- For the remaining survivors of the D-Day invasion, some now in their 90s, this has been a week for one final reunion. And as Mark Phillips explains, for one D-Day veteran it's taken him 70 years to finally confront a ghost from his past.
This man's wound may never heal..but his legacy will live on forever.Respect
TheDude I never went to the military. But I fly my flag every day to let them know I love them for what they did went to Germany. Went to a cemetery where many lay in peace saw general Patton’s grave. I shake veterans. Hands when I see them god bless them all living and dead🇺🇸
TheDude I love all my military people when I look at. Veterans. Of the wars it makes me sit alone and cry O yes my flag flies every day of the year thank you love you from bottom of my heart🇺🇸
My grandfather was there that day. 101st Airborne, "Screaming Eagles." His chute malfunctioned and he hit the ground hard, breaking both of his ankles. He still rose to his feet and did his duty as a soldier, fighting through the pain. He went on to serve in Korea and Vietnam as well, with over 30 years as a soldier. He's the greatest man I ever knew. We don't need more comic books or movies about superheroes, we need to tell more stories about the regular, ordinary, everyday men who answered the call and decided that they were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. Duty, honor, country. That's what it's all about.
I miss you Papa, hope you're partying and throwing back drinks in Valhalla.
My grandfather served in the wehrmacht from 36 till 44, did 51 missions. he is a hero
My Great Grandfather also went to WW2, but he was in one of the worst units that had some of the most casualties in the war. I forgot what it was called though.
What an amazing man! Greetings from a Dutchwoman living in the UK.
Ian Booton 🇺🇸 god rest his soul
My ancestor fought in the British army during the American Revolution
I wish to join the military not to be a hero, but to continue the legacy of these amazing veterans.
i hope i see along side by me soon Brother
+BroaderHen 539 me too
they fought against evil not for it.
so don't talk about Thier legacy, cuz they are heros, you on the other hand are not, sir.
um maybe that's why we want to join, to hold and maintain their Legacy and not let it down by one bit, we know the fought against evil, they were normal people like us who just got the call for duty to defend America, doing one small thing can lead to a bigger action and maybe we don't want to be heroes (i personally don't) or maybe not but everyone that enlist or doing some courageous things in life are heroes....my definition of it
Itzthepandarealtor The Germans during world war two weren't evil they were following orders
Man i feel nostalgic about things only a few years back. Imagine this soldier's nostalgia recounting days from 70 years back and that too remembering all his friends he lost in the war.

My friends.... My fellow comrades....
*PTSD*
On a serious note:
I salute all those who served in the war, ally or axis, they did their duty for their motherlands, I respect that.
I teared up when he was standing in the cemetery... my brother's a marine. Anyone in the military can have this happen to them. It's a shame we live in a world where some people love and breed hate that builds up to the point of war.. And then there are some who despise fighting a war with a burning passion. There are only a few of them though. They are the people who have mustered up the courage to fight and stop the war. They are heroes... Sadly, I can't be one of them do to medical issues that happened a few years back, but I still have hope that the military will never fail to protect us citizens of their country. Thank you if you took your time to read this and God bless!
TW0F4C3D God bless you as well my brother 🙏
Bless your heart
God bless you, I can't be a fighter in my country's military too due to medical issues, but I will serve my country in a way I can.
God bless u all good people ,unfortunately we are living in a world where the worse people start war and inevitably the good brave people have to engage in the war to finish it ,this happens repeatedly as if the nature wants the sacrifice of the good Holly heroes, what a pity ,may the martyrs rest in peace ,Amen
From a Marine brat ,semper fi to your brother
my grandpa was 18 when he went to D-Day.. just passed away 2 years ago, weird how we didn't have alot of family.. but that day, they're was hundred's of people. R.I.P
Adrian Marley yea my great grandpa was 18 when he went in WW1 and we was also in WW2 and he was born in 1916 and he sadly died in 2013 and was 97 almost 98 so i is still very hard to watch these videos bc i was very close to him and wish he was still here R.I.P and thanks for your sevice men and women
***** lol, I still know people that are still alive. And we're in ww2. So please ,have some respect
VespinKnot, you know WW1 started in 1914 and ended in 1918... Your great grandpa must have been the youngest soldier to ever be in combat at the age of 1 or 2
liler
Goku Black Bless all these great men🇺🇸
Massive respect to American WW2 veterans from England 🇬🇧

