Also a fun fact, 3.0 was supposed to be about the events of the 14 year time skip without Shinji, but the director changed his mind and wanted the audience to feel the same bamboozlement Shinji experienced being thrown into the story without any explanation. Can't wait for your reaction to 3.0+10!
For real that cliffhanger must've been a killer. They definitely did a good job of making Shinji's confusion spread to the audience. Though I'm curious what a full movie without Shinji would've looked like too
@@PinkCubed While the director is mostly done with EVA after 3.0+1.0, he did mentioned during interviews that he's open for other creators to explore that 14 year time skip, since he admits regretting not fleshing out that storyline even further. There was already a rough draft for that story (which was the preview at the end of 2.0) already written ages ago, so who knows what EVA has in store for us in the future if they do decide to make more.

I am able to view the first couple lines of the comments even if they are deleted through my notifications so I still see at least part of it and appreciate it.

EDIT: Having done some research, it may be related to bugs in mobile RUclips. Seems like a RUclips wide bug, though, so hopefully they'll figure it out soon.
This third movie was a tougher pill to swallow for many of us for sure. I gotta say though, the next and last rebuild movie kind of makes up for it, and brings more clarity to what the heck went down in this one. I had conflicted feelings about it when 3.0 came out too, but after watching the last one, 3.0 is actually growing on me.
I now understand what Anno tried to do but couldn't enjoy it back then, I tried to rewatch it yesterday and stopped mid point I was so bored and deconnected from it. The series is still my favorite show of all time.

When 3.0 was released, i was neutral about it but still intrigued since it was so different from the tv series. The community was also quite confused about it at first but we had many years to formulate theories and notice many references from the movie. It was really fun!
3.0 definitely needed many rewatches to fully understand it. After some consideration, i actually liked 3.0, even more than 1.0. 2.0 is still my favorite tho. There was something special about 3.0, the mystery of it all, the tone and the music was amazing!

if you look closely you will notice that the eva unit 13 has the colors of eva 01 in NGE is a nice reference
The most lore confusing thing in this and the next movie is howthe hell is nerv, which seems to be just Gendou and Fuyutsuki making all that hardware? They don't show drones or automated factories or anything, and I'm pretty sure neither of them have engineering knowledge, tbh I have no idea what either of them are professors of exactly, Fuyutsuki seems to be some kind of bio mechanical person but what does that even mean? Especially when Wellle seems to have people doing a lot of manual labor on their things.
Yeah that's a really interesting point. The post-impact world wouldn't have any of that infrastructure or mass raw resource gathering that would be neccesary for all that stuff. I suppose it can be chalked up to using crazy angel tech stuff, but it isn't really addressed like you're saying. These last two movies feel really surreal to me for these kinda reasons
Apparently Anno's depression got worse again after the 3rd one came out and thus the delay, it was probably at its worst in EoE, guy got married in between the decades and I feel he's significantly less off the cuffs thanks to it.
in german, they call the munition of the 'wunder' AT-Field Breaker munitions. its always funny to me, how the german dub team freezes some frames to give more explanations.
I've stumbled upon your channel while searching for Made in Abyss reactions and was surprised by your choice of animes to react to, basically my favorites. Nice to see that you enjoy what you're doing and you're actually involved and paying attention to the shows. Its still frustrating to watch 3.33, while weirdly I watched 3.33 the most times among eva movie series....
This movie is pretty heavy, I think that it has a lot of narrative flaws but even with that it's not bad, We only know what shinji knows. Thank you for the reaction. Below you can find a little point's that are hard to get but they are important to understand this movie.
The ritual was like this:
In the beginning:
First angel: Kaworu / Adam
Second angel: Rei / Lilith
With the awakening of Eva-01 in 2.22 they fusioned Rei (lilith's soul) with Eva 01 (copy of lilith's body), so now the second angel is Eva 01.
With the fourth impact and the death of the 12th angel and kaworu, like a chess play, Gendo convert Eva 13 in the first Angel and Kaworu in the 13th angel.
3.0:
First angel: Eva Mark 13 (???)
Second angel: Eva 01 (Yui)
Ah thanks for breaking down the ritual that makes sense. It's insane to think that Eva 01, with both Lilith's soul and being a copy of the body, is basically an engine for Mistato's sky ship. Humanity really turning Lilith herself into a battery its crazy

3.0 is actually my favorite, shocking on the first watch but it really is a beautiful movie

