    I have the a3r and couldn't be happier. I love playing it everyday. Great guitar. Both are great. They really ring out and sing. Mines the tobacco sunburst which I love.

    They sound almost indistinguishable. Maybe the 5 is a little chimier, more sustain, a little louder/treble/ cut through the mix? But just a tiny bit. Could be from the different nut and saddle. Everything else about these guitars is the same

    I gave my ac3r to my niece as a gift so I picked up an ac5r to fill the spot. Both are stellar guitars for the money with subtle differences.

      I also have an AC3R that I got on a 25% discount so got it almost as half as much as an AC5R, but I am wondering by subtle how subtle are we talking? Like a few %? Honestly curious how the 1900€ AC5R and even more expensive guitars if they are worth the price because for the AC3 when I first opened it up and played it it sounded so amazing and loud compared to my fathers old cheap 20y old acoustic. And as far as I noticed guitars with those features like the AC3 cost at least double of it.

    A série A3 na minha humilde opinião é a que possui a melhor relação custo x benefício.
    Eu adquiri recentemente um A3R e com algumas pequenas modificações como: a substituição dos materiais plásticos em uréia pelo Tusq e pinos em ébano, e pela instalação de tarraxas Gotoh digamos que trasnformei ele em um A5R, ficou ainda mais incrível!! 😍

    I like the tone of the A5R the best, however, both guitars sound very nice. I wouldn't be concerned at all about the quality of either because China has some amazing craftsmen (just consider the quality of Eastman guitars made in China... it is second to none) and everyone knows about the quality of Yamaha guitars made in Japan.

    • @LottimusMaximus
      @LottimusMaximus 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@JOPPMAN8000 They are nearly identical except the 5 is made in Japan, the 3 in China.
      There are some minor differences like the tuners, but they are nice in both models but the 3 is labeled “Yamaha” on the tuners. The nut and saddle material may be different they may use bone in Japan instead of Urea Plastic. Other than that the specs are the same, just manufactured in a different Asian country. Some people argue wood choice is better in Japan, but if you’ve ever been to Japan you know nearly all materials are imported. I doubt Yamaha Japan sources different wood than Yamaha China.

    • @LottimusMaximus
      @LottimusMaximus 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@JOPPMAN8000 kind of. With acoustics you could play 10 of the same exact model back to back and a few will stand out over the others. Sometimes you get a better top on one than the other. When I played the 3 vs the 5, the 3 sounded better than the 5. That’s not to say you find a 5 with an amazing top and a 3 with a subpar top and it’s the opposite. Just have to find a Yamaha dealer that has both in stock and decide for yourself. I like a more mellow sound. Others may love a bright shimmery tone. I think the sound of these are all going to be 90% plus the same.

    I think they both sound amazing! guess it just depend's on your preference, I honestly can't choose and I'm looking to buy one lol, if they offered the A5R in sunburst or black i would've bought one already, only because it's made in Japan and I wouldn't want to say later " Man i should've got the A5R" so hmmm guess I'm leaning toward's the A3R just because I want black which they don't offer so second choice is Tobacco Brown Sunburst. IDK decisions decisions

      @@phanhuyduc2395 Of course. L-series is higher spec quality materials and construction. Too brassy sounding for me. I sold my LL16D. I'm a pretty heavy strummer, and These guitars, although like Martin's in some ways, are really better for fingerpicking styles. Those Engelmann tops get saturated with strong strumming, even with torrefaction. Also, for me, the days of under-saddle piezo strip are long gone. They interfere with energy/tone transfer, and not in a good way. Metallic and slightly duller.

      My first listen was through Westone ES50 (I am lucky enough to have custom professional grade in ear monitors). I turned my screen away, because I wanted to really see if I could hear a difference. I’m in the market for an electric acoustic (I have an LJ56 Custom ARE that I bought in Japan this year, and wanted to see how these might compare). I was blown away immediately at how much clearer and brighter one guitar was over the definitely slurred/muddier sound of the other. It was a stark difference, and unmistakable in each piece played. Not as much low end as the 56, but still a beautiful sounding instrument.
      Easily made up my mind and ordered one tonight, 5 days until it arrives!

    @Gman44044 Год назад +6

    I don't hear any difference. Especially if you're not looking at the video. I wonder how many could tell the difference if they were blindfolded? People hear a difference because they want to. They have subconsciously decided one guitar is this way and other that way, and that's what they hear.
    Bottom line is, you're paying $600 more for the exact same guitar, same assembly line because it is made in Japan and comes with a hard shell case. Nothing wrong in that, but spare us of "A5r is sweeter" etc
