It's a 10min song with no chorus! A masterpiece that hangs together seamlessly
You mean, "I want that IV and his airway protected!" is not the chorus?!
@@whythatspreposterous hahahahahahahahahahaha
I know Axl took a lot of flak over the scale of these albums, but he truly took them from post-punk Aerosmith wannabes to the archetypal 80s LA rock band to things like this which are almost prog, almost opera and the closest I can think of is things like Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.
@@cybertrophic that isn't unfair, however regardless of how "Ax is the face/lead/voice" you want to go ... you're still left with the Ego.
'Five Guys That Nobody Could Tell What To Do" ... turned into a 20, 20, 20, 15, 25 royalty split ... into a "active contribution membership" way too quickly.
Especially when you look at #Snakepit. #Slash, #Matt, Gilby were in both bands, would bring Ax a new song ... Ax would reject it as "not good enough" so they took it to the pit, polished it ... then Ax accused them of "stealing the song he didn't want" ... not "once or twice, but Repeatedly.
in all the years i have tried to describe this song.. that's closest 👍😀
“Thats gonna be 10 mins of my life...” buddy if you only knew how many times I’ve listened to this and multiple 10 minute songs 😂

Bro we wouldn't give you a 10 minute song unless it's good
So many people hate on this song for its length but it's one song I could listen to on loop forever.
If they hate it for it's length then they aren't really GnR fans anyway...
I don't think I ever seen anyone react to Coma. This is one of my favorite GnR songs!
Mine too ❤
Same ♥
Me three
I'll get on this bus.
Room for another on this bus?
9:10 to the end has to be some of the best in rock history. It transforms from unfocused anger, unleashed rage and frustration to concentrated and focused contemplation in an instant. Axel’s vocals with the flanger effect are unsettlingly entrancing, and then 9:36 begins “Axl’s Last Stand” if you could call it that. He just lets it all loose and goes crazy and when you hear it, it sounds like a man waking up from a coma, shooting awake at the last downbeat of the song. What a fantastic hidden gem in the Guns’ catalogue.
Epic song. Another great track to check out from the same album is “Don’t Damn Me”!
Tony Guagliardo Right Next Door to Hell is pretty great as well.
@@Bradford659 and bad apples
one of slash best solos
Dead Horse also
I love that song (Don’t damn me) since the first time I listened to it when the album came out, but they never play it live. I read somewhere that it is imposible to sing it as the most of it gives not time for breathing. I do not know if it is true...
Nightrain, You Could Be Mine
NIGHTRAIN!
Definitely Nightrain!
and you could be mine too..both are stunning tracks!
NIGHTRAIN.
PLEASE. Dont know how he hasnt reacted to these
Best GNR song ever. I must have listened to this song hundreds of times when I first heard it. It's an absolute masterpiece of a song. Listen to it with the lyrics, you'll get lost in it.
Same! The "I wish you could see this, 'cause there's nothing to see..." still gives me goosebumps 15 years later
It's always been my favorite of there's too. With this coming out pre-internet and social media I always thought I was alone in my sentiment with how non-traditional it is. It'll never be a pop hit. It's really cool to see the love songs like this get and that I wasn't alone in my assessment of it.
Dust n Bones, Yesterday’s, 14 Years, Back Off Bitch, Bad Apples, Double Talkin Jive, Locomotive, Pretty Tied Up, BREAKDOWN!
You can’t suggest these deep cuts all the time! I love them too don’t get me wrong but as a beginner it is important to hear some bangers so that he keeps reacting and then it’s time for deep cuts
BREAKDOWN!!
Breakdown doesn’t get nearly enough love
Right Next Door to Hell
Love all of those songs.
GUNS N ROSES ITS SO EASY MUSIC VID
YES BEEN SAYING THAT FOREVER
I'm always saying it
NIGHTRAIN!!!!
Yes!!!
He obviously doesn't look at suggestionike he says
Yeah Coma is awesome but ONLY DIE hard fans of GNR know this song.
My fav
They’ve been playing it on the last tour too. Watching them do it live was the best part of the show for me!
I know this song but I’m not a die hard fan. GNR might be my, ballpark, 20th favorite band.
I LOVE COMA AHAHAH
Best song ever....
the ending of this song is GOLD
one of the best song ever written by Axl. Such an epic
While the lyrics are Axl’s, I believe the song was originally written by Slash and the band completed it.
@@CraigKostelecky what does that even mean.. so basically every song they've ever made?
@@nachocheez9690 No. While most songs are generally credited to the entire band, some songs were more from one person than others. This is one of those songs that Axl makes sure to call a Slash song.
“He’s still going!” 😂
