Boy Jack better be prepared, cause The Sweet Loaf is gonna have all kinds of questions for him lol. Both my kids are all grown up and living life ,but when I see things like this it brings back so many memories. Thank you Cody.
I love that you still have the “I will break thee “ I remember it from the cheap vs expensive crescent wrench video from the Amazon series. Please bring the Amazon series back when you have time . Love how the cabin is coming along
I've been watching some of your old stuff - Amsterdam trip - Jack didn't look much older than she is now - they grow soo fast. Thanks for sharing the concrete pad - gives me more confidence in what I have to do, watching you do stuff.
Wranglerstar, years and years ago I was a chef at the Hilton. We needed 3000 wontons made.so each won-tonrice wrapper is 3x3 inches. You lay them out flat put a scoop of filling in each one then take a brush with water and wet the edges so when they are folded they stick together. SO A Tedious Task, well we had one of our younger members of our crew to perform this task. Usually this task would take 3 1/2 - 4 hours to complete. Well after an hour he reported all complete, we couldn’t believe. Sure enough there were racks and racks of won-tons completed. We asked how he got it done so fast. He said well I found the very large stainless table that could hold 500 at a time laid the wrappers edge to edge and put filling on each one. We asked how these’ll he could rush the edges with water without disturbing the filling with the brush, he immediately whipped out two squirt guns from his back pocket. So YES a Smart Lazy Man is needed.
I just finished putting one of these in my mother's house, had a few missing parts and a technical issue that wasn't their fault. The tech support was very good and helped me get the parts that were missing and get the rest job done. I had put one in my place a few years ago and had no problems. Yearly cleaning of the inside unit and it has given me no problems.
This one is super fuzzy for me, I’m planning on getting and installing this exact unit! Can’t wait for the rest of the project. Keep up the good work PROho de padre
I installed one of these for the first time last summer. Im excited to see how you end up running the lineset. My biggest challenge was trying to make the line look nice on the outside. You always do super clean installs so really looking for to see how u end up running it! Looks great so far!
I'm not sure about how the norms are in the US, but here in northern Europe we usually hang the compressors on a wall. You are going to need condensation water to drain, so putting in on the wall makes that part a lot more convenient. Espeically during winters. That way you don't have to cover it up to protect it from the elements either.
G'day Cody, having done more spilt systems that I care to remember ........... I've never seen one that doesn't offer plumbing and cable exit directly through/behind the head unit. i.e. piping and electrics, with cover, all external. Any compelling reason why you're planning on doing it that way ? Mighty cute mate ......... no one can ever take those memories away. I have two grown daughters ..... you gotta show her that vid, (amongst others), down the track ...... fair to say, .... no guaranteed, ....... another level of joy is yet to be had ; ) Cheers Duke.
The unit should be high up as possible. Cold air sinks and moving the air from the top will push cold air down and circulate the hot air up. The unit will also need to be at the least 12 inches from a ceiling to pull the air in to cool. I have used mini split systems for more than a decade and installed 4 myself. Also, you are going to need to perform head cleaning on the inside so having g enough space around the system to work is best.
I’ve put in 6 DIY mini splits and the first couple I ran the line sets through interior/exterior walls trying to minimize/hide things. You will kick yourself WHEN you have to replace them. Now I go directly thru the exterior wall and use an external chase down to the compressor.
Given the amout of snow you get, i would think a wall mount would be good foe that condenser.. then it can run as a heatpump too.. Sure, you have wood stove, so not a big deal.. but having a backup heat source is always good. I do love a nice concrete pour.. its always so nice to get thst concrete finish perfect!
I personally really like the "monobloc" systems, over the mini splits. They're newer, but have less "surface" to have issues that can cause loss of refrigerant charge, in a more protected housing. It's just easier to move chilled or heated water and use old fashioned radiators, or simply radiative heating/cooling in the floor.
I’ve installed 5 of these Mr cool units and have 2 in my house. So far so good. I do have a leaking evaporator coil issue I’m dealing with on a unit that’s less than 2 years old so I’m doing a warranty claim. We will see how it goes.
I would recommend putting the condenser on a stand so during the snow season you won’t have to keep it clear. Unless it’s not a heat pump then it doesn’t really matter.
1. Most definitely install condensor on a stand to keep it up and away from the snow and ensure good draining during defrost cycles. When snow is blowing around it can really accumulate on these units as it gets sucked thru the back radiator fins. They self defrost but that water freezes up as soon as it exits the unit and can back up until theres no place for defrost water to go. Been there! Manually defrosting with a propane torch in a blizzard. No bueno. 2. Mount the head upstairs or you'll be kicking yourself when it's 10 degrees hotter up there in summer months.
5:45 “East Coast Guy will just dry sack this”. I can confirm and verify this is true in Virginia! It blows my mind 🤯how cheap some contractors are here in the Washington DC Metropolitan area. Do it RIGHT the first time.
I might have gone in through the board right above the concrete blocks and up through the floor instead of drilling into the log. 6 off one and 1/2 dozen of the other I guess. Nice work
thank you for showing what a good father does. father daughter date. i like that your thought is i am raising someones wife and mom, and how you don't want to mess it up. good on you.
I’ve been exposed, I have a whole box full of them somewhere I couldn’t find I shamefully had to go to the local hardware store and buy a cheap steel trail
Minisplits are the fizz. If you need heat/ac, get one. You can install them yourself even if it's not a DIY style and requires a vacuum pump. Don't let the HVAC people rip you off. I put one in my garage a few years ago for $600. A co-worker had an HVAC company install one in their house and it cost over $5k. Mine works great. They've had nothing but trouble.
From the mouth of babes. She is a doll brother, and she has a wonderful family. I draw my fatherly inspiration from scripture. Proverbs 22:6 train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. I have 4 children, and they are the best thing that ever happened to me. I thank god every day he blessed me with them. God bless you Cody your a great father.
I’m not an expert, but it would probably be a good idea to mount the outdoor unit higher on the wall because of the amount of snow you get in that area.
A lazy/efficient man would by a preformed AC condenser pad and placed it on a level spot on the ground. No mixing, no tools, no excavator needed. A smart man would build/buy a stand up off the ground so his new HVAC is not buried in the snow this winter and actually making heat.
Mini split's are fantastic units. I'd almost want to go with one of those over the traditional big box format of an AC unit. Also contrary to the lazy guy addage. You want to avoid shammers and flim flammers who cut corners that don't need to be cut and then they just look busy while other people do the work. They're both smart and lazy and they really don't want to do any work. other than catching up on naptime.
You can tell the sweet loaf loves her brother and thinks highly of him. Precious.
Calling out Jack to fight the fire was the best!
Your little girl is precious. She obviously loves her big bro. That was great to hear at the end.
Boy Jack better be prepared, cause The Sweet Loaf is gonna have all kinds of questions for him lol. Both my kids are all grown up and living life ,but when I see things like this it brings back so many memories. Thank you Cody.
She just keeps getting smarter and smarter every time you see her. Amazing.
God Bless and prayers for Jack on the fireline.