That mans a real hero
Lil Yung Boii rt

9 people thumbed down ????
They should be severely ashamed of themselves.
They need to be put in Guantanamo bay
Now is the time for all good men to come to the aide of their country
They are probably nazis lol
Survivors guilt. My Great Uncle faught in WWII and he and only one other guy from his platoon survived a battle in the Pacific, he always thought of himself as a coward for surviving, but in reality he was a hero. It's a shame he passed on before I was born.
Hi Max, how are you? I appreciate that your family member served during World War II. I was wondering if you would know your Great Uncle’s platoon name because I have a friend that said his Great Grandfather served in World War II and was one of the two that was still alive in his Platoon in the Pacific. (I think I’m terribly sorry if I am mistaken)
Max Renauldo god bless his soul. I pray for every one in this world🙏
My husband’s step-grandfather was lucky enough to be evacuated from Dunkirk. I wish I could have met him and been able to ask if he could tell me about it.
Max Renauldo I love you guys to the bottom of my heart. I always go up to a veteran. And shake their hands strange sometimes I feel. Like I was with them I was born in1955 but I feel like I was with them and I look out. My bed room window looking at gods creations My god bless these guys both living and dead 🧒🏾🇺🇸
Same with my father in law. He never talks much about what happened. He told his wife "I don't know how he survives and his buddies didn't and able to come home and many did not. He served in 3rd infantry 7th regiment under Gen. Patton. He always cries when he heard the tap. He passed away at 84 in 2003
He sees and feels what happened 70 years ago. It made me cry.
God bless their souls.
For heaven awaits, they have served their time in hell....
thank u for your service
feet Go back to school
hands
Oh stop it and quit making them be about you.
as a 15yr old my dream is to also once jump out of an c47 Dakota to commemorate the soldiers that have died to keep my grand parents alive and to honor all the soldiers that have fought in ww2 allies and axis. may god rest the souls of the heroes that have laid there graves beneath us.
Old war horse and old war bird!! That was the perfect description. Just the respect that was shown. I can’t imagine what he felt seeing his friend there all those years later. All I can say is thank you all for your sacrifice and service!
I can't imagine what this man felt when he got on board the same plane that he jumped out of over Normandy 70 years prior. This whole thing is simply amazing.
This man and other like him truly were the "greatest generation."
It will be so sad when the last of these veterans go. These heroes won’t be able to pass on there stories anymore
God bless both of them.
Thank you for your service when they talk of legends you are one
war is hell...for all...and it's always in your head...
Such young boys, still. Thank you for saving many countries.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE, SIR. My family was liberated in May 45, living in Utrecht, the Netherlands. My parents and grandparents often talked about their liberators, and how sad they were that so many died. WE LOVE YOU.
My great grandfather was in WW2. He was in the infantry and he has a bronze star and a Purple Heart. To this day I wish I could’ve asked home more when he died in 2014. I still look up to these men who gave their lives for us. Just a couple days ago I was working at a church fish fry and a WW2 veteran was there. And I thanked him for his service. (This is what made me tear up). He said he would be glad to serve our country again. Thank you to all the veterans who served us and gave our lives for us. ❤️
brings a tear to my eye
Thank you for your service!
Bless you all ! Thank you !
Sir, thank you .
This guy is at least 90 and he looks so good, moves so well and has such a sharp mind. Amazing !

I wish I could have seen my great great uncle one more time he was 96 years old and he was one of the heroic men that stormed the beaches of Normandy. Love you Uncle John rip
Excellent capture of history of Airborne crew!
"Perhaps now I can set it aside and go on without it, but I doubt it" truer words have never been spoken.
It makes me cry seeing someone that fought for my country. It’s amazing that someone would go out of their way to protect their country like this

01:04: Well, his voice sure sounds younger than his age.
You can tell it still haunts him, the way he answered the reporter was very short. He was brushing him off. "Does it make you feel better to finally close that chapter?" "Yea... Sure..."
Just one of thousands of fascinating stories .I tip my hat to all of them.
Thank You for your Services. God bless Amerika
When i was in airborne school with some 82nd guys they made it clear what an hour it was to to even be in the same breath as these guys true heros and true warriors

My grandpa was part of the forces that landed in Normandy. Wasn't until a few years ago I learned that and on my mom's side her mom's cousin was killed on the Oklahoma in Pearl Harbor. Learning these brings how your family was part of history.
Beautiful.
Thank you Grandpa for storming the beaches to protect our freedom! I will never understand the magnitude of how you felt during and after the beaches and what it did to you physically, mentally and emotionally. . . But thank you grandpa for being there to protect our freedoms we enjoy today. . . ❤️🇺🇸
your freedom wasnt threatend by europe you were the invaders no war has ever been fought on your soil
@@irmaaugustinovic6180 Good words. Respect for all soldiers, but for us they were invaders.
Greetings from Italy
There's a reason they are known as the Greatest Generation.
My Husband Was There On The Battleship USS. Nevada PROUD!
Debemos tanto a tan pocos. ....gracias. 👍
very precious capture of these decorated veterans re-visiting what were history changing days for them and our country's future, so glad they were provided the opportunity...even if it was subsidized by the media to experience in a time of peace where they were directed to fight on those days of the initial landings. many thanks to all Allied service members from here for your service and bravery during those days.
When he said but I doubt it that tore me to the gut God bless this man many blessings bestow upon him for all the hardship he endured I had to witness a burn in at Fort McClellan years ago and it was one of the hardest things I've ever seen in my life. To this day I still see that boy's face God bless anyone who picks up a rifle to defend their country regardless of who they are.
"Final mission", that gave me tears... );
My dad went back to the Lord 2 years ago. He was 95. He was part of the Bomber Group out of Adak, Alaska attacking Japan. He was shot down over Russia and was interned. Russia was a neutral county in our fight with Japan. Not too many still around from WW2. they will live in honor for all eternity.
Prayers
God bless those hero’s ❤️
W7, D-Day and an American Paratrooper. Just one story in the field of 1000's. May you all do well.
I respect everyone who served and died for our country at any time in history. I want to be in the Navy, and not to become known as a hero or anything like that, but to honor these amazing men.

"...but I doubt it," says everything
If it wasn´t for 1st battalion 16th infantry regiment iron rangers, and 1st infantry division, I would´t even exist today. My grandmother would have been annihilated in concentration camp like the rest of my relatives. I owe these men my life. Thank you for your service troops! And thank you to the 45th president and the people of USA. Love from Gothenburg, Sweden, 🇸🇪❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
God bless America

Nobody can thank these men enough for what they did!...My father was wounded 2 times...1st shot in the leg and 2nd he got shell shock and shrapnel wounds all over his back and he woke up 2 days later below deck (he was in the Navy). To this day the Navy refuses to recognize this even with all the documentation and wont give him a purple heart!