YES YES YES YOU FINALLY DID COMA!!!! I was so excited to see this pop up. Axl wrote the lyrics about a time when he almost overdosed and these were the thoughts running through his mind (if I remember correctly). At first he liked it because it was peaceful, but then his subconscious reminded him why he needed to live (that part at the end where he just kept singing and singing). I always loved that it ended on a note of hope. Thanks for doing this one, it’s one of their best in my opinion.
It wasn't an overdose. It was a suicide attempt.
Slash wrote it
Feel the same. This is a MASTER piece that i always wanted a video music of it.
@@robertmckinnon7003 Thanks, my memory’s a little fuzzy.
@@user-ve6ok5kp9k From what I’ve read and heard in interviews, Slash wrote the music and Axl the lyrics. I could be wrong, but I thought I just watched an interview two weeks ago where Axl said that.
A little over 10 minutes long, this is the closing track on Use Your Illusion I. It's credited to Axl Rose and Slash, but Axl described it as Slash's "baby" in an interview with MTV. Axl said he wrote the song about when he overdosed, which he says was brought on by stress. "I just grabbed this bottle of pills in an argument and gulped them down," he said. "I ended up in a hospital, but I liked that I wasn't in the fight anymore. My first real thoughts were, 'you haven't toured enough, the record's going to be forgotten, you have work to do, get out of this,' and I woke myself out of it. But in describing that, people could take it wrong and think it means go put yourself into a coma." "I wrote 'Coma' in my heroin delirium," Slash told in 2011. "That's a song that I'm still proud of. There's not a lot of 'technique' - it's a pretty straight up kinda Slash approach. But the thing that's really interesting was the vamp-out, which was this circular rotating chord progression that never ended: the same chord progression every time, but it just kept changing key. That was my mathematical musical discovery. I just stumbled on it and it's very much me doing my thing… but it worked."
I could be wrong but isnt locomotive slash's baby?
@@spyrosbreath95 axl said this was his baby in an MTV interview with Kurt loder I guess it was before UYI came out ... I've never heard locomotive being described as slash's baby but u may be right idk
yes!!!!! apparently izzy hated playing the song bc of the constant change of key hahahah
@@spyrosbreath95 both of them are
Also important to mention that the lyrics are very specifically talking about a suicide attempt
"What is going on in my ears?" is the correct reaction to hearing this for the first time.
In my opinion this is the greatest song by the greatest band. It's got everything and I'm so glad you have heard it and enjoyed it - it's never going to leave your mind, and that's a good thing.
Coma.. Nice.. Best band EVER. 🤘🏻
You need to pay attention to the lyrics as much as if not more than the music... So much in there
Yeah, I mean, its like taking a bite and swallowing without even tasting it. I think he is used to songs that don't have to be listened to as closely to get the gist of. That and he is super young. I remember when I was a teen that I would listen to a song and love/hate it and not know a third of the lyrics. Then I'd revisit the song later in life and be 'wow, so that is what that song I heard so much actually was saying?'. At his age, I doubt he cares overly much.
@@stanleymyrick4068 it's not necessarily an age thing, though it could be. Some people just don't care about lyrics as much as they do for music and melody.
Especially when English is your first language it shouldn't be too hard to understand the lyrics. I myself need to see them written, since it isn't my first language. But it looks like he has those on screen as well lol.
It was younger generations that were taught to listen to the meaning behind lyrics, as well as in writing. They don't do that anymore, but it's still amazing how the music still touches people the same and relay the same emotions.
@@mommabear3594 I'm 26... There are more than plenty of younger people that definitely care about and pay attention to lyrics. Just as I know plenty of people much older than me that are more about the music like myself. What's with the need to have this generational nonsense? It's just depends who you are. It's hardly anything to do with age.
Now you gotta do It's So Easy. Also check out Get In The Ring
Dont make songs like coma n get in the ring these days
Get in the ring is a absolute classic also nightrain is a badass song followed with bad obsession
i saw them perform Coma live in 2019 and it was magical
I heard a live version and they missed/skipped the background sounds and imo was crap especially for a first listen , studio version 100% live version 45% but that's just my opinion
@@RavenMacy mainly talking about Slash.... Axl’s vocals were questionable that night in Jax lol
Do a new video on this one AND pay attention to the lyrics!! 😎
I seen them perform it when they toured with Metallica in 92. I will never forget that concert.

