just a matter of preferences

Sohyang uses much better technique in belting (especially in the upper register starting at Eb5) and her Headvoice is outstanding. But Celine Dion has better resonance in the midbelts. For low registers, I would say its a tie between them, considering Sohyangs high tessitura and her great consistency in supporting until G3 is enough to pass the test. Furthermore, Sohyang arranges her renditions by herself so thats an extra point for her, she has a great taste for music and is very consistent. For me, being as objective as I can, it is: Low notes: Celine Belts until D5: Celine Eb5, E5: ShoHyang F5: Celine F#5, G#5: Tie G5, A5, Bb5, B5: ShoHyang C6: Celine C#6: ShoHyang HeadVoice: G5, G#5: Celine A5: Tie Bb5, B5: ShoHyang C6: Tie C#6, D6: ShoHyang Eb6: Celine E6: Tie And of Course my fav is Celine!!!! (I must admit though that although I don't like her tone, ShoHyang has great quality in her belts, being able to support until C6/C#6!!! I don't think anyone has done that...)
SoHyang's voice is brighter and hurts my ears when she's doing the high belted notes but she can do the highs with no problem.. we can't deny that but Céline's voice is a bit warmer and have a bit of resonance and controlled volume for doing the high notes that's why it's pleasing to the ears when listening.
It's sad as a huge fan of both of them to see people being so toxic and acting like Sohyang is somehow obviously inferior. They both have strengths and weaknesses but I don't see anything in them that completely overshadows the other. Look at things a bit more objectively guys

You can not tell me even after watching one of those covers, she's delivering EMOTIONS! Lots of emotions that it connects to the audience, which results of some of the audience to cry. As for fame, she has refused many deals from numerous music labels, both Korean and American! She only did this because as a CCM singer, she wanted to sing only for God in churches and occasionally in concerts, showing her deep faith towards the Lord. This is why she's not known entirely throughout the world, but only was known in South Korea in her early years of singing. I don't understand how "the biggest stages", have anything to do with Sohyang. It's just a couple of large stages that probably more famous singers sang on smth.

My preference is always Sohyang. People constantly give her shit for her tone but I've always enjoyed her voice. She also doesn't quite sound the exact same in comparison to the 2010-2017 era. She has a warmer tone and a bit rounder mix, in my opinion, for the last 2 years which is more my taste. I first fell in love with her voice then I fell in love with her whole being as someone who has never given up and sings for the only reason to comfort others. I've truly never seen someone so precious and easly give up fame and money for the love of god..it's quite admirable and I'll always love her for that.
So Hyang's natural voice leans quite light and quite high, a higher tessitura than most women. Let alone women her age. Naturally her voice would start blossoming higher up the scale. As for Celine, her voice natural tessitura is much lower. She starts blossoming quite a bit lower in the range. In my opinion So Hyang's higher belts and headvoice sound better, and Celine's lower to mids are better.
Adam Buentello Celine almost always strains her belts above Eb5. Sohyang’s belts aren’t thin. She actually has astonishingly full and round belts, so much so that she supports and resonated up to C#6. Celine gets throaty and pinched as soon as E5. She’s not fuller or more resonant, she’s literally just screaming. Both are very talented ladies but you clearly don’t know much about vocal technique.
Gonzalo Ponte Anyone who thinks Sohyang is screaming clearly knows nothing about singing. Can you not hear how pinched and throaty most of Celine’s higher belts are? They AREN’T good. They’re strained, shrill, and hoarse. Sohyang is the one hitting them with perfect technique. Don’t get me wrong, Celine is a fantastic vocalist with consistent support of E3-Eb5-C6. That’s really good! And she has considerably better low notes than Sohyang. But Sohyang consistently supports G#3-C#6-E6 and that’s just...better...considerably better overall. She out sings Celine in belting by nearly a whole octave and also benefits from a far better head voice. As for agility, they’re pretty comparable in that they’re both good but not great, Sohyang is more resonant, has better intonation, has better support, has better transitions, has better dynamics, has better breath control, has better mix control, has better tonal manipulation abilities and versatility, and has better stamina in a live setting. Celine really only outcompetes Sohyang in low notes and belting between A4 and D5. Perhaps mid belts too although both Sohyang and Celine support but lack resonance in this region. Feel free to come up with a valid argument against Sohyang and why she’s worse. But she’s factually NOT screaming. You don’t have to like her tone, but don’t lie about her voice to elevate your favorite. That’s very disrespectful to Sohyang and the decades of work she’s put into her voice.
Lows and Up to D5 it's Celine's territory. Then sohyang comes With her destructive mix and wins all the upper belting zone. I think Celine has the most creative Voice by far. And is a more complete vocalist.

