They weren't called "The Most Dangerous Band In The World" for nothing. The most real rock band there is. None of these guys were playing a part, they were who they portrayed

I am actually looking forward to seeing them play live.
"That Afro Dude" is Saul Hudson, effectionately known as #Slash. He is my single favorite guitarist of all time.
Steve Vai is great (Bad Horsie rocks) and Orion is my favorite piece of music ... but Slash!!

I remember hearing "It's so easy" back in 1990, and I had never heard anything so explicit lyrically in my life... Goes to show how far "explicit lyrics" have come since the 1980's. And yeah, we "lose it" when we crank out Guns N' Roses!!!

Exactly. The most hard rocking song can just pump you up or calm you down. Depending on your mood. All it does is just change you mentality going into it. If your in the mood to rock out, you focus more on the music. If you wanna be calmer, you focus on the lyrics. At least that’s how it works for me.

See I guess it's because I was raised on mostly hip hop and newer type Rock that I don't get a chill vibe from this track. Pink Floyd would make me chill but this track gets me hyped. If you can chill to this track but more importantly this video, I guess you would probably be speed metal to get you hyped right? My friend would listen to Old School Pink Floyd to help him go to sleep. It's so easy.. I can't stay calm when I hear that. I guess this is definitely my favorite band ever. Remember I'm about the same age as homeboy above doing the channel. That means I was pretty much raised on what I mentioned above when it comes to different genres. My pop would listen to '70s rock. AC/DC gets you to hype up or does it mellow you? I'm talking about without the weed haha. Just trying to get ideas from people of different age groups. Peace

I think Axl was simply talking about what they let the rockstar lifestyle do to them. They felt like they could say and do anything. Axl is known for his temper and out of control behavior, but they thankfully survived and I won't ever forget being a teenage girl hearing this for the first time in the Summer of 1987. 🤘

Guns N Roses are the best & they are my fav. band, of all time. In real life, I am a good girl (no drugs, no drinks, no smoking, etc.) & I always use kindness, as my way in life. However, Guns N Roses bring something different into my life, something wild & carefree, I guess. This band's music speaks to my soul & blows my mind away, since 1990, on so many levels. You do not have to be a villain, to be a huge fan & love this band (or any other rock band, for that matter). I listen to them, whenever I possibly can.
Jojo, Guns N Roses are still touring! :) Maybe you & your dad can attend one of their concerts, in the near future? Attending at least one of their concerts, is something you could treasure, for the rest of your life :)

I remember sneaking out into my grandparents living room to watch the premiere of the video for Welcome to the Jungle in 1987. In November of that year I bought Appetite for Destruction on cassette with my 4th birthday money.
I’ve been listening to GNR ever since. I owned every GNR album, including a bootleg live performance from 1986 except for Greatest Hits because the band had no say in that album. I even have several soundtracks that the band was featured on, including the Interview with a Vampire soundtrack and the End Of Days Soundtrack.
As far as what I do when listening to it. The answer is whatever I’m doing at that moment. Driving, laundry, working, whatever. When I was a kid, I listened to music mostly while just walking, either through my neighborhood or in the woods. As I got a little older, it was smoking cigarettes, drinking underage, driving way too fast and recklessly and the occasional recreational drug (sometimes way more then occasional).

    • @alansands256

Lies! Welcome to the Jungle didn't get play on MTV until early 1988. And there wasn't any formal "Premier" for this previously unknown band. They just snuck it on at 3am to see what would happen. And the stoners up at the hour who saw started calling MTV asking "who ARE those guys?" And their star started rising from there.
So sorry, your story doesn't check out.

Lol, you ask, or worry, about what we were/are like when listening to this (and music like this). I am what would be considered a fairly buttoned up, professional woman (am older), but this is the kind of music I and my friends listened to at clubs in our club days (metal/biker bar type places, lol). I always found rock/metal to be great therapy to deal with my frustrations - it is a great outlet, which allowed me to be "buttoned up and professional' all week to get the job done. It is still great therapy but not the only kind of music I listen to, by any means. I was listening to Amy Winehouse while making breakfast this morning. I love most all music.

I never bought a Guns and Roses album, but loved when they came on the radio. I was pretty poor back then so I couldn't buy many CD's, but when they came on the radio, I turned them up. :) There is a song called "Don't Cry" by Guns and Roses, featuring Shannon Hoon (the amazing lead singer of Blind Melon) which is one of my favorite songs from Guns and Roses and the way Axl and Shannon's voice mesh together is really good. Shannon is singing the high parts (Shannon is a guy) and Axl is singing the lower parts. I didn't really "come into my own" until the nineties when I would discover alt rock.. Nirvana, Alice in Chains, the Cranberries, Mazzy Star and so many others. I was in a band.. spend a lot of time just hanging out with friends, writing and playing music. I was a very sad young woman... lots of family problems and boyfriend problems..... I would "bleed" through my music, if that makes sense and sing a long with my favorite artists, mentioned above when I wasn't hanging out with friends. Drove some of my neighbors crazy probably. Lol

As they progressed, the use you illusions album became more "grown-up", more toned, piano added, so on.. Truly one of the greatest bands of all time, and they were as they portrayed themselves, not like other glam-rock artist, who done it for the looks... these guys nearly died on multiple occasions on alcohol/drugs, robbed hookers, etc..