Yep!
They were the biggest band in the world to me for a few years. I was such a massive fan. They were taking influences from so many places but rocking so hard. Then they just stopped, no real info given to fans at the time, at least not to this kid. Fuckin blow and egos man. Goddamn. I kinda forgot about how good they were until you started reacting to it. Thanks for that!
10 minute song without a repeating chorus is amazing
It's always a joy seeing someone react to a song for the first time, and really enjoying it. So the story for this song is that it was written by Slash and Axl, and in interviews Slash stated he wrote most of it when he was in a "Herion Delerium", and Axl has also stated that parts of it were written about experiences he himself had once when he OD'd.
The depth in the lyrics is so real! Axl was bipolar and I know what it's like to live with, my late partner was bipolar. Such talent within the struggle. People say Axl wrote this after an overdose but he was writing parts of it even before Appetite For Destruction... So much of his personal feelings are in it.
The ODing was 1986.
I’d give this a million loves if I can. You are the best reaction channel on RUclips. You don’t do just the safe radio hit shit. You actually go deep tracks all the time. Don’t ever ever change or stop what you’re doing man.
All the peace and love in the world to you dude!!!!
Best reaction channel on RUclips? Hell no
Dude you're 10 minutes into the song and your like "that's it?" I fucking love it! Coma is the only song in existence that can generate this reaction.
For me the best G n’ R song ever! I can listen this song every day. The lyrics are so true!
Okay, new recommendations!!!
Poison, Talk dirty to me
Whitesnake, Still of the night
David Bowie, Space Oddity
I mean there are TONS more, but those are my favorites from those artists!
Slash is not the only guitarist on this album and the one's prior. The other guitarist was Izzy Stradlin. He sang lead on few songs, 14 years, Dust N Bones, You Ain't the First, and Double Talking Jive. He was also involved in writing many of their songs.
After all of these years, I still don’t know if he is straddling or not.
@@CraigKostelecky I don't think I have seen it Straddling only Stradlin.
Always loved the Izzy influenced songs extra bluesy
I remember listening to this CD the day it was released. I had to stop it after this song, catch my breath and listened to it again. So much going on, so many layers.
Slash released a couple albums with guest vocalists. Mostly Myles Kennedy, but others took the mic. One of the standouts was Beautiful Dangerous with Fergie. Great riff and she kills the vocals.
Best GNR song in my opinion & the only GNR song without a chorus. Absolute masterpiece born from Axl's suicide bid
slash birthed it but yes 😂😂
About time someone did a deep dive on this album! Everyone sticks to the usual songs. I'm glad to see you get into this song. It's a good one!
There peole that do the deep cuts, just that you need to find the right one.
Theres a RUclips channel called 'The Nickadoug Express' and he's reacted to all GnR songs apart from lies and Chinese democracy.
you've heard so many songs of guns and still don't know when slash is playing???

He doesn't listen or pay attention he still doesn't remember Axl name after 10 GNR songs
@@nathanparrish9136 thats alright, my man appreciates the music and thats good enough.
Imagine listening to this song when it first came out over 30 years ago, but you had to have the tape or CD, or know a friend who had it because they didn't even play this masterpiece on the radio. UYI 1 and 2 is one of rock and rolls greatest albums , and one of the greatest bookmarks in the history of music. To this day this song is a staple on my playlist, and I still feel the same wash of enjoyment everytime I listen to it. You have no idea how happy it makes me feel to know that a triumph of musicianship like this is still being appreciated so long after it's creation
The coolest thing about this song is that it’s not in one key. It’s built around many different keys in what’s called the cycle-of-fifths. This is why it sounds so cool and unlike any song youv’e heard before. It’s mathematics in your ear.
false....i been dropping "its so easy" in your comments over & over...you just ignore. its their best song, only 4m long.
It’s so good

I love how speechless this song makes you. This is my all time fav GnR song.
You reacting all happy is wonderful but strange to watch, as the song is about suicide and depression. That being said, it's been my personal anthem since I first heard it when the album came out.

The emotion behind this song is the reason it's my favorite GnR song. Close second is Estranged.
This song is a hidden gem only people that bought the CD know about. Too long and some profane language kept it off the radio stations. Holds up great 30 years after it came out.
This was my favourite song since I got the album back in 1991. I was only 10 years old but I NEEDED this album (Use your illusion 1 , but also UYI 2) saved up money, did some mowing and all kid of thing, what ever to get the money. Still is one of my favourite songs..
Take some time to read the lyrics. There’s so much in there.
True story: I worked as a candy striper at the hospital when this album was out and I used to listen to Coma on REPEAT on my headphones while working in the ICU. It calmed me, weirdly enough. I didn't have much to do but sit and make sure people didn't code anyway. So I watched monitors and listened to Coma.