Eb5 and below is all Celine, like, there’s no comparison there. E5 is a tie. F5 and above is all Sohyang, no doubt. Head voice is very cutthroat, like damn. Sohyang gets the edge very slightly at around C6 and up. But like, honestly? These two are absolutely bonkers. They are amazing vocalists, each with their own strengths and weaknesses the other may or may not have. Mixed : From C#3 to F#5 I prefer Céline. From G5 to A5 I like both equally. Bb5 belongs to SoHyang. B5-C6 I appreciate both equally. C#6 for So Hyang. Head Voice/Falsetto : G5 both G#5 : Céline A5 : Céline (this one is maybe one of my favorite. The resonance she's got is blowing me away) Bb5 : Céline B5 : Both C6 : Both, in their own way C#6 : So Hyang D6 : So Hyang Eb6/E6 : So Hyang Even if I consider So Hyang a little bit better technique wise than Céline... Céline's tone is just almost everything to me.

You clearly don't even know what Sohyang went through , do you? She denied fames because she is a faithful Christian singer and wants to only sing for God. She even didn't want to be famous in the first place. Until she joined singing programmes to share her voice. Even famous music companies both Korean and American, offered a deal and Sohyang refused this, as she is faithful to God, thus singing only in churches or local concerts. So stop comparing Celine's fame to Sohyang because it's pointless.
Well looking at this from a technical point the lows would go to Celine altho Sohyang isn't particularly bad in this area especially for a sky high soprano voice like hers. I would say up to C#5 is where they tie and Celine maybe has an upper hand mainly because Sohyang's high tessitura makes her midbelts sound a little underwhelming in that area. D5 to C#6 to me personally easily goes to Sohyang as far as support, and balance goes. I'm going to bring up consistency and stamina even tho it's probably unfair since there are only few vocalist who have Sohyang's consistency and stamina so that's why she always wins those easily for me all tho during F#5 and G5 Celine was exceptional. And last but not least head voice and Celine put a way better fight then what I gave her credit for initially. G5 to Bb5 was easily a tie for me and Celine gets a hard plus from me for her amazing classical tone. B5 to E6 is were Sohyang excelled both technically and as far as ease and consistency go as well. Now all of that is solely based off of their technical prowess, as far as my personal opinion on who the better vocalist is? I personally think Celine takes that title quite easily. Because a vocalist needs to have a mastery over their ability to command a song and that's usually done through a genius ability in implementing adlibs through relying on the uncanny musicianship an artist is supposed to acquire. Celine clearly refined that area majorly. I was never impressed with Sohyang as an improviser her abilities in adlibing are quite predictable to say the least whenever they're not flat out unsatisfying to hear. Of course she rarely ever adlibs for that specific reason and the arrangements done for her are beyond perfect and that can't be denied.

Atrophic chest voice.From Eb5 and up,small,constricted singing. No “support” there. Nothing special about her dynamics,sense of ornamentation,musical phrasing,improvisational skills etc.
I agree with you about her sense of improvising, ad-libing, and her usage of dynamics as well. They're usually really boring to say the least. I would also add that her approach is usually always one dimensional as well. But her chest/mixed register is undeniably the greatest in all of music especially with notes above G5. There are very few singers that come close to her and I honestly can't think of anyone who surpasses her in that area the closest person I can think of is Aretha. And Celine was and still is never consistent in all of the 5th octave. She's genius in the area's Sohyang fails in, but technically Celine doesn't fall far above the likes Christina and such who strain and raise their larynx in the 5th octave.
Naranjo and amorossi I think comes close to sohyang for their support is also amazing, but they have different genres so i dont know how they will be compared.