Drinking n driving was about the safest thing GNR were doing in the 80's, you should look into the whole Hollywood BLVD/Viper Room/Roxy/Rainbow scene when all these bands were huge, they did more drugs, spent and made more money, slept with more groupies than you'd ever believe, makes rappers look tame. GNR were playing to crowds sometimes over 1,000,000 all over the world.
Some great documentaries and books on that time/culture.

For many years I was a head banger or metal head as we were called... I find your reaction to what I grew up with absolutely hysterical... I really enjoyed this video... And I never really went down some of the worst roads i could have. I have to smile when I think about some of the things I felt and did back then.... It was a way for us to get out our anger. When you said what were y’all like when y’all listened to them (referring to rap music) It’s the same thing. I wasn’t alive at the time but I have studied that shit. And believe me when I tell you there’s not much of a difference. That’s what’s beautiful about music. Dude I love NWA, Cube, Nas, Dr. Dre, Tupac. But I also love Guns N’ Roses, Mötley, metallica And they came out around the same time. (Mötley came out about 6-7 years before them but they’re in the same category) All the rap guys were a few years after but like everybody came together and loved music. It’s amazing. And I wish I grew up in that time.

Guns N Roses is known as the world's most dangerous band but they have a soft side to but appetite for destruction was the album that broke record's and made them famous

Guns N Roses were the real deal. They weren't a rock band as much as they were a group of street criminals who also made music. Also, this is rock n roll- you're supposed to be the villain!

Appetite came out my senior year....they were HUGE right out of the gate. This video shows you why. Great music came out that year from a few bands but Appetite for Destruction & Electric (The Cult) were my two favorite albums that year.

look cant say for everyone, but our entire school was crazy about rock and songs like this and we didnt take any shit from anybody. But that never meant we broke rules or anything. We were very goody two shoes, but we fought for everything we wanted in life and didnt rest till we got it and no matter what anyone else said, we never let anyone tell us no. And that is a thing I really am proud of. the real scary people were in the 60's. I wasnt alive that long ago but they legit had environmental "terrorists" back then who were also hippies...brrrmhehehe. I am telling you, the world is getting less and less open minded and more and more backwards and restrictive by the day. And people like no likey. Wait till our generation becomes heavyweight in politics and replaces these boomers.

I will absolutely crank Appetite while doing my housework. Or working out. Or walking the dog. Anytime is a good time for GnR.
Unfortunately too young to have seen them in their prime, but I did go to a concert in 2017 when they got back together (mostly). Axl’s voice still sounded pretty good early in the tour when I saw them. Incredible! 3 1/2 hour long show. Nonstop energy. 55 year old Axl was running around giving it everything. Duff and Slash were obviously amazing. Richard Fortus is a super talented addition to the band, as well.
Wish I could go back in time to see them in the late 80’s.

I seen them on my 15th birthday, opening for Motley Crue on there girls girls tour Nov. 3rd 1987 in Mobile, Al. Nobody even new who guns and roses was at the time. It was probably 3 months before the Visio for welcome to the jungle came out. And they blew the Crue AWAY!!!!!

I was 9 years old when "Appetite for Destruction" came out. My mom took me to a store to buy my very first cassette for my brand new tape player! She said I could pick anything I wanted and she also picked one for me. THIS was my choice! Hers? Debbie Gibson! 🤣 She def didn't understand her child! 🤣❤️

I dont know if the dates and locations are posted yet. But when they are you need to see if you can catch a show. Once in a lifetime oppotunity

GNR is one of my fave bands since I was 8 years old. "It's So Easy" is one of my favorite songs from Appetite for Destruction and the way I understand those lyrics is: he mentions drinking, driving, fights, women... things that men considered badass at the time (and many still do), right? But when the song slows down, after he says "It's so easy when everybody is trying to please me", he says "It's so easy but nothing seems to please me". So, what's the point in doing and having all that stuff so easily if you don't even enjoy them? As in life, most things we get easily end up being taken for granted. About what you said in the beginning, rockers can be a bit of pain sometimes when they go "What about this or that band?". The best band is the one whose songs speak to you the most, lyrically, melodically, rhythmically or just because. Period.
