Sister of Pranji was settled in Ambala and she was running one school there. My mother was Head mistress in that school. I am talking about 1967-69. She used to visit in that school in rikshaw that I remember I was 4-5 years of age at that time. Me and my younger sister use to tease that old lady after seeing her coming on rickshaw to visit school by saying ' MATAJI NAMASTE CHOLE KHAYO SASTE'...what a memory i could relate after watching Zeeshan Sahab this video. Thanks for making our memories relive.

Though I'm from Jalandhar , from a village few kms from " sham chourasi" . But my grandfather used to work in Lahore prepartition. So heard lot about Lahore from him and his favorite actor was Pran and singer K L Saigal. God bless you bro'

@Gulrez Rana yes brother you're correct 'Sham Chaurasi"' is where Ustad Salamat Ali , Najakat Ali etc belongs to. My village is 4 -5 miles from this village , as it's border between Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur .
All of those singers migrated to Pakistan from Jalandhar and sham chourasi only .

Our family knows this family to a good degree. Ignore the acting talent of Pran which was extraordinary. What few know is that Pran was a world class intellectual. His children also excelled in studies. Not the usual family of actors.

Pran was a great villan in Indian cenema history. One of a few good looking and dashing personalities who acted as Villain.
Pran Sahab has one distinction to himself, like none other: He probably is the only actor to have refused a Filmfare Award! Yes, it is something that may be an exclusive prerogative of a person of substance like the late, legendary Pran Sahab. He did just that after the release of the famous Meena starrer Kumari, Pakeeza. The Filmfare chose to ignore the late Ghulam Mohammad over someone else, as its recipient of the Filmfare award. Pran Sahab felt otherwise and he took affront to that, resulting in his refusal to accept that year's Filmfare award for the movie Be-Imaan, which was granted to him.

Working in the UK, I and my other Indian fellow would sometimes become Shashi Thrur's students, telling the historical bluders of British people at their mouth. We'd have chats with our British origin line manager and other colleagues on a lighter note and we'd talk about British colonialism over Subcontinent for almost 90y and what they've left behind is nothing but a heart-wrenching painful history, that continues till date. Adding insult to our injuries, they left the conflict of Kashmir between Ind and Pak, so we'd fight forever and ever out of no reason, just for a piece of disputed territory. Though they'd always apologise and accept the fact, what their ancestors have really done in various parts of the world, but that doesn't really heal our wounds. If only, these painful history wouldn't have happened and there'd be nothing but love amongst the people of both sides 😢.

My Father A. K. Moosa an Artist was also born in Lahore in1920 and was a friend of Pran, and Nasir Khan Dilip Kumar’s brother they used to play billiards in a place right there in Lakshmi Chowk. My father lived all his life in Lahore

Pran sahab didn't know the hindi script he was fluent in urdu writing he used to get his script either in Roman Hindi or in Urdu , he was one of the finest actor which Indian cinema ever produced ❤️

Just a small correction The temple shown @2:07 isn’t a picture from Indore .It is the red spire of the Digambar Jain Laal Mandir right opposite the Red Fort in Delhi.The temple famously sits next to a very old and unique hospital for injured birds 🦅and interestingly the Prime Minister of India faces this temple while addressing the nation every 15th of August from red fort.This Road stretches between the Digambar temple and Fateh Puri masjid and is flanked by the Central Baptist Church on the right and Gurudwara Sees Ganj(where the 9th Sikh Guru ,Guru Tegh Bahadur lost his Sees/Sheesh/head),one of the most important Sikh temples on the left😇😊

Hello from India. My name is Sohail Rekhy. My Late father is the Late Mr. Pran Sikand's cousin. His name was Shashi Rekhy and acted under the name of Kamaljeet in a few movies including Mehboob Khan's Son of India and with his future wife and my mother, Waheeda Rehman in Shagun. My grandfather, Late Ratanlal Rekhy lived in Model Town Lahore before Partition. Though it was not their ancestral home, it was the last home they lived in Lahore. My father"s generation used to miss the food, culture and Punjabi language till the end. Most of his generation has passed and I had always wanted to see their homes with one of them. My father would have really loved your show. Best of luck.

you can see lal khoo the red building this is a very historical place You may call it Chandu ki Haveli, Guru Arjun Dev Tatti Tawi place, Darbar Mai Beri wali or Gurdwara Lal Khoo it was part of a person Chandu Lal's mansion(haveli in local language). According to Sikh traditions their 5th Guru Guru Arjun Dev was tortured here. His Samadhi is near Badshahi Mosque. It is also said that he used to live here and the large tree present here is also associated with him. The association is that he used to only eat fruits from this tree.
Sadly such a place having Sikh background is not preserved the way it should be.

The composite eco-system of Islam denies it the imagination of what west Punjab could have been had these people not been compelled to leave. Lahore's loss was New Delhi's gain.
My maternal great-grandfather, Rai Bahadur Ishwar Das was Registrar of Government College, Lahore. He lived on Race Course Road with his family. On holiday in Simla, they were told of Partition.
It wasn't just a house but a history that they left behind.
Same happened with Muslims of Eastern Punjab.

Hindus and Sikhs didn't ask for Partition. It was the Muslim League under Mohammed Ali Jinnah that promulgated the concept of the two-nation theory.
Interestingly enough, the Muslims of Punjab didn't support the Muslim League. Their leader was Sir Sikander Hayat Khan who was against this concept.
Ironically, the Muslims who supported Partition never left India.Their descendants crowd western Uttar Pradesh, central India and the southern city of Hyderabad in India to this day.
