When you are older you will have some fantastic memories of your adventures to look back on. I am sure you are quite an novelty to the police. Not too many foriegns, especially women, do what you are doing. Keep safe keep smiling
Lol, yes it is true the experiences I have had around the world are already so special to me, it is why I love and continue to travel the way I do. Even the police escorts, as annoying as they are, have had me laughing at times. Just in the moment it can be very tiring. Definitely not many women traveling on bike at all here, I certainly felt I was a spectacle any time I rolled up to a checkpoint on my bike 😂 But having a great time, despite the small setbacks. Thanks Judith!!! 🥰
This is supposed to be a positive thing , this measure is taken by the police to secure tourists throughout rural areas where it is needed. they are exerting the effort to keep tourists safe from any danger or getting lost if GPS connection is not available.
I get that it's supposed to be a good thing, but when you don't want to be followed and the police are hitting on you, it is not a good thing. I have offline maps so if my GPS stopped working I would still be fine. I doubt there is any danger, I convinced the police let me go one day without the escort and they allowed it, if it was so dangerous why would they do that? Every local I met along the way was helpful and kind. Same all over Egypt. Every time I managed to get rid of the escorts I enjoyed my time much more and not once was afraid of the locals
@@Gventures I agree with you , this is over protection if you don't like it . They over reacted when they follow you and tell each other along the way . I guess they should give this attention to egyptians who need it ..
Nobody anywhere I went in Egypt seemed to understand ‘Ana mish ayza’ when I was there either - ha ha! Very amusing video - especially when you told them off! Great stuff! I wouldn’t try this with the Turkish police here, though!
Lol. Yeah I wouldn't try this most places, but after weeks of interacting with them I was slowly beginning to see they wouldn't do much if I refused to listen, so I tried this. There were many times when I asked what would happen if I just left without waiting for their police escorts to arrive, and they didn't seem to have an answer. I asked if I would be arrested (stuck my wrists out) and when I realized they wouldn't arrest me I decided to try it sometime. That was the day 😅
There is a definite element of the theatrical about it all! I think you were the most exciting thing to happen for them that day. You have been so patient for so long but sometimes it just is really stressful.
😆Yes my patience has just worn so thin 😆
Have a wonderful time
Gisselle you are gutsy. I enjoy your videos. Safe travels.
😅Thank you!
Stay Blessed 👊🏿
Your fight with the military guys was admirable 😅 💪🏽
🤣🤷♀️ I was just so fed up with it at this point, after weeks of dealing with it.
He said "blease, blease", and you still didn't want to wait in the shade. :D
Stopped way too many times on that trip
So sorry for most of the troublesome you had, and totally appreciate how you wanted to just be left alone…
Well, my understanding from this video is that they were trying to escort you and provide some security for an area know previously to have some troubles in the past with touristic insecurity.
As this is quite unusual for simple police officer in Egypt to find a solo foreign traveller on a motorbike, they were a bit confused about how to deal with it.
Again I totally appreciate how anyone in your position would love to be left alone, but I wish you would accept the apologies based on the fact that those guys are doing so to try to protect tourists despite the fact that they are slightly confused because of the unique situation.
I wish you a splendid and safe stay in Pharaoh’s land 🌹🌹🌹
Thank you, but I actually had been dealing with them for weeks at this point. This video is part 9. Also other travelers have experienced this, there are many videos about solo travelers trying to cross the country alone and being escorted.

