Death is permanent and irreversible, yet it is part of a larger cycle, the symphony of nature. But we humans struggle to see anything but sadness in death, not knowing that there is truly a greater picture-- one, ironically, of life and joy-- if only we are open to seeing it.
I've dealt with death myself before-- I lost two classmates on two separate occasions as a 10- and 11-year-old. They remind me of little Bastien: innocent and wonderful people who passed before their time. And it is so, so hard to move on.
It's just as valid to celebrate life as it is to mourn its brevity. To allow ourselves to feel. And that's what Tux and Fanny, I imagine, are doing right now.
