It does something to your soul to loose a baby or two. I had two miscarriages that were so hard to accept...but they had to deal with full term. why didn't they try again. Should have waited a little while before getting pregnant right away. She wasn't physically healthy enough. Breaks my heart for both. From all I the books I have read, people I listened to, listening to him, watching his facial & body expressions... I think deep down he was lonely. He had a full life & fun.. but lost his best friend & true love when they split. Sheila E was a fun & loyal friend. Good person, but after their fling was over, they were close like siblings & good friends only. Her words. His 2nd wife was not a great love story. I heard it was more about him wanting kids. watching his many videos as time went on you can see the light was not there anymore. Sad. He went from homeless, parent less to fame,fortune & love to worn down with pain, sorta sad. Had lots of friends, but he knew a lot were using him. Said so once. True friends done take, they give. One last thing ? from what I heard most of the people that knew him and Mayta a really thought she was a special sweet person and sincere and they were very right for each other. Maybe he just did not handle it he just didn't know how. He had a good life in between though. Peace & love to you Prince!

Such a beautiful song Mayte, it was hard to hold back the tears. My sister met her husband when she was 15. He passed away in her arms from a sudden heart attack on June 29, 2014. He was only 39. He was thin and active but he had high blood pressure and didn't take his meds thinking he was fine. She was about 3 months pregnant with their fourth child at the time. He was born on her late husband's birthday that December! I can't imagine the pain of losing the love of my life. I also met my husband at the age of 16. He's my one and only and we're 44 now. I don't know if u will ever see this but my sister will love this song.

When I listen to his song "Let's Have a Baby", I can hear how much he wanted a child. The child most probably would have been too talented and beautiful for words. Sorry it didn't happen for them.

Hi, I once read, a divorce ends a marriage not the special love between two people. This may not be true for every divorced couple, but I think it is true for Prince and Mayte, They had both suffered the tragedy of losing their son and a miscarriage shortly after they laid there son to rest. That would be challenging for any couple. God has allowed these challenges to occur. We may not understand "why" until we meet Him and all things become clear. I can only imagine Prince playing, singing and dancing for our Lord with a child in each arm (in heaven, anything is possible 😊). I love this song! I can't seem to find it. Exactly! I have nothing against Mayte. They were a beautiful pair when they were together. However, Prince moved on with his life. I don’t recall he and Mayte even being “friendly” after their relationship ended. I can’t imagine him being too happy with Mayte and the Mayte crusaders...I think the man deserves more respect than what’s being shown. The auctions and that book...paints a different narrative about her, for me. Just my opinion.
SheisAware Now Mayte was very young when her son was born and his death was a true tragedy as was his suffering. Prince was clearly devastated also. He was not nurtured enough when young to know how to support his young wife other than through music. He wrote some lovely songs around this loss, but holed up in the studio and left Mayte on her own or to her mother. Then they bought the house in Spain and he was working in the US leaving her overseas. It was widely reported she cheated on Prince with a Spanish dancer as well as a member of Prince's band somewhat earlier. The band member, angry at the dancer incidents outed her to Prince. He apparently went to see for himself and upon validation bought her a one way ticket to New York left her the house in Spain but locked her out of all their other residences. While Prince was no saint, he was very old school. To be his wife you had to be virginal, beautiful, faithful and yes...obedient. He wrote the song I love You But I Don't Trust You Anymore and did not speak to Mayte for 20 years. His ability to trust was affected by this for the rest of his life.

Everyone is commenting the Mayte was his true love...But, in reality he didn't speak or see Mayte in over 10 years prior to his death also, he had the marriage annulled which means it never existed. Less than a year later married someone else.

Hi Katrina gabriel thanks for your comments. Some times things aren't want they seem. It was said it directly related to his JW faith and Manuela was willing to convert. He didn't want to live in sin. So he basically married her on the rebound. It is believed Manuela came in the picture as his personal assistant and when Mayte was in Spain he started with her. Who knows. Just because one marries another doesn't mean he or she fully got over someone, Manuela was into Eric Benet real quick after marrying our dear Prince.
Mayte never looked at Prince, like Sheila E. always did. For Mayte, he seemed like a stepping stone in her career. He said she was strong minded. I believe they clashed in 'Who' wore the head in their personal life. There were comments and indications. Her with him, on and off stage, always looked like props for the other one. You never felt that deepness that you did w/ Ms Sheila... on and off stage. And now, losing him so early, Sheila E. seems so hurt. Mayte... not so much. Before he died in April, Mayte had her wedding rings and personal memorabilia from the time she was married to Prince up at auction (Match 2016). It was posted all over the Internet. No sentiments there !?!
wow didn't know those items she had were up for auction March 2016 I do remember her selling or auctioning a lot of his things on her reality show, Hollywood ex-wives. but she was having hard coping with the divorce and I think still in denial. I guess she was trying to move on because he did. but Prince and Sheila E go way back they have mix more in common and a deeper bond on a lot of levels.