Very well said ;)
Look at the glass as half full, they didn't force you to stop filming as they usually do with tourists filming them😂 this is progression for the Egyptian Police😂. I really know this is annoying but you have to consider that when something bad happens to any tourist in Egypt it really affects tourism to Egypt like if u know the story of an Italian tourist who died in Egypt (of course may God save you). Have a safe trip❤
Also Egypt is surrounded by unstable countries Libya, Sudan, Israel&Palestine however Egypt is really safe but it isn't like Europe
Yeah man, for sure I am grateful for what I have and that I am in Egypt and able to do this at all. I've also been trying to keep a positive attitude for weeks as I deal with this, but I am only human and have so much patience. I don't think they even noticed that I was filming most of the time during my many encounters with the police, that is why I think they didn't ask me to stop recording. And I get that bad publicity and bad things happening to a tourist will damage the image and therefore tourism in Egypt, but considering how many tourists come here each year, there are few terrible stories like the one from the Italian student 7 years ago. Many solo and independent travelers can and do trips like this and are fine and I really don't think this escort was necessary for me. But I appreciate your input and I am having a great time, regardless of the endless escorts 😄
Great video ! Rights Crispy sent me
Thank you
Awesome, thank you for watching!

Hey Gisselle......
Loved the video, couldn't stop watching !!
It seems the Egyptian police haven't lost their innate and polite curiosity with foreigners, since I was there decades ago. I drove all thru the country, and whenever I encountered a checkpoint, and there were many back then, it always seemed to strike me as they just wanted to talk to someone who was not from their part of the world. Always friendly to a fault IMHO. Many a time I ended up having tea and chatting in my basic level Arabic (like yours) or even in English, which seemed pretty common in the more densely populated areas. It slowed me down, and was somewhat of a pain as you are experiencing, but, it's the Egyptian way. Bribed my way thru a desert checkpoint at 300 AM when I was not supposed to be there, with a bottle of Canadian whisky and a German porno magazine one time.....LOL !!
🤣 That's hilarious, what memories! You are right, the majority of them have been polite and genuinely curious. And I have to say, for the most part, I've been very polite and friendly with them on this trip of several weeks, joking with them at checkpoints, etc. Most of the other videos I have made about this trip you can see me perhaps a little impatient, but always friendly and laughing. This day I was just particularly tired of them and in no mood to be interacting with them and their shenanigans again, and I was also curious to see what they would do if I just drove off, because I was tempted to do so many times on the trip after getting the feeling they wouldn't do much, so I tested it out. I asked them a few times at various checkpoints "What will you do if I don't wait?" (for my police escort). "Are you going to arrest me?" and put my wrists out like they were going to handcuff me. They always laughed, I laughed, and I would sit there waiting for my escort to arrive. But after going out of my way to avoid them and taking this detour this day and them still finding me anyway, I was tired. But you're right, they are generally very friendly and kind and mean well, and I try to be courteous in return. I actually have had a lot of laughs with them, joking around and such. Had a whole checkpoint roaring in laughter when I was trying to sing a popular Egyptian song while waiting for my escort to arrive one day. Akhuwetee...! 🤣
WOW!!! Tu si eres valiente! Standing up to them the way you did, you're my hero! I mean it's gotta be difficult to ride with a pair of giant titanium balls let alone with these thugs following you. Please please please be careful 'manita, I chewed all my nails on this one.
🤣🤣titanium balls 🤣🤣Gracias Finn, it's all good, I am careful and slowly pushing limits to see what they will allow 😅 Too bad they just won't leave me alone when I tell them I want to drive alone
@@Gventures I'm with Finn you told them where to go like you had every right to do....Good on you.
@@Gventures keep pushing limits and you will learn to regret it like so many other foreigners who thought they were cute. You are lucky they are not as brutal as the police in your country and probably lucky they don't understand that you are swearing at them. Have some respect or F -off
You have more security than POTUS.😂 I'd be freaking irritated also. Still a cool video.
🤣 Thanks man
I am most impressed in how you handled the police and didn't take their shit. I've been stopped at checkpoints in my drivers car just the two of us on the way to Abydos and we waited there for some 40 min for an police escort car. It wastes time but the driver explained that the locals aren't used to foreigners and also the police are responsible should anything happen to you cos then its all over the world news and negatively impacts tourism.
