trucks: Navistar electric cab and chassis A new electric cab and chassis from Navistar can cost between $260,000 and $300,000, which is three times more than the average price of a diesel truck, which is around $90,000.
I am thinking long term being the most pragmatic. Still too many problems with rare earth metals and Lithium mining and processing to meet objectives in a genuinely green fashion. Let the experiments and R&D continue but never ever substitute one pollution for another without a full understanding and payment for the products. We only hear about substituting but too little about reducing for moderation. The people that got us in the mess are ready to harvest a new crop without accommodating the new negative consequences. Audit everything and audit the auditor, and that auditor and that auditor, etc.
I want to know how well the trailer is going to hold up against truckstop drivers and fork lift operators. Being that neither one gives 2 craps about your trailer.
It still has too much of a dependents on fuel. Lets be real about what is going on here. We haven't had need for the carbon combustion engine for 75 years. We've had electric and solar power available for years. But the powers that be do everything they can to prevent it from being easy access for the average citizens to get. General Motors had affordable electric cars for sale in 2002. The Oil industry paid the dealership to get rid of those cars. Only 40 out of 16,000 of those cars were saved from being destroyed. Lots of rich and influential people bought them.
There is nothing wrong with combustion engines, we do not have anything close to a functional electrical grid that would work for all the automobiles in the us
@@MegaGoocherand that's just to power these vehicles, not to mention the fact that we do not have large enough facilities to dispose of the millions of toxic batteries once EV vehicles are the only option.
@michaeldupree2642 as a temporary solution this is viable, but as a long term solution these electric vehicles will cause more damage to the environment significantly more than combustion engines have done or will do. Not to mention the damage it's already causing just to mine the resources needed to make these vehicles.
We will be relying on oil and gas for another 200 yrs, there is no transferring to electric and solar, there is only integrating it into the mix,our infrastructure won't support EVs for at least 50 yrs
Supertruck isn't a product. Its a technology test bed. That goes for all of the Supertruck projects- Navistar, Paccar, Volvo, Freightliner- contributing improvements are integrated into near-future truck product.
Como se llama la canción de fondo?

Hybrid makes so much more sense than trying to go full electric for the near future

There's already a company that already does retro fits for hybrids on paccar trucks.
Are those birds edited in?

That's all well and good. BUT..., you have to talk dollars to make sense. If it is not economically viable, it is going nowhere.
