I love how when you click on your unit, since it's accelerated, the soldiers sound like minions in Despicable Me
Yeah but it's a bit disturbing...
They needed to serve someone in the second ww
@@teraschnitzelxd_5731Wasn’t their lore that they serve the biggest evil?
So France is the biggest evil?
when moving fleets, it sounds so cute lmao
@@teraschnitzelxd_5731 they didnt serve anyone in ww2, the creators said that they hid during it
Bro just deleted his aircraft carrier for 6k manpower 💀
Imagine the sailors on one of the grandest ships of the French fleet just to be told by high command the ship is being scuttled and they’re all being sent to the frontlines
@@erikweltz8187 Actualy it apened during ww1 in 1914 were 6500 britons sailors were send in belgium (they were not suposed to hold), they left after 1 month of combats and a big ratio given to the germans.
After all this Hoi4 be like:
43% war participation (UK lost a million men like an idiot so now you have to share)
Except not because they reworked warscore in bba
Casualties don't effect war score that much in bba
Thanks for this, always found it kinda weird there's no big guides on winning as historical France
The safest way to play is just fort line every fucking thing and shit out infantry and air. The funniest way to play is to shit out light tanks and get army xp by volunteers in Spain via intervention.
@@OnlyGrafting another fun method is rushing communism and waiting for the Republicans to get dumpstered to declare and annex all of Spain
Ya before the only good place to get a good idea of what to do is from playing historical multiplayer and watching what other people do, which is not necessary possible for very bad or new players and people who play single player
I would imagine not many people play France in MP
@@OnlyGraftingjust watch out I didi that and Germany paradropped and I so focused on the frontline by the time I realised 2/3 of my country was gone
I literally did your exact strategy, and I was surprised at how well it worked. Then I looked looked at the Alps... I turned around my 3 tanks and quick deployed 3 more to hold the river, and then I cut off the the Germans and Italians West of the Rhone River. I swear if I didn't have those tanks, I wouldn't have a Desktop. And VIVA LA FRANCE ACHIEVEMENT!
France USA flag, that glory USA doesn't exist anymore
You know the tank template is godlike when all you need is less then 10 divisions
Gameplay aside, I find this alternate history timeline so funny. Like who knows what the French will do to Germany now. "How many times do I have to teach you this lession, old man?!"
I can imagine the French being like, "What took you so long?" and the Allies just know this wasn't supposed to happen.
I love how swiftly the music went from WW1 to Napoleon as you fought desperately at first but eventually liberated the benelux
There is something you can do called a support attack where you attack the tile without walking into it by control and the right clicking on the enemy division. (Edit: For it to work you need to click on the enemy division itself, you can't click on the tile it is in, you need to click within the rectangle and you will support attack every troop on that tile.) It is helpful so you don't need to keep manually stopping the battles and so you don't need to keep pulling back after you win a battle which is what you were doing with your tanks in the start of the war.
Thanks i knew this existed but didn't know how to do it 😀
@@dS0_same
Amazing.
Only took me 8 years to figure this out now 😂
One thing about quick deploying all those infantry divisions: you will lose equipment to attrition while training them up to level 2, whereas if you don't quick deploy them and let them train normally, they will start at level 2 without costing you extra equipment
so the key takeaway is:
1. delete all units
2. rush industry and military and forget politics
3. make tanks
4. kill
did i get it right?
Yep, with some details here and there
Why delete units
@@Ali-tz5xc consolidate manpower equipment, that’s just for the start

Title: "How to defend France alone"
Video: joins Allies
lol, lmao even
Bro did dunkirk backwards💀💀
You should have shown you templates, especially the tank ones. Maybe I missed it somewhere, but I'm really curious to see them. Are they like 10 tanks, 9 motorized and 1 AA? Those tanks literally didn't care about anything, they didn't get pierced and were able to win the battles even having red bubbles sometimes.
in hoi4 videos you can see the divisions layout when they hover their mouse over it. hard sometimes but when they are microing battles its often easy to spot. tank designs would have to be shown separately.
1:37 the alarm sound had me dying
Saw someone pull this off in an MP game, it was hilarious
Is it the one I'm thinking of 💀