Yeah, I know the negative impacts it could have on the country and tourism, IF something bad were to happen. I mean, I understand the purpose, but I think it is very overboard how they insist on escorting foreigners around like a child. Police babysitters 🙄 They have better things to do than follow me around, I went on a SOLO motorbike trip because I want to be alone, so having an escort blaring their sirens as I pass through villages, telling locals not to talk to me, and following my every move is EXTREMELY ANNOYING. There should be a paper one can sign that says "I refuse the escort and should anything happen to me it is of my own will and let it be on my head" or something like that. I met a 40 year old French man on this trip who was cycling across Egypt who was also being followed my police, he was very annoyed. I know a couple in Alexandria who have been living there for TWENTY YEARS who went on a road trip to Beni Suef in their car, and they were escorted. It's just ridiculous. I want to meet and mingle with the locals, make stops to use the bathroom, eat, have a tea, take photos, just whatever! And when the police are following you, the locals are scared to talk to you. You can't just stop and pee in the desert because the police are right there. You feel rushed and like you can't stop and do anything with an escort. So I really hated it. Thankfully, I managed to ditch them by leaving early morning from my hotel, or losing them in traffic in the villages and cities (me on motorbike, I can escape through traffic 🤣) Oh well, it is what it is, anyway.
Egypt; the largest oasis in the world
you handled them like a boss 👌no "random" Egyptian can do that at all because we sadly don't know the sequences and it may be horrible!
I normally would never have done this either, but after being followed by them for weeks and having multiple interactions with them every day, I started to realize they would not do much to me....because I told them again and again on my way down to Abu Simbel I did not want to be followed, but I had no choice and was forced to have an escort. I asked them a few times (with a laugh and a smile-to lighten the mood) what would happen if I did not listen to them, jokingly putting my wrists out as if asking "will I be arrested?", and they never really gave me a response when I did that other than shaking their heads and laughing, so I started thinking "they probably won't do anything if I ignore their instructions..." This day (in the video) I decided to really test it out, and my heart was racing wondering if I was getting myself into big trouble when I just drove away 😆But as I hoped, they did not follow me or do anything! Even I was shocked (but very happy too 🤣)
That being said, I know the treatment of Egyptians is far different than that of foreigners, and it would be a very bad idea to do this for fear of the consequences from the police. I think the police were afraid to do anything to me because of my nationality and the consequences, so they tried to avoid any issues with me. But if I wasn't a foreigner, they also would never have been following me in the first place, which is the only thing I wanted, to travel solo without the police following me around, slowing me down, flirting with me.
@@Gventures I would like to suggest for you to see an egyptian movie titled ( Asal Iswed or black honey عسل أسود ) Actor Ahmed Helmy about egyptian american who arrived to his home land Egypt , and the different treatment as egyptian and as american . Kind of black comedy ..
In Egypt you will not often be told why they are detaining you, but your husband if learned should be able to tell you the basic ins and out to stay out of trouble. What I can say is Egypt is unique to the Middle East. Stay safe and enjoy.
Uh....this is common practice with all foreigners traveling across the country. My bf's education has nothing to do with it, and he couldn't help me here. It's a specifically foreign problem that I am dealing with by being escorted, they would never do this to an Egyptian, so there is no advice my bf can give me. But I do stay safe, thanks!
Why do you always have a nervous laughter LMAO?
It's how I laugh, not my problem you think it sounds nervous.
They do this with every tourist, wit me also, it’s to protect us
I was happy they took a short cut to Qena
Yeah I know they do this with everyone. I really dislike it
@@Gventures I understand, but the road accidents are a huge problem there with truck’s enz with escort it’s a bit more safe .
@@LouisaH864 I rode from Alexandria to Abu Simbel and had no issues with vehicles of any kind, I also drive in Cairo. The reasons I was hearing for them escorting me was something related to terrorism. At one point on my journey a police officer demanded my number so he could check on me and make sure I arrived safely to my destination. He ended up texting me unprofessional and inappropriate things. I don't need or want a police escort, I am fine, and better off, driving alone.