It's difficult to reach high notes but it would be more complex if you add vocal runs like what Celine did with her voice to touch the notes like she was drink a glass of water,.. it's pretty hard to control your voice still be connected with the notes that you hit without making mistakes that you hit them not out of the right line because it can kill you to bring the notes up and down like what Celine did. She is uncomparable,. When you hold the notes reached the highest you can do, yes of course it's so coll but when you can bring the notes up and down like nothing it's more then a killer,.. can sohyang did that??? Lol

Guys, imo this battle isn't fair. They're different singers, have different placement, different tones. So Hyang is almost a opera singer and Céline is a pop singer. Céline sing some of her notes through her nose, SoHyang doesn't. Remember, for a battle you have to put people who share similarities in tone, technique, etc. So stop with those "Mariah vs. Aretha", "Whitney vs. Ariana" because it just doesn't make sense.

Celine Dion is world famous while Sohyang is underrated. It is natural for people to be partial to the legend. Many viewers would have heard of many Celine's songs in full but few have heard of even a single SoHyang's songs in full. So comparison tends to be difficult. I hate note for note comparison. In this video, Sohyang definitely wins overall. That is just my opinion. Why is Celine video missing at the tail end of this video?

*So Hyang* is the best singer in the world when it comes to belts (Chest or mix voice) this is undisputed, she offers supports all the notes of her medium and sharp record.
*Céline* has the advantage of having more vocal agility being able to perform riffs, runs and more complex melismas, to master techniques to change the "coloration" of the voice like drives and growls for example; also offers excellent vocal support on a belt up to F # 5 and dominates his mixed voice very well up to C # 6.

I believe that liking one's tone or not is just subjective😅.. It's just a matter of preferences.. In fact I love listening to Sohyang, even when she sings extremely high notes, as well as Celine.. She's legendary.. But again, it's just a matter of preferences

Sohyang uses much better technique in belting (especially in the upper register starting at Eb5) and her Headvoice is outstanding. But Celine Dion has better resonance in the midbelts. For low registers, I would say its a tie between them, considering Sohyangs high tessitura and her great consistency in supporting until G3 is enough to pass the test. Furthermore, Sohyang arranges her renditions by herself so thats an extra point for her, she has a great taste for music and is very consistent.

SoHyang's voice is brighter and hurts my ears when she's doing the high belted notes but she can do the highs with no problem.. we can't deny that but Céline's voice is a bit warmer and have a bit of resonance and controlled volume for doing the high notes that's why it's pleasing to the ears when listening.

You can not tell me even after watching one of those covers, she's delivering EMOTIONS! Lots of emotions that it connects to the audience, which results of some of the audience to cry. As for fame, she has refused many deals from numerous music labels, both Korean and American! She only did this because as a CCM singer, she wanted to sing only for God in churches and occasionally in concerts, showing her deep faith towards the Lord. This is why she's not known entirely throughout the world, but only was known in South Korea in her early years of singing. I don't understand how "the biggest stages", have anything to do with Sohyang. It's just a couple of large stages that probably more famous singers sang on smth.

My preference is always Sohyang. People constantly give her shit for her tone but I've always enjoyed her voice. She also doesn't quite sound the exact same in comparison to the 2010-2017 era. She has a warmer tone and a bit rounder mix, in my opinion, for the last 2 years which is more my taste. I first fell in love with her voice then I fell in love with her whole being as someone who has never given up and sings for the only reason to comfort others. I've truly never seen someone so precious and easly give up fame and money for the love of god..it's quite admirable and I'll always love her for that.

So Hyang's natural voice leans quite light and quite high, a higher tessitura than most women. Let alone women her age. Naturally her voice would start blossoming higher up the scale. As for Celine, her voice natural tessitura is much lower. She starts blossoming quite a bit lower in the range. In my opinion So Hyang's higher belts and headvoice sound better, and Celine's lower to mids are better.

She actually has astonishingly full and round belts, so much so that she supports and resonated up to C#6. Celine gets throaty and pinched as soon as E5. Gonzalo Ponte Anyone who thinks Sohyang is screaming clearly knows nothing about singing. Can you not hear how pinched and throaty most of Celine’s higher belts are? They AREN’T good. They’re strained, shrill, and hoarse. Sohyang is the one hitting them with perfect technique. Don’t get me wrong, Celine is a fantastic vocalist with consistent support of E3-Eb5-C6. That’s really good! And she has considerably better low notes than Sohyang. But Sohyang consistently supports G#3-C#6-E6 and that’s just...better...considerably better overall. She out sings Celine in belting by nearly a whole octave and also benefits from a far better head voice. As for agility, they’re pretty comparable in that they’re both good but not great, Sohyang is more resonant, has better intonation, has better support, has better transitions, has better dynamics, has better breath control, has better mix control, has better tonal manipulation abilities and versatility, and has better stamina in a live setting. Celine really only outcompetes Sohyang in low notes and belting between A4 and D5. Perhaps mid belts too although both Sohyang and Celine support but lack resonance in this region. Feel free to come up with a valid argument against Sohyang and why she’s worse. But she’s factually NOT screaming. You don’t have to like her tone, but don’t lie about her voice to elevate your favorite. That’s very disrespectful to Sohyang and the decades of work she’s put into her voice.