This is a beautiful song, but it's not about Prince. Tommy Lee helped on it & if I recall he played guitar. This is a tribute to her son. It's disrespectful to Mayte & the love she has for her son to make this into something it is not. I think this would hurt her. People are posting things to make themselves feel better and to live vicariously through her time with Prince. Think of how it may make affect others. Her voice is very soothing and maternal. This should be released to raise awareness about Pfieffer's Syndrome and the importance of genetic testing and prenatal care before couples decide to have a baby. This sounds like a lullaby. This is not about unrequited love. It's about the love for a child. Don't cheapen that maternal bond please to satisfy "fanatics" who can't leave the past in the past.

Maybe maybe not but one thing for sure. He loved them both but at different times in his life. Prince once said love when you are young is different than when you get older. He also said in 1998, "if you lose someone dear to you, never say the words 'they are gone' because they will come back." We'll never know what he was thinking in his heart or mind but he will be missed. I pray they do the right thing with his music in the vault so that we can hear it if that's the will of the family.

Hi, I once read, a divorce ends a marriage not the special love between two people. This may not be true for every divorced couple, but I think it is true for Prince and Mayte, They had both suffered the tragedy of losing their son and a miscarriage shortly after they laid there son to rest. That would be challenging for any couple. God has allowed these challenges to occur. We may not understand "why" until we meet Him and all things become clear. I can only imagine Prince playing, singing and dancing for our Lord with a child in each arm (in heaven, anything is possible 😊). I love this song! I can't seem to find it. Exactly! I have nothing against Mayte. They were a beautiful pair when they were together. However, Prince moved on with his life. I don’t recall he and Mayte even being “friendly” after their relationship ended. I can’t imagine him being too happy with Mayte and the Mayte crusaders...I think the man deserves more respect than what’s being shown. The auctions and that book...paints a different narrative about her, for me. Just my opinion.

Mayte was very young when her son was born and his death was a true tragedy as was his suffering. Prince was clearly devastated also. He was not nurtured enough when young to know how to support his young wife other than through music. He wrote some lovely songs around this loss, but holed up in the studio and left Mayte on her own or to her mother. Then they bought the house in Spain and he was working in the US leaving her overseas. It was widely reported she cheated on Prince with a Spanish dancer as well as a member of Prince's band somewhat earlier. The band member, angry at the dancer incidents outed her to Prince. He apparently went to see for himself and upon validation bought her a one way ticket to New York left her the house in Spain but locked her out of all their other residences. While Prince was no saint, he was very old school. To be his wife you had to be virginal, beautiful, faithful and yes...obedient. He wrote the song I love You But I Don't Trust You Anymore and did not speak to Mayte for 20 years. His ability to trust was affected by this for the rest of his life.

He didn't want to live in sin. So he basically married her on the rebound. It is believed Manuela came in the picture as his personal assistant and when Mayte was in Spain he started with her. Who knows. Just because one marries another doesn't mean he or she fully got over someone, Manuela was into Eric Benet real quick after marrying our dear Prince.
Mayte never looked at Prince, like Sheila E. always did. For Mayte, he seemed like a stepping stone in her career. He said she was strong minded. I believe they clashed in 'Who' wore the head in their personal life. There were comments and indications. Her with him, on and off stage, always looked like props for the other one. You never felt that deepness that you did w/ Ms Sheila... on and off stage. And now, losing him so early, Sheila E. seems so hurt. Mayte... not so much. Before he died in April, Mayte had her wedding rings and personal memorabilia from the time she was married to Prince up at auction (Match 2016). It was posted all over the Internet. This is a beautiful song, but it's not about Prince. Tommy Lee helped on it & if I recall he played guitar. This is a tribute to her son. It's disrespectful to Mayte & the love she has for her son to make this into something it is not. I think this would hurt her. People are posting things to make themselves feel better and to live vicariously through her time with Prince. Think of how it may make affect others. Her voice is very soothing and maternal. This should be released to raise awareness about Pfieffer's Syndrome and the importance of genetic testing and prenatal care before couples decide to have a baby. This sounds like a lullaby. This is not about unrequited love. It's about the love for a child. Don't cheapen that maternal bond please to satisfy "fanatics" who can't leave the past in the past.

Maybe maybe not but one thing for sure. He loved them both but at different times in his life. Prince once said love when you are young is different than when you get older. He also said in 1998, "if you lose someone dear to you, never say the words 'they are gone' because they will come back." We'll never know what he was thinking in his heart or mind but he will be missed. I pray they do the right thing with his music in the vault so that we can hear it if that's the will of the family.