Man I really feel bad for the police. They know they are following dumb orders and were simply not ready for you xD
😅 I know, the majority of them were nice, it just got so tiring after multiple checkpoints day after day after day, slowing me down, making me wait, and this day on my return journey I just completely lost my patience. And...I kind of wanted to see what would happen 🤣 I didn't think they would arrest me right away or I wouldn't have done this, but I was a bit scared disobeying them so directly. Then they didn't follow me and I was thinking "oh shit, I should have done this sooner" 😆 The escorts were truly annoying, I know they were just doing their jobs. But they tried to keep the locals away from on different days as they were escorting me. They would blare their sirens and have their lights flashing while driving through small towns, drawing unnecessary and unwanted attention to me. Sometimes I would stop off and grab a snack or eat at a local little place and mingle with the locals, or use the bathroom, and having a police escort made that a lot harder, so I tried to ditch them as often as possible. Plus them constantly driving ahead of me sucked, their vehicle was kicking up rocks that would hit me, their vehicle was blocking my view of the road, it just wasn't pleasant many times. But I know they were just following orders and I hope I didn't get any of them into trouble by ditching them
I like your vedious
I'm from Yemen and I believe whatever is happening in the video by the cops is for your own safety although it's annoying.. the authority is trying their best to avoid any incident that may happen to you during your trip by the road hijackers, interrupters or even terrorists, as the region is suffering of instability. regardless the negativities from some of the cops.. stay safe
Yeah, I get it. Thanks so much!
@@Gventures you're most welcome and I hope to see you visiting Socotra island in Yemen..you will definitely love it there if you like camping, adventure, exploring and hiking. Peace
@@mahmoudbinothman9759 Ahh, I would love to visit Socotra! Ever since Eva Zu Beck drew it to my attention I have wanted to visit. You are form Socotra in Yemen?
@@Gventuresthat’s cool, I’m actually from the region called Hadramout in Yemen as well, you can google it if you would like to know it more, but I live in UAE.. I suggested Socotra bc it’s the most eligible and safest place to visit in Yemen for the time being.. hopefully soon you can visit the whole country which you will definitely love.
Although I understand the police have a job to do & absolutely appreciate them wanting to keep tourists/foreigners safe, it’s entirely gross to take someone’s information & start sending unsolicited flirting texts.
What a hassle!! I hope you’re able to travel safely & without so much hassle getting home (if you haven’t already made it 😉)
Yes, that was overstepping all the bounds, 100% agree. Thankfully, it's easy to just block a number, but the act made me feel a bit incredulous. My bf was certainly not pleased upon hearing it either 😅
Why you didn't stop for police when they asked you to stop ?
You should read the texts in the video because I answer this question in the video.
Girl you ARE brave. Filming the cops and their ways. I got detained at Cairo airport on my way to Luxor after they found a miniature camera in my luggage that I sometimes pinned to my shirt to record around Giza and keep my hands free. The officer in his own words said "big problem'. They reviewed all what was on the SD card and then let me go. Nearly missed my flight. Definitely not doing that again.
Well, honestly, I wasn't SECRETLY recording them, it wasn't a "spy cam" like the one you are describing that you had. It was blatantly obvious, a GoPro sticking outside the side of my helmet. They should have noticed it. I was recording my journey, it wasn't like I rocked up to some secret military base and tried to film, I was just riding and recording my trip and they got in my way and on cam 😅 But of course, having a RUclips channel and living in Egypt for 2.5 years now, I have been stopped by the police in certain areas for filming, and they want to review my footage, which I freely let them do. I am not a journalist filming sensitive topics or anything like that, just recording my travels, and they were able to see that. I've never been made to delete anything, they just view my footage and tell me to have a good day 😆
Fantastic video ,
The police and the scammers are the worst in Egypt they annoy many tourists
Every where this is their work ..also there is war in sudan now..!!
and what about your country?
Welcom moroco
i think the Egyptian government has a yearly budget just for following you everywhere :D
🤣
😂😂😂😂😂
Is there any places of restriction to drive motorcycle in Egypt roads ?