You clearly don't even know what Sohyang went through , do you? She denied fames because she is a faithful Christian singer and wants to only sing for God. She even didn't want to be famous in the first place. Until she joined singing programmes to share her voice. Even famous music companies both Korean and American, offered a deal and Sohyang refused this, as she is faithful to God, thus singing only in churches or local concerts. Well looking at this from a technical point the lows would go to Celine altho Sohyang isn't particularly bad in this area especially for a sky high soprano voice like hers. I would say up to C#5 is where they tie and Celine maybe has an upper hand mainly because Sohyang's high tessitura makes her midbelts sound a little underwhelming in that area. D5 to C#6 to me personally easily goes to Sohyang as far as support, and balance goes. I'm going to bring up consistency and stamina even tho it's probably unfair since there are only few vocalist who have Sohyang's consistency and stamina so that's why she always wins those easily for me all tho during F#5 and G5 Celine was exceptional. And last but not least head voice and Celine put a way better fight then what I gave her credit for initially. G5 to Bb5 was easily a tie for me and Celine gets a hard plus from me for her amazing classical tone. B5 to E6 is were Sohyang excelled both technically and as far as ease and consistency go as well. Now all of that is solely based off of their technical prowess, as far as my personal opinion on who the better vocalist is? I personally think Celine takes that title quite easily. Because a vocalist needs to have a mastery over their ability to command a song and that's usually done through a genius ability in implementing adlibs through relying on the uncanny musicianship an artist is supposed to acquire. Celine clearly refined that area majorly. I was never impressed with Sohyang as an improviser her abilities in adlibing are quite predictable to say the least whenever they're not flat out unsatisfying to hear. Kim’s lower register is horrible,not because of her “sky high soprano voice”,but because of the underdeveloped chest voice. Her middle register is so coreless,too. Atrophic chest voice.From Eb5 and up,small,constricted singing. No “support” there. Nothing special about her dynamics,sense of ornamentation,musical phrasing,improvisational skills etc.
I agree with you about her sense of improvising, ad-libing, and her usage of dynamics as well. They're usually really boring to say the least. I would also add that her approach is usually always one dimensional as well. But her chest/mixed register is undeniably the greatest in all of music especially with notes above G5. There are very few singers that come close to her and I honestly can't think of anyone who surpasses her in that area the closest person I can think of is Aretha. And Celine was and still is never consistent in all of the 5th octave. She's genius in the area's Sohyang fails in, but technically Celine doesn't fall far above the likes Christina and such who strain and raise their larynx in the 5th octave.
Naranjo and amorossi I think comes close to sohyang for their support is also amazing, but they have different genres so i dont know how they will be compared.

It's difficult to reach high notes but it would be more complex if you add vocal runs like what Celine did with her voice to touch the notes like she was drink a glass of water,.. it's pretty hard to control your voice still be connected with the notes that you hit without making mistakes that you hit them not out of the right line because it can kill you to bring the notes up and down like what Celine did. She is uncomparable,. When you hold the notes reached the highest you can do, yes of course it's so coll but when you can bring the notes up and down like nothing it's more then a killer,.. can sohyang did that??? Lol

Guys, imo this battle isn't fair. They're different singers, have different placement, different tones. So Hyang is almost a opera singer and Céline is a pop singer. Céline sing some of her notes through her nose, SoHyang doesn't.
Remember, for a battle you have to put people who share similarities in tone, technique, etc. So stop with those "Mariah vs. Aretha", "Whitney vs. Ariana" because it just doesn't make sense.

Celine Dion is world famous while Sohyang is underrated. It is natural for people to be partial to the legend.
Many viewers would have heard of many Celine's songs in full but few have heard of even a single SoHyang's songs in full. So comparison tends to be difficult.
I hate note for note comparison. In this video, Sohyang definitely wins overall. That is just my opinion.
