Yeah I thought about it but got a great deal on this one and it just made sense. Bar and plate resists heat better initially but once it’s hot, it sheds it slower which is why it’s better for drags where you race once and then have time to cool off. Tube and fin soaks and sheds fast, so yeah it can gain heat quick in a non moving car but generally in a street car or something that’s not just built for a strip it’s fine. A lot of endurance racers go tube and fin for this reason since they’re always moving, and are generally lighter weight.
Did this intercooler add any "LAG"? I autocross often in my ttrs and want to upgrade to this unit. For me lag is a big killer as i need that quick corner to corner speed.
I'd say not enough to really affect throttle response much on the road. Though, when you're in extremes like autocross you may notice a _little_ lag that could affect how the car feels. I'd say the cooling benefits outweigh the potential lag though. Can likely adjust technique for any behavioral changes.
I did try to, but the files have gotten corrupted (more in the video). I'm going to continue to try and recover the pre-install file, because I could always take another post-install on a day with similar conditions. Finger's crossed!
Intercoolers don’t really add any power, but I’ve definitely noticed much less heat soak with power levels staying more constant on hot days. I don’t think it’s pulling timing as much when it’s hot. The stocker is just too small
Price is subjective, but I disagree on it being bad. It's not a bad intercooler for a street car or road course work where air is always moving over it. If you're drag racing you shouldn't get a tube and fin to begin with. That's not its designed use case. Also, this core is only rated to 600hp so it's not even comparable to a 1000hp garrett core.
@@danny_vrsociety my point is that you can pay the same amount to buy a garrett core. I did to mine a full complete stage 2 with sophisticated parts to make it bit faster that the usual. The evo3x had too high temps..and a garrett core intercooler sold my problem in the same price maybe cheaper than evo3x. Hybrids needs garrett core more than stock turbo ;)
Woah, that thing is _yuge!_
I don’t know why I’m saying this but you look like Emilio with the Hondaru.
Yikes I'd def go bar and plate, tube and fin heat soaks to quick and bar and plate would fit better without having to give up your crash bar

Where you buy magnetics for a plate?
Plate was mounted on a cravenspeed platypus mount - www.cravenspeed.com/front-license-plate-mount-for-2015-2020-audi-tt/
Did you take any logs from before and after? I'd love to see some actual data.

@@danny_vrsociety oh, I thought what was corrupted was video footage. Its nice to see a little more information on the TTRS regardless.
I wish 😓 if I do manage to recover it I will definitely post it up!
How does it feel vs stock unit? Any increase in power or do you just not notice any power drop off

Maybe the worst intercooler ever made, overpriced... i sold it for an 1000hp garrett core