This song is actually about a time Slash and Axl were in a coma and the whole song was done in one take!
It's much more for Slash, he was declared dead for about 5 minutes, not Axl.
The song is about when Axl got in a argument and got stressed and he downed a hole bottle of pills and ended up in the hospital and Axl was free of all stress when in the hospital.
Axl wrote the song, slash and Izzy the music
@@katara69 that is correct, the music was already written tho, Axl just wrote over the instrumental, a masterpiece 🔥🔥🔥

Dude I love watching your reactions to this, kinda made my day. Awesome to see you rocking out to it.
This song always calms my mind, thinking that you are all alone in a alien planet that doesnt really care if you live or die.
Dead horse is my favorite use your illusion song, and it's short
I might be wrong, but I think this song was written based on the aftermath of a brutal argument between Axl Rose and his girlfriend. The fight got so intense that Axl locked himself in the bathroom, refused to come out, and started taking all the pills he had access to in an attempt to commit suicide. He fell into a deep coma, but they managed to revive him at the hospital and he later wrote this song about the experience of being in that empty, comatose sate.
Again, this could be wrong but I definitely remember hearing it somewhere.
Yes, that’s what I remember hearing him say! That right there. I knew I wasn’t crazy.
Axl's girlfriend: "All you wanna do is have sex, sex, sex!!"
@@mangerinegirl In an interview, on August 31, 1990, with MTV's Kurt Loder on Famous Last Words, Axl talks about the song "Coma":
There's a song called Coma that's like 11 minutes 45 seconds long with no chorus. And I think there was only one verse that somewhere it repeats itself. It's Slash's baby. It's his monster. The song used to be called Girth.
But I started writing about when I OD'ed 4 years ago. The reason I OD'd was because of stress. I couldn't take it. And I just grabbed the bottle of pills in an argument and just gulped them down and I ended up in the hospital. But I liked that I wasn't in the fight anymore and I was fully conscious that I was leaving. I liked that. But then I go, all of a sudden, my first real thoughts were that "okay, you haven't toured enough. The record's not going to last; it's going to be forgotten. This and that, you have work to do. Get out of this." And I went "No!" and I woke up, you know, and pulled myself out of it.
But in the describing of that, some people could take it wrong and think this means "go put yourself into a coma," you know. And so it's really tricky, and I'm still playing with the words to figure out how to, like, show some hope in there
One of the best songs of the Use Your Illusions double albums.
Its based on a book, Coma, about a medical intern who stumbles on a conspiracy in the hospital they work in concerning an unusually high number of coma patients.
I know this was posted sometime ago but I just wanted to say thanks for this reaction. It’s an amazing song. I’ve never thanked anyone for reacting to something but “Coma” holds a special place in my heart. It’s also cool seeing someone in my age range head banging. God bless you and your family.
Criminally underrated gem by GNR. Doesn’t get enough recognition probably because of its length.
Lol Isaac
The weird bits are where he's hearing people while he's in a coma
Fun Fact: Coma is the longest guns and roses song!
best reaction to this song... I'm happy you liked it mate....
He has the second largest vocal range in history. It's all just his pure talent in this song
Hey, Axl's awesome but that's just categorically false lol. In HISTORY, there was a dude named Tim Storms who had 10 octaves. Axl is 4th among modern singers, behind Mike Patton, Diamanda Galás, and David Lee Roth. Patton is 6 octaves, and Axl, Galás , and Roth each have five octaves, but the other 2 can go just a touch higher (or could. Roth is garbage now).
I agree with Mystress. Axl is amazing, but this claim is demonstrably false.
@@Mystress1980 Axl Rose has 6 octaves in his prime and as far as I know there are only 8 octaves so how can that one singer have 10?
Please please react to Breakdown by Guns N’ Roses!!!!!! It’s a true masterpiece!!!!✨✨✨✨ you will love it!!!
I love that on every guns and roses reaction you ask "what kind of song is this"? It's a guns n roses song. "What is happening right now?" Guns n roses is happening. "I don't know what to expect." That's because it's guns n roses. Same answer to every question because that's the only way to describe them.

LRF JOJO DONT LISTEN TO ANYONE ELSE!! IT‘S SO EASY NEXT!!! (hype song with music video)
You keep saying "this better be good". Have we steered you wrong yet, young man? Particularly the "long" songs? These days, musicians get selected artists based on how they'll look in a video, and the choose songs for their property (they do own the artists) based on replay royalties per minute. Thats why all your life, a song has been not more than three minutes. A commercial break. They labels have destroyed everything bigger than that. And when you ask "what is going on", what does it sound like? Axl freaked out, took a crap load of pills and he did OD. This is somewhat autobiographical as a result- this is what he remembers of something that should have killed him.
Bro, best reaction ever. One of my all time favourite songs from when I was 13...Im 41 now 😅 The headbanging was priceless and exactly how the song is meant to be enjoyed.