Talking about Rei and Shinji being stuck in the plug, "Children of preordained fate" in a pentagram, and like nothing to do with submarine captain misato or all that stuff with Shinji and Kaworu and Rei chillin. Really goes to show how much a movie can change in the few years it takes to produce it. Also they promised lots more fanservice. Where is my Misato fanservice??? Smh fr

A very underated gem
Yoooooo! Sorry for being quiet last movie, I tried to leave a coment but YT kept deleting it and I gave up.
But this movie has some balls drawing all known lore 14 years into the future, top tier anime, my dude. But if you recall, this is Shinji's lowest point, this is still an exact parallel of the events of NGE. (just try counting Rei 2's death on NGE as the near 3rd impact equivallent, the one time the spaguetti angel tried to absorb her then wiped out the city with the self destruct mechanisim.)
So Nerv using shinji to kill Kaworou is an exact parallel, Misato being manipulated by Gendo is the same and SEELE overshooting Gendo's moves are exact "looping events."
But anyway; Lilin = "sons" of lilith. Angels = "sons" of Adam.
The recepie for an Impact is always the same, body + soul of Adam, Lilith and their children.
it is why Kaworu and shinji were in the same eva, it's why they ascended into the divine and why the near 3rd impact happened.
Asuka Calling Human's "Lilin" at the end is interesting.
The corkscrew thingy is the bllack moon. Also, prepare yourself for the fanservice :3
One theory suggest that this lasts movies "2.0" and "3.0" are a glimplse at the anti-otaku culture statement. Shinji basically left for dead the rest of the world because of his anime waifu... Much like Gendo in EoE. But not only that, Kaworu also showed Shinji that change is also an acceptable outcome, "it's important to try out new things in life" and that message all over the movie, just think of the Imagery of that tree next to the piano
One other curious theory says that Shinji's SDAT (his cassette player) has alway's been looping on track 25 and 26 as a wink to the episode of the original NGE (Hedgehog's dilema + the dilema of self acceptance), but once we enter the Rebuilds, specifically once Mari lands on shinji, his Loop starts to drift into another directon, suddenly his SDAT is broken...
The credits song "sakura nagashi" is such a beautiful parting song, the piano definetly aludes to shinji+kawouru, yet I've always seen it more fit for Gendo+Yui.
Addendum: Friendly reminder that you should definetly watch these, they are both short and really add up a lot of emotion to the story. I swear bro, how do you not cry in these reactions?

I did notice that your comments weren't making it through. It's weird cause I get the notification and can see the first sentence or two but then it's just not here. It's happening to a buncha people too so that's something.
I like how the rough plot points are still happening with an entirely different circumstance. It's like some sort of fate that these events gotta happen in some form. Kinda crazy with the whole time loop or whatever aspect that is going on.
Right, Lilin = Lilith I had forgotten about that. I remember roughly equating it to humanity in the og series. The recipe/ritual being the same is also nice for that worldbuilding consistency.
Corkscrew = black moon is pog. That makes perfect sense. I'm used to the moon being a sphere I guess lmao.
More fanservice always means more fun so that is nice.
I do need to read up on the Otaku interpretation of Evangelion. I'll likely deep delve into the lore once I finish the last movie. Shoutout to Kaworu like always for spitting bars about change and life and whatever. That comparison to Gendo/Yui in Shinji/Rei is kinda crazy too. They really both causing chaos to get their homegirl back. Like father like son.
Haha Mari breaking the cassette player is actually kinda great in a meta-way to say that "New character, new story baby" thats a fun way to look at it.

Honestly, if I wasn't recording I may have shed a few tears in the OG series and EoE. Mostly this series makes my soul hurt rather than my emotions I guess haha. I'll check out those vids as well thanks for letting me know!
Just watched the two videos. That music got me messed up for real. Those manga shots are crazy. Asuka pullin out the duct tape is something special for real. It would've been cool to see them talking about Shinji like that in the movies.

