How much louder would you say it is compared to stock? I'd want to do this but I don't want it to sound as loud as a muffler delete / coffee can exhaust lol
I just had a Quicksilver system installed on my 2011 cooper s which sounds great with deep tone. but with no resonator. I definitely feel the drone before 2000 to 3000 rpm when accelerate. bit annoying sometime.
i have a 2007 r56 and it does lil pops but only in sport mode i think i depends if you have that option in your Cooper S. i wanna do a 2nd cat and resonator delete and hope i will have the same result as this guy in the video cause it sounds really good and the pops and bangs man..... amazing
XxChris41, any news on your 2010 reso delete?...am planning reso delete too on my Mayfair 2010 edition mcs..as they were saying no ecu pop for 2010..tnx
Hey man.I just got a 2008 Mini cooper S and was wondering what year your car is? Also about what RPM does it keep quiet? Thanks! Cant wait to do the same to mine.
Great video man! Sounds great. Quick question for you though. Do I need to have the straight pipe after the resonator delete? or Can i just remove the resonator and be done...while achieving a similar sound.
Hey I had my resonator deleted today and replaced with a straight pipe and even though the sound is richer I don't get the pops and burbles at lower RPM's, do you know anything about it?
+Gregg Ohlins The pop is made by the ECU, not the exhaust. The resonator delete only serves to amplify the noise. Post refresh stick-shift Cooper S' ('11 and onward) come with this feature, but it's active only when Sport mode is on. Auto's and pre refresh Coopers do NOT have them.
Yup, just resonator. Slight drone at above 75-ish mph, but Coopers' are so loud inside anyway you barely hear it. You barely hear the exhaust note when in the cabin too, just a low growl. And nope, I have no regrets. It was 40 bucks well spent.
Robert Barnes I actually did on more than a few occasions, but it's spread out through the video. Only so much you can do in a residential area. Please skip to 2:14 for a true WOT clip.
but the 2nd cat is right infront of that resonator so i'm curious if you kept that or delete the whole thing ? which in my eyes is a better reason to call it straight pipe. Just wanna make sure cause i want to do the same but not make it to loud :)
Yup. Only the resonator was deleted for 40 dollars (which is actually a bit much, you can get it done for 30 if you look). The muffler is stock, and there's no drone I've noticed until maybe 80+mph, when there's a very, very light drone you can hardly hear. Just keep in mind it won't sound this loud in the cabin. When you're inside all you hear is a light growl.
***** Well, you don't really 'buy' the resonator delete if that's what you mean. You just go to any muffler shop and have the resonator of your car (not the muffler, not the catalytic converters) removed and replaced with a straight pipe. Not sure how it would sound on a Clubman though since you have 2 mufflers.
I have a questions here, I have change my r56 cooper s exhaust to Fjcw exhaust(only back box) , the sound didnt change much, how can I make it louder?and second one, could delete resonator effect the performance?
If you only changed the rear muffler with a JCW one then yes removing the resonator will make it significantly louder. But there will be no performance increase at all, since the resonator is a straight through design already.
The popping is built into the ECU, it's not a natural thing. So it will still only do it in sport mode, albeit at a slightly louder volume without the resonator. .
Car is sold sorry. But both cars have resonators. You're thinking of the cat which is next to the resonator and I don't see a reason why they'd change the design of the exhaust between the '10 and '11 despite the refresh and engine update. For what it's worth though my resonator was about 8-12" long and around 6-8" tall and was behind the cat, should be the same for both cars except you won't get the pop and burble because that was introduced in 2011.

So the popping is only on copper S '11 and above? Because i have a '10 cooper S. I would love it if it could pop if i were to get a resonator delete!

XxchrisxX41 would be glad for an update of your 2010 reso delete..tnx

Nope, no CEL came on.
Salut l'amie qu'est-ce ta fais comme modification pour pouvoir avoir cette sonorités ?
Great video man! Sounds great. Quick question for you though. Do I need to have the straight pipe after the resonator delete? or Can i just remove the resonator and be done...while achieving a similar sound.
Zach Woods Mine was just a resonator delete, but I kept the muffler. Many swap in a JCW muffler for a more aggressive sound.
Love the sound, man! Quick question. Did the Check Engine Light come on?
Love the sound, did it affect gas milage?
lol no it wont

+Anthony Markarian Ah ok mine is an 07 R56 MCS. I really like the sound it makes but still I love the backfires that post '11 models make.
+Gregg Ohlins just deleted my 09 MCS resonator and yup sounds nothing like this :/
This is gonna sound stupid, but it kinda has to "break in". Mine sounded better after a few days believe it or not.
Gregg Ohlins only the facelifted r53 models backfire like THIS (2005-2006)
Sounds good. This is JUST the resonator...Cats are still there correct? Any drone inside the vehicle? Any regrets? Thanks for your time
Yup, just resonator. Slight drone at above 75-ish mph, but Coopers' are so loud inside anyway you barely hear it. You barely hear the exhaust note when in the cabin too, just a low growl. And nope, I have no regrets. It was 40 bucks well spent.
love that gargle
You need to learn how to give it some beans. U didn't go above 2500-3000 rpm once.
Robert Barnes I actually did on more than a few occasions, but it's spread out through the video. Only so much you can do in a residential area. Please skip to 2:14 for a true WOT clip.
is this a resonator and 2nd cat delete or only the resonator ? would like to have a response :)
Rhymes The Key. It's just the resonator which was replaced with a straight pipe.

Rhymes The Key. Yeah i meant only the resonator, not the second cat. I meant straight pipe as in I didn't replace it with another muffler etc.
ChaiLatte ah i understand thanks mate!
So is everything stock except for the resonator delete?
Resonator removal only? Stock muffler ? Any cabin drone?
Yup. Only the resonator was deleted for 40 dollars (which is actually a bit much, you can get it done for 30 if you look). This is just the resonator delete and not muffler also?
damn !! 3:39
Does it make backfires??? I mean, flames coming out of the exhaust tips?
I have a questions here, I have change my r56 cooper s exhaust to Fjcw exhaust(only back box) , the sound didnt change much, how can I make it louder?and second one, could delete resonator effect the performance?
If you only changed the rear muffler with a JCW one then yes removing the resonator will make it significantly louder. But there will be no performance increase at all, since the resonator is a straight through design already.
Did you notice more turbo whistle after this?
Batman The Dark Knight Nope. That waa more evident after I changed the intake.
BTW, Is that sport mode or is it gurgly all the time now?
The popping is built into the ECU, it's not a natural thing. So it will still only do it in sport mode, albeit at a slightly louder volume without the resonator.
.
Please can you send some pics underneath...2011 may have different 2010 reso
2010 has 2 bulgy stuff in there a few inches apart..tnx