Ahaha, no no, not that I'm aware of! But wait....to drive through Sinai I have heard you do need some special kind of permit...I want to do that in the future and I heard I need permission. But outside of Sinai, no I don't think there are any restrictions with a motorcycle
Super Video
I'm thinking of hiring a car for my journey from Cairo to Luxor and back, but do the constant police checkpoints make it impractical?
Thanks for your awesome videos Gisselle!
If you don't mind the escorts, the car does give you a lot more freedom to get around. I would still do it. Just know you will deal with the checkpoints. But if that doesn't bother you, I say go for it. And also, as long as you feel comfortable driving in Egyptian traffic. Cairo is the most chaotic, the roads in between are easy, especially if you take the desert road. Luxor is a smaller city, so less busy than Cairo. But of course, it is still Egyptian traffic 😅
@Gventures Thanks for the advice Gisselle. Yours is definitely the best YT channel for Egypt advice!
I was leaning towards hiring a car anyway, for the freedom of movement and freedom from taxi drivers haha, but your comment has persuaded me to hire a car. Thank you

Congrats..So you have figured out how to get Egyptians to back off. You have to lose it on them and then they just back off. Been there and done that. Tiring. Hence I haven't been back in 8 yrs. I miss it but dealing with the pushiness even if well intentioned was fricking exhausting. It is like that in other countries in the Middle East as well...stay strong hon!
Oh I've known from pretty much day one how to get pushy people to back off if I need them to, but it's either just not on camera or I felt like being nice. I've not had the easiest life and learned a lot at quite a young age, so I know how to be aggressive and firm and have for many years.

Imagine ignoring the police like this in the US 😀
Imagine the US being Egypt 🤣 Completely different countries of course. I tested out my limits with the police here in Egypt over several weeks as I rode my motorcycle north to south and then back north again. In the beginning I was very nervous, polite, obedient. Over time, and with the dozens of police interactions and escorts I was having every day, I discovered they will not do much, but they do push the police escorts onto a solo traveler. As my impatience grew I decided to see what they would do. And here we are with this video. Apparently not much. An Egyptian also commented something similar to "Imagine doing this to the Egyptian police as an Egyptian." which I can tell you would not end well. Foreigners are treated differently here (it's f-ed but the truth). At the same time, if I was Egyptian traveling across the country like this, they would have just left me alone and I wouldn't have had these interactions in the first place. As I am a foreigner, they were required to escort me.
You are awesome mashallah
Where they trying to protect you? Maybe ish?
Well yes of course they were, I think that's been mentioned quite a few times in the comments. But as I have responded many times, there should be a way for a foreigner to refuse an escort, if they do not want it. Maybe sign a document or something saying "If anything bad happens to me, be it on my head and Egypt is not responsible," or something like that. This is episode #9 of an even longer series of episodes and events. And I will say, being followed day after day, week after week, ALL DAY, wears you down. They want to know where you are going, where you are staying, constant questions even when I went out of my hotel to go ride around for a little while just WITHIN a city. And traveling between cities is the biggest nuisance, waiting in the hot sun at each checkpoint for another escort to follow you to the next city, village, getting passed from one police group to the next (and checkpoints happen to be every few km), which makes your day incredibly long when you're already sitting on your motorcycle for 8-9 hour rides each day BEFORE the escorts slowing you down. Not to mention I want to stop when I want without police sitting there watching me, scaring the locals away, waiting for me to go to the bathroom, it's like having a f-in babysitter. And then of course there is the fact that some (not all, but some) of these police officers were extremely inappropriate, saying things they shouldn't, demanding my phone number so they could "check on me and make sure I arrived safely to the next city" and then inappropriately messaging me things the next morning that had nothing to do with "being safe." Aside from ALL of that, I don't think Egypt is unsafe. I managed to ditch the police quite a few times, and I never had a problem. I have met and spoken to many other like-minded people who have done similar things in Egypt, and we all felt the same. We felt safe on our own, we were in fact safe on our own, and yet were still forced to have an escort.