look closely... all the core blocks have what look to be eva-01 shoulder limiters on them. that's not natural- which means they were made. now- who happens to have lots of spare eva parts lying around, and also wants wille gone?~
if you look closely- all the propulsion(minus chemical rockets- they're ol' reliable and have higher thrust to weight) is now AT-field based!
also on that note- that N2 reactor on the Wunder has those shoulder pads too... and boy does it look like one of those core blocks... but it's also clearly not! perhaps N2 and S2 engines are similar?
now that you know about the curse of the eva... care to guess why mari has a bunch of old 70's songs memorized?(there's so little info on her, any guess might be valid...)
notice how you can see inside the failures of infinity- they are 100% core. It's suggested by some that they are humans who got prematurely third-impacted, right at ground zero, and remade into god's (shinji as his psyche aligned with eva-01's) image, with cores (the fruit of life). of course, because it ended early, they were never complete- so there are now incomplete humans-turned-eva all over the place.
The spears are likely living things! They have metamorphic properties, appear to be alive, and somewhat capable of playing their own part in the story- as adam, though the rightful progenitor of life on earth, was the only one with a spear in his possession. supposedly the spear took initiative and locked him down as assurance that only one of the two would rule. that's just the original series though. In several parts of both series, you can hear them make sounds not unlike an eva.
the black moon(that thing NERV headquarters was always inside of and made up the geofront) seems to have been multiple concentric spheres, the outer one destroyed in the (near) third impact... but now the thing inside the moon looks like the core of an apple. A previously eaten fruit... perhaps a certain counterpart to a fruit of life. (the spirograph appearance makes it look like it's being sucked into itself- I personally think it alludes to the mass being used to create LCL, the primordial soup of life, suggesting our "core" is our brain, what emerged as a result of evolutionary processes, the "fruit of knowledge's gift"... this also lines up with the failures of infinity being headless, and therefore, not gods, as they have only a core, no brain.)
Ahhh it would be crazy if father is throwing out the threats that Asuka and Mari are fighting at the beginning. Though it would make sense given that he does, like you're saying, have a buncha eva parts around.
I do really like how the technology has progressed in these 14 years to the point that they've used the AT-fields as fuel. It's like humanity's way of conquering the natural world.
Hmmm Mari really is a wild card. Those 70 songs could foreshadow or represent that she has been curse of eva'd for a long while. It's hard to get a read on her considering that she isn't in the OG series.
The infinity incomplete eva people are terrifying and do look like some sort of ritual gone wrong kinda deal (which would make sense considering Kaworu spearing Shinji at the end of 2.0).
I hadn't considered that the spears could be living. Honestly, yeah. They have anti-AT field properties (which the AT field seems to stem from living things), and they are all shifty like you're saying. I never noticed them making EVA-like sounds but will listen in on that and see how similar they sound.
Oooh the black moon looking like the core of an apple is spicy. It being all eaten away, with only its core left is a great physical metaphor. The connection of a humans core being their brain is interesting as well. It's like how all the angels have their red orb core things and humanity, being similar angels in some ways, have one of their own.

Haha. There are some good things about the rebuild, and as an OG fan the promise of seeing a full conclusion to the series is too hard to resist, but for me, ultimately, the rebuild as a whole is an incoherent mess that certainly doesn’t work as a movie series on its own and really, in my opinion, fails as an addition to the original series as well.
I would agree that the original series, especially with EoE, is better/more coherent. It is fun to see all the angels and Evas in high animation high-resolution scenes, but yeah the deep psychological stuff is missing in some areas for sure. This movie series feels like a fever dream mostly lol

What a mess; with good battle scenes, action combat, explosions and no character development of no one; I mean, as a movie it should be good at stablish who is Kaworu, but it doesn't, it just trust in the people who already watched the original series to remember he's an angel and that's why he become the last angel.
Also why no one explains the things to Shinji, why do they even tried to salvage him from the Unit 01 is they are so despictul towards him. It just to create a motivation on him to join Nerv instead, a forced argument of the script. They even blame him about the Third Impact, but the Third Impact was stopped, so why they do that.
These are questions not about the plotline (like "what the hell is going on right now?"), these are question exclusive about the plot writing, and that is bad, because Hideaki Anno is the creator of Evangelion, plot writting should be gold.
That's why, even when I felt awesomeness on this epic crazy movie, I don't like it. :(

Because originally the fourth movie it was gonna be released the same year with only months of diference between them, even one of the character (in 3.0) mentions the final plot of the fourth movie. But frankly alot of fans we don't even cared about the last movie; many of us were upset so we only wished it ends quickly. And after 9 years of delays we get another mess, kinda even more awful, but who cares... at least is the end of the Rebuilds saga.
BTW, those crazy landscape concepts are so Gainax; FLCL and Gurren Laggan have a lot of those.
Yeah you speak some facts for sure. A lot of the characters (Misato, Asuka mostly) act uncharactisticly hostile/secretive around Shinji. I guess you could chalk it up to the 14 years but it does feel like some weird writing at times for sure. I'm mostly enjoying the high quality animation and some of the really nice shots/backgrounds rather than the story itself (which is unfortunate but is what it is)