Sweet loaf is so cute talking about the Fire 😊
She's getting to be so grown and the love for her brother is prevelant.
sweet loaf has grown up so much since I last saw her on a video. She is talkative!
What a confident and happy child she is. She put a smile on my face this morning.
this channel is a prime example of when internet is a good place.

The Sweetloaf is just precious; she really is her father's daughter
I’m doing one of these for my off grid home. Super excited to watch this progress.
Love the ending. God bless.

I'm stoked you're doing this. Been looking at one of these for my ranch. THANKS!

You may not be a professional but you are care and thorough. That more than makes up for it. Keep on.
Use a sawsall without a blade as a concrete vibrator on the sides of your form. Works great for Proho. Also that ending was very sweet.
Love that cabin WS!
You my friend really are an amazing craftsman, love how you work and teach as you go, Great Job😊

Maybe it would be an idea to build a roof over the compressor so its in the shade and it keeps the weather off of it

Inteligent and lazy people make the best IT professionals. We streamline and automate everything so we don't have to do barely a hard days work.
My first thoughts “no need for that rebar” and yes I’m an east coast guy
East coast we also have a magnesium trowel
I’ve been exposed, I have a whole box full of them somewhere I couldn’t find I shamefully had to go to the local hardware store and buy a cheap steel trail

Us eastcoasters would've elevated it up off the ground on wall brackets. Especially if its a heat pump.
I’m not an expert, but it would probably be a good idea to mount the outdoor unit higher on the wall because of the amount of snow you get in that area.
👍👍
Quite right, we dont like problems
A lazy/efficient man would by a preformed AC condenser pad and placed it on a level spot on the ground. No mixing, no tools, no excavator needed.

Truly, a smart mad would not overlook the massive 3 foot overhangs on a 1212 pitch not to mention the south facing placement
For concrete work, ProHo loves a hydraulic mixing bucket on his heavy equipment. Much fizz, works Bigly.
May god bless you
Fires up mini ex for 1 barrow load of gravel? That is next level.
Nice pad. How are you elevating the unit to keep it out of the snow. I issues with mine and the snow.
Intellectual west coaster completely didn't think about that part