Man you are so brave💪.. This people are the worst.👹.. I Never Go anywhere because of them 😰🙌
Dang man, sorry to hear that. I just had enough that day
Although, I understand your position and how frustrating it can be but when one goes to another country one has to follow their rules and regulations and if a person doesn’t like it then it’s best one doesn’t go there. These guys are just doing their job however, if they are getting out of line by being inappropriate then yes it’s important to speak up., however I still commend you because your courageous driving in some arid places by yourself
Thanks Tammylovesmakeup, I do try and respect the rules of any country I visit. I am an avid traveler having been to over 20 countries, I love local life, authentic experiences and learning about (and respecting) the culture in any country I visit, and I have been living in Egypt almost 2 years now. I always do follow the rules and regulations of Egypt, but after several weeks of dealing with the police and having multiple interactions every day over those 2 weeks, I began to realize they would probably not do anything to me if I drove away. I certainly did not do this my first day driving out of Cairo. If you read any of my other comments to dozens of other people saying the same thing as you, you will see that I completely do understand these police officers were just doing their job. At this point though, I had had enough, and you can't really say what you would have done in this position after this amount of time either, it's easier to judge from the other side of the screen. Long, hot, tiring days when your ass is sore and back is aching. Crowds of police men surging around you, talking quickly in Arabic, checkpoint after checkpoint after checkpoint, every 20 minutes (and I'm not exaggerating, the majority of my interactions with the police were never filmed because I honestly probably shouldn't have been filming the police at any time, but my GoPro was just recording when they drove up on me). Police flirting, asking for my number, sending inappropriate messages. You think I am going to spend any longer at another police checkpoint demanding to speak to a superior officer to file a complaint against an officer who I don't remember the name of or what he looks like? Not to mention Egypt also has a reputation for not doing much to these guys anyway. No, I just want to be on my way. I like living here, I respect the rules (so don't say it's best not to go there please, like I am walking around in a bikini in the middle of Cairo or something-I am typically very respectful and if you watch any of my other videos you would know that), and I will continue to live here. I am also not the first person to complain about or have these types of interactions with the police when it comes to traveling across the country solo in a private vehicle. It is unusual, but it happens, and any sane person goes a little bit crazy after so much of this.
Still, thanks for watching, and hope you have a good day
I appreciate your interest in filming police chases, but it's important to consider the potential risks and consequences of Driving a motorbike on highways with no service can be dangerous, and the police may have valid reasons for wanting to stop someone who is driving in a potentially hazardous manner. It's worth noting that the police's efforts to secure your safety reflect their commitment to keeping the public safe and ensuring that Egypt remains a safe and secure country. Please consider these factors in your future contents
This is part 9 of a series, maybe you should watch the other videos and you will see I "include in my content" the police efforts.
I get the police are just doing their jobs, but bottom line, it is annoying. With 8 hour long drives per day on a little 150cc, with the desert sun beating down on you while wearing a bunch of gear, being told you have to wait for a police car to come so it can escort you (unwantedly) for several kilometers before having to wait for the next police escort (change of jurisdiction, I assume) to come and continue the escort, over and over again it happens from village to village, for hours and hours as I attempt to make it to my destination unhindered. Some of the escorts will drive in front of me, blocking my view of the road ahead, rocks getting kicked up from their car and hitting my helmet. I even had an officer demand I give him my number once so he could check on me and ensure I arrived safely to my next destination. He ended up texting me flower emojis, saying I was beautiful, and a message saying "Good morning" the next day. I of course ignored them all, but it's just 🙄 so annoying. Most of them have been respectful, they never ask for money (people have been asking me if the police are asking me for money/bribes, but they never do), they are just obeying the orders of their superior officers to keep us foreigners "safe", but regardless of the purpose or good intent of the escorts, I really dislike them and being followed everywhere as I try to explore and enjoy my "solo" trip.
We love the videos and admire her bravery. This is older and maybe by now she has figured out that this happens based in their culture. She is a woman on a motorbike through dangerous areas in dangerous driving situations. Something happens, it is all over the world news.
