long-time kbo fan here. his contact skills and eye will definitely help with the mariners strikeout issue and him playing cf most of the time wont really matter because he had lots of experience as a right fielder. my only concern is that he might not be able to handle the pressure from adjusting to mlb, especially since he might have a similar first year to ha seong kim, as he was always elite in the kbo, but he managed to do great in his rookie season despite pressure from the fact that his dad happened to be one of the greatest players in kbo history. his dad played for my favorite kbo team so it would be great to see him play for my favorite mlb team :)
Lee adores Ichiro. That's why he wears #51. Let Ichiro study Lee's video tapes before making a decision to offer Lee a big contract. For me, the M's need a big bat to protect Julio. How about signing JD Martinez? He's old (36), but he had a fantastic year with the Dodgers this past season.
What has been very quiet - no one even considering it - Mike Trout wants out of LA. I don't think they can command a huge return because MT has not been healthy. We could use him in a corner outfield but give him relief by DH'ing him a ton. That might help his health and see him put in a full season.
Trout is definitely an interesting name floating around but I really don’t see the fit for the Mariners unfortunately. It’s a nice thought but the injury history and contract are big detractors
After graduating from high school, he signed with team Kiwoom played in all games in the first year, 178 hits, and won the Rookie of the Year title that year. The difference in velocity between high school and the pro league is very big, but he adapted right away because he had good skills and eyes. One thing that makes him anxious is whether he will adapt to the MLB speed, which is faster than that of the KBO, but I think he will adapt quickly.
I know batting average isn't every thing...but it's something! If you look at a lot of the M's box scores, when they have 10 or more hits, they typically win the game. Just sayin. Small ball gave the Ms 116 wins.
yea '01 had a high average (#2) high obp (#1) team, slugging wasn't even top 5 and homeruns were well below league average, that's what u need at t-mobile
And running speed. If righties aren't clocking the ball past the fences as much, then they need to be able to turn on the jets and get the most out of wall-dingers.
Jung Hoo Lee would be great fit if we could get him on on contract like kikuchi with maybe 3 years that we could opt out of if he doesnt perform well. Love his defense contact skills, and K/BB ratio although he has limited HR power
The contract is the part I am most unsure about. I think he will definitely set the record for largest contract for a KBO guy but how big it will be is yet to be seen, figures aren’t really out on Lee yet
I prefer Bellinger only because he's a proven MLB hitter. Bellinger and Jung-Hoo Lee are my 1-a and 1-b for our OF spot. On top of that, though, we need a DH too. If we don't land Ohtani, I'd like JD Martinez, Justin Turner, or Jorge Soler. Hell, if we want a 2022 Carlos Sanata -esque veteran, I'd be happy to even bring in Jason Heyward.
This guy looks like he could be Ichiro 2.0. If so, Seattle is where he belongs. Gaaawd I would love for us to get another really consistent contact hitter!
I’m likening Lee’s skill set to Crawford’s this year and I would hardly call that dead. I think different tools play differently in certain parks and Jung-Hoo Lee has shown bat to ball skills that wouldn’t be park dependent
Looking his swing and the parks shown here, I sense a Cirillo Effect possibility here. T-Mobile vs the parks he's been playing in might lead to disappointment on all sides.
@@usveteran9893 this video was about Lee, not Julio. Besides, until Julio shows signs that he isn't a gold glove center fielder, no one will supplant him there
I am korean His dad is my favorite team's Legend His dad is all star in 2006 Wbc SS And jeong hoo batting stat is better than Padres Ha seong Kim in KBO
Why would he want to come here? Our team sucks. He'll be a Dodger, or a Yankee, or heck, even sign with the *Athletics* before even pondering the idea of coming here.
Anybody notice that he wears #51? Coincidence, or is he a big Ichiro fan? I know hes Korean and Ichiro is Japanese, but i wonder if hes a big enough fan boy to value working with Ich every day more than an extra $5 million
I think the Mariners should sign Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Sonny Gray. I know that may sound like a dumb move since the Mariners already got a lot of great pitchers but I feel like a lot of our pitchers while good are still and inexperienced and a guy like Sonny Gray could take some of the pressure off of Luis Castillo. Plus I think he would be a steal. Also I think having a guy like Sonny Gray on the Mariners would give the Mariners a lot to work with at the 2024 trade deadline. I would also sign Michael Conforto and Mike Moustakas, CJ Cron. I know they aren't the biggest names but I think they are good enough to fill in the gaps and again perhaps it will give the Mariners some more room to work with at the 2024 trade deadline. But then again maybe I'm just cheap like that. :P
is he any better than Marlowe who is under club control forever and just needs to work on hitting the off speed. Why do we have to alway gamble were not a small market team that has no revenue were just cheap. Boras is his rep too
Before he got hurt Kelenic was our most consistent bat. If he reins that temper in and keeps up the hitting, he's earned an extended look at the three-hole.
I think we should wait to see who wins the World Series. If the Rangers win the World Series, the Seattle Mariners will have to be the favorites to win the 2024 World Series since they took 3 out 4 from the Rangers.
I definitely like the idea of it but you know someone is going to overpay him and I don't want the Ms to throw a huge contract at another giant question mark
well just looking at his stats it looks to be a good gamble cuz he doesn't strikeout much. he will get KO'd more in MLB but he is so far below in Korean league that his KO avg would be below league avg in MLB. what the M's need is contact hitter that can put ball into play and he fits the bill for the M's
Give lee jung hoo a month to assimilate. New country, new environment, new team mates, injured last season. I think he will struggle in the first month of the season. But, he will get going. Jung Hoo Lee has a unique swing that it covers a lot of the strike zone. He can hit the ball out. But, he's satisfied with base hits. He wont hit .360 like in the KBO, but .300 is definitely possible. He has the potential to be the next Ichiro. Great outfielder, excellent hitter, smart player.
@@golfmaniac007 why the fuck would the sheer number of Koreans matter to him 🤣 "LA has 300k more Koreans than Seattle, clearly it's a better place to play baseball" delusional lmao
Grandson of the Wind. What a cool nickname.

If Mr. Lee will be signed by the Mariners, it will be one of the best decisions by Jerry.

Mike Trout would never come to Seattle he doesn’t like the organization in general and I believe he isn’t a Dipoto fan.

I doubt Trout would come here simply because of how much we've yelled at him in Tmobile through his career lmao

“A little holes”? They got more holes than Swiss cheese
Just melt the cheese and the holes go away
You also have to keep in mind that Seattle is a ballpark where hitters come to die. It is a pitchers ballpark and not a hitters park.
