I've been a computer user/programmer since 1989. I went down fighting tooth and nail not wanting to get rid of MS-Dos. 1995 I had an Acer DX 4 100. 8 megs of ram, 250 meg hard drive. Dual matrix led screen. 11 inch screen. I studied c++ Microsoft office Linux GW Basic, q basic and business computer info systems. Later I'd work networks using novel NetWare. At that time Novell worked off of Dos but also had a GUI. 2000 Novell came up with a suitable windows gui and they went downhill from that. I'm 55 and sti keep up with technology. I remember the days of loading 6.22 from 3 floppy discs.

Does Dosbian replace Dosbox, so far as compatibility goes? I've been running Dosbox on Win7, to run the VDE word editor. Can I run VDE on Dosbian the same way? Anyone know? It's an ARM-written OS, I assume, so how does that translate into compatibility, on older DOS titles?
Hello! I am using quick star guide from the official site, and I cant get to open SSH, and connect from my PC to Dosbian, I changed password, enabled SSH, expanded filesystem as said in the guide, but can't connect to my Dosbian, internet connected through Ethernet, ifconfig worked see my IP, but nothing happening... How would I connect to it? Thanks in advance!
my bad but I think I missed whether you're running these with overclock or if you needed the overclock and what RAM you're testing it with. Also, would be nice to know if it runs well on lower RAM Pi 4s. Thanks!
Can you please help me? I cant boot from USB with the latest (stable) firmware. I cannot even have Ubuntu on my rpi4 4GB, because I have weird black glitches on it.

Just be careful with this developer, he asked people to donate and when people didn't donate he pulled the plug for a little bit as punishment and said if people didn't want to pay him then he would only distribute to friends. I've since gotten to use it but it's far better and easier to just use dosbox.
I mean in reality, the whole distro is just an environment for dosbox to run in, preconfigured. So If you know what your doing with dosbox, this isn't even needed. The only benefit here is it launches right into it, and doesn't have the overhead of a desktop OS behind it.
@@RedMageGaming I tried running dosbox on my Pi3B+. I wasn't able to find the dosbox .conf file to edit for each individual game and I want able to figure out how to use the Imgmount command to run CD games.

Loved Big Red Racing, this random quote comes to mind seeing it:
"I feel like drinking a gallon of turpentine and pissing on a brushfire"
Yeah, exactly like Forza 👌😜😜😂😂😂
20K Subz - Get in brother!

Does a external diskdrive and/of dvd drive work in this distro ?
can I do that When I connect a USB disk it will detect as an floppy disk?

The dos4gw call is totally redundant. It even says that you did it wrong.
Yeah I figured that when I edited it.
It 8 characters for a directory and 8.3 for a file.
not case sensitive, capital letters, no space in names, no special characters..

It’s all in the description. Should still be fine on a 2GB Pi 4.
@@leepspvideo OK thanks :)
@@leepspvideo can you use the command Imgmount to mount CD based games?
If so that would be great for megarace and tie fighter and Warcraft 2

It’s not something I have tried.
How does performance compare to just running DOSBox on the pi?
I haven’t compared them together
'dir *.exe' when looking for .exe files. ;)
dir/w is best if you want to list the whole directory, too :)
