I think the actual intention was probably (actual spoilers) - - - - - - - - - -To hide Nuwa's actual death at the end of the game, since it's the inverse of what happened in the original game. Yakumo originally sacrificed himself to save Nuwa. Nuwa now sacrifices herself to protect Yakumo.