Ayzein el rokhas, you asked what? He answered Daraja Nariya hahahahah 😅
Daraja Nariya is the standard arabic for motocycle the common Egyptian word for motorcycle
Egyptian dialect is a way much more easier than standard Arabic, but forgive himhe is trying all languages he knows 😅
If the tourist feels not free, he/she will leave the country and never comes back. We need advanced methods to secure tourists without harassment.
Well, I guess not everyone. I didn't like being escorted around as I tried to travel solo on my motorcycle, but I didn't leave Egypt because of it. Still here 😅
@@Gventures I don't consider you a typical/stereotype tourist.........lol
Egypt has tourism potential and a large and diverse selection of touristic attractions much more than tourist attraction countries such as Spain or Turkey...But Turkey, for example, does have a good system and enough experience in how to deal with tourists. I think that tourism income in Turkey exceeds 40 billion dollars annually, while tourism income in Egypt is less than 14 billion dollars.

And they are trying to help you . And this road is dangerous
No it's not. I left them and rode it alone, no problem, didn't I? If you want an explanation as to why I'm impatient, you can read my responses to other comments, or you can watch the series from the beginning when I left from Cairo ruclips.net/video/bxlb_SEie2I/видео.html and spent several weeks riding across Egypt dealing with escorts all along the way.
@Gventures thanks for writing all of this . The road is really dangerous . I am Egyptian and I know it . There are many road cuters and criminals there
@@ElEzzTube Where do you live in Egypt? I've been living in Egypt for 2.5 years and traveled across the country. on motorbike with no issues. I guess we can just agree to disagree. I've had many Egyptians tell me certain areas are dangerous, then I find out they've never even been to those areas, and when I've gone to certain places people "warn" me about, I find the people there are very friendly and kind. Considering the police did not follow me after I drove away in this video, I guess they didn't think it was TOO dangerous, because they let me go alone. It's just a rule to "escort" foreigners around if they are driving in their own vehicle, in case you didn't know. They do this all over Egypt, not just on this particular road.
How much was the bike and what is the requirements to rent one ? Thanks a lot for the video
I bought my motorcycle here in Egypt. No idea where to rent one or what documents you would need.
The police in Egypt use their sirens as a way to order other road users to give them and you the priority, unfortunately this is their way, they don't have the same culture in the west that police siren spreads sensation of panic and danger
I am so sorry the police keeps following you, it's very annoying, you're probably safer without them tbh lol
They are indeed annoying 🤣 Even if they were just doing their jobs and doing what they were commanded to do, it's extremely irritating and frustrating to be followed around by a bunch of police babysitters 😆
I love your video! You are so brave. Do you think they follow you just because you are a beautiful American woman? I feel sorry for you just trying to travel around. Keep going lady!
Haha, thanks man! Ah, no they follow all foreigners around that are traveling in their own vehicle (like bicycle, car or motorbike). I met a French guy in his 40's who was solo cycling across Egypt and he also had an escort. And also a German guy in his 20's who was cycling across Egypt as well and was constantly followed. They state it is for our "safety" but man is it a pain in the ass, for multiple reasons
@@Gventures i still think your good looks has something to do with it. Your very pretty!
@@dridemoto Aha, thanks. But they really do this with every tourist traveling this way

How many times an Egyptian police member asks you to show your riding licence?!!
Someone should tell them that is not normal in any developed country! We only asked to show licence when only we clearly did something illegal!

I recommend you to visit algeria or ghe maghreb region in general. U will be astonished by how different the landscape is. From deserts and oasis in the south of the country to the cold and snow top huge mountains up north. I am originally from somalia but lived in algeria for 2 years back in 2015. Algerian people are truly one of a kind. They will make you feel like your one of their own.
That's great. I live in Egypt, and I have a few places I am already planning to visit outside of the country, but eventually I think it would be nice to visit Algeria.
hi i think if you use the train or plane to move between cities better than the motorcycle and more safe ..any way i love your videos ❤❤❤
I love riding my bike and glad I took this trip! Completely changes the experience depending on the mode of transportation. No regrets on taking the bike out, but yeah of course a train or plane would have been easier. But less interesting too 😄Thanks for watching bu!
