    Try the new models. They scalloped the bracing on the top. Now they project nicely

    Put an unbleached bone nut on it and cleartone strings and your guitar gets louder. I did that to my 2011 AC3R and my CPX1200II and both came to life from it. It doesn’t sound like a larger guitar but it got louder and better. The resonance of real bone is better than nubone. I think Yamaha made the LLX16 to be their loud and large dreadnought.

    Would you get a used one in 10/10 - 9/10 condition for 500 euro? If not what would you look at for a do it all acoustic guitar (I play electric and want one good acoustic to have)

    • @theguitarschoolproject3785
      @theguitarschoolproject3785  3 года назад +1

      Good question. When you say a do it all Acoustic Guitar does that include bluegrass Music ? If not I think the Yamaha A3R is very good value for 500 euros. For the extra volume you might want 2017 version of the A3R. The 2011 version is just a bit less loud and also slightly more affordable. If volume is not a major concern to you the 2011 model should be fine. You might also want to consider the concert size version of these Guitars. For the fact that you mentioned you play an electric guitar I think the AC3R or AC3M would suit you better. They're more comfortable to play. Transitioning from an electric guitar to a concert body should feel easier. Thanks for the question 🙂

    So would you get it your self for the price you are paying for it today? Or do you know any better choices. I was looking at this guitar today, but since the a3r is from 2017 im not so sure anymore.

    • @theguitarschoolproject3785
      @theguitarschoolproject3785  5 лет назад +2

      Hey... Sorry for the late reply! Honestly for $899 today I won't get this guitar because my needs have changed. You can get this guitar for $700 or less on reverb or eBay. About better choices for same money I would have to say that depends sir. For a great guitar on stage this Yamaha is hard to beat. Plus you also getting some cool materials like an ebony fretboard and bridge usually found on higher end guitars. You also getting a AAA grade top plus a AAA grade back and sides. If your primary reason is to play heavily or often on stage this guitar is hard to beat for the money.. feedback reduction, microphone modelling etc will be available at your finger tips. If you won't be needing all that and are primarily interested in a good sounding guitar just acoustically then check out the "Recording King" guitars. They are almost unbeatable sir. I can assure you will find no or very very very little difference between them and the famous Martin guitars. Scalloped bracing , slotted headstock infact all the great specs the world has come to love about Martin guitars at insane insane insane prices. Remember if you get one of these and later want to be "the stage guy" you could always fit in a great pick up like the LR baggs, k & K pickup etc.. But ofcourse you won't have all the options the Yamaha offers. My main downside with the 2011 Yamaha is the volume when playing unamplified. Don't get me wrong it has decent volume that most people would be ok with. It's just that for my needs I wanted a louder guitar. The 2017 model is louder though so you might want to consider that if volume is a requirement for you. Best thing would be to try these guitars at a store and make your decision. But if you don't have the opportunity and can only buy online you can trust my recommendations sir. One last thing ive heard of the bridge coming of the recording king but of course that also happens to the very high end guitars like the lowdens etc. Not a big issue though could just be reglued. Never heard of any bridge issues with the Yamaha A series so far. They are quite ridgedly built.