Ihate manshester camel is better luv the trip safe princess ☀️🎷
The police do not want to harass you but they want to secure you and they think that will make you happy so please don’t be angry 💐
No, I told them I didn't want to be followed many times over this several week long trip, they don't listen. And they do harass me because one of the police officers along this trip demanded my phone number to "make sure I safely arrived to my destination" but then was calling me for no reason and the texted me on Whatsapp a flower emoji and saying things like "you are beautiful" so I will be angry

I just returned from Egypt 🇪🇬 nearly two days ago and I noticed this! And, then they also wanted some sort of payment from me for doing their job…
Still didn’t take away from my experience, just left me smh
Were you traveling alone..? I haven't usually seen police escorts happen unless the person is traveling alone across large distances in their own vehicle. I've also never been asked for money, which is nice. They literally were just doing their jobs, but it's unwanted and slows me down, it's a pain in the ass, etc.
@@Gventures I was on private tour and when my driver would get stopped they would ask a few questions of me. But, it was okay and I just said Shukran and my driver handled the situations

i cab tell you somethings: - can you imagine how difficult to be an Egyptian living all your live with this mentality. 2- from experience the policemen are cursing in their mind saying 'shit shit ! we have to doe all this work for a single person!! welcome in north Korea of middle east
I can only imagine, but yeah. My friends and my bf are Egyptian, so while I am a foreigner, I have heard.
I know they are just doing their jobs and what they are told, I don't imagine they love it either. So we both hate it, perhaps.
I wouldn't call Egypt the North Korea of the Middle East, there are certainly worse places to be. But yeah, I get your point anyway.
I am very sorry if something happened from the Egyptian police that disturbed you. Unfortunately, this is what made Egypt a tourist country in the first place and did not get it right because of the actions of some people in the police. The world is in Marsa Matrouh, it has therapeutic waters like one Siwa, it has safari, and it has three types of deserts, white sand, black and mountainous, it has Sinai, the land of turquoise, it has the first oldest church, and it has Mount Moses, on which God revealed Islamic, Jewish and Christian history. Egypt is different from any country in the world, it needs Omar because You discover it, and very few know Egypt. I hope that God will grant you success, and believe me, I loved you very much, even though I don't know you, but you have a charisma, God willing.
They should teach the police how to speak at least basic English. Disgusting
Where are you from

Me? I'll tell you who was uncivil, the cop who demanded I give him my number so he could "make sure I arrived safely" and then started texting me things like "you are beautiful"
Stop making videos like this comparing Egypt's police to other places because you simply ignorant about politics there. I suggest you try to fit in and act like women do in the Middle East and I promise you will not be followed around. When in Rome do as the Romans.
Lol, are you high? I never once compare the police in Egypt to the police in any other country, you only have to use your ears and will hear that. Fit it with the women in Egypt and I won't be followed? Try doing some research before opening your mouth with such ignorant statements:

Your oblivious comments clearly show that you've never been to Egypt or simply don't understand their overall attitude against western women. I promise you, if she "tries to fit in and act like women do in the Middle East" she would still be stuck on that road being followed by tens of bored policeman, all the while getting even more unwanted advances.
You must file a case against him. These people abuse my country. He should go to jail
I have no idea who it was that messaged me, because actually several of the officers took my number on this trip at different points, but most of them did actually just call to see if I arrived safely to my destination. One guy did not, I blocked the number, have no idea anymore.
I understand how the police want to keep you safe, but you are not doing stupid shit, or causing trouble, or fucking with people in bad ways, you just wanted to take a simple road trip. If you feel something is not right you will not do whatever that is. It's pretty fucking simple :D.
Exactly. Gettin a lotta slack for this but for real it gets old and any solo traveler who has done something similar here in Egypt gets it. Thanks man 😎