Rare footage of france not being dogpiled on in every hoi4 game
Why not right side of the democracy tree? It lets you rush tools 3 and 4 and concentrated 3 (better for tanks and holding mainland France)
@@davimacohin7792 it’s still the historical path
@@Wow_btw technically if you’re going super historical and paying attention to the details then you should go left since the SFIO won the general elections in 1936. The right-wing conservative parties would not win any elections nor would their leaders be in power between 36 and the capitulation in 40
@@Wow_btw The truest historical path is to fail miserably in 1940. You need to change some things up to fix France enough to defeat Germany, so "historical" France victories pretty much encompass either Laval or Blum, as far as I'm concerned.
Yesterday I did a France run and very effectively held off the Germans with another fort wall and infantry-tank hybrid units to hold areas that were starting to break, they ended up bleeding so much manpower and equipment on me that they refused to declare war on the Soviets lol
Also annihilated the Italian navy and supply lines with what was mostly boats you get from the start of the game, I just spammed destroyers to fill in screens and scout units that would occasionally die, didn't lose a single boat that wasn't a destroyer or sub
The garrison fort tatic is genius, this will help me so much for any France playthrough, thank you
one of the best hoi4 timelaps videos
With his minion units Gru jumped 4 years ahead into from 1940 straight into 1944 and liberated Europe couple of years earlier
I just love to see that „You win that battle“ at a war
I play as France in Historical without Italy or Germany even having the balls to attempt to attack. Immediately queue up level 10 forts across the entirety of Belgium’s border (they finish by time Germany attacks), grab all the generals and field marshals with the highest defense, choose the defensive focus, and build a 20 width pure infantry division with engineer and maybe artillery support company. Draw a fallback line across the entire frontline (Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany), choose a lane doctrine that gives you entrenchment bonuses, and just sit there. Tested in multiple times and they just don’t even move. U.K and US eventually flood the frontline and start attacking and you overwhelm them eventually
The madman, he just didnt surrender at the first day and look, a victory.
Would’ve loved to see those tank designs, what were they?
(Personally use light speedy infantry focused tanks, if encountering a heavy tank, defend,
Eventually any opponent won’t have enough men to man the tanks (or any infantry, and the rest is usually easy), in multiplayer, a fully defensive tank may be needed
Giving full focus to air and such
I like when u click on unit or navy, it makes funniiiii noises xD
Regarding the low supply areas. The enemy doesn't have supply problems there. In north savoy italy gets supply from turin, you get it from lyon. If you build a supply hub in the area you can hold those mountains easy. The reason the AI typically is able to push in the area into france is that itally has high supply and france has low when the french line starts breaking the italians have the offensive maneuver advantage and will be attackign unentrenched disorganized units in average terrain rather than entrenched organized supplied units in mountain terrain.
My very soul started shaking and crying when he deleted the carrier for 6k manpower
nice vid tho.

can you show your tank design and template please
I'll probably make a video about tank desings and templates

play from france is not worse than playing from italy nice tutorial
17:36 wow what a turn of events 😂
Awesome video man! Great watch! Going to try this today. I need to get better at microing I rely too much on just front line attacks
don't devalue the franc, its way better to ignore that tree and remove disjointed government + do the industry tree down to the focus that gives 4 civs and 4 mils + do the military tree all the way to the bottom
Also I wouldn't make tanks, it's way easier to stack the front with an ungodly amount of inf + arty + AA
"My Führer... Steiner..."
"Steiner couldn't defeat the French forces."
_Pause_
"Steiner's invasion of France was an order!"
My strategy is what I call, hold the line... with armour...
I simply hardem my divisions by distribuiting one or two heavy infantry tanks on each of them and, well, simply hold the line, no forts required. They'll keep attacking you with no avail. 2 years later, your now veteran divisions can just walk in.
Special Military Operation Moment
For me, everytime when I play France I always speed run the focus tree to get rid of disjointed government and the victors of great war. These 2 debuffs hurt bad. I never went for devalue the Francs because of the stability issue. If you're playing France, stability is everything. Anything below 50% is considered to be dangerous.
I play a very similar strategy but I also like playing the little entente and usually deny the Sudetenland, although it actually doesn't give the option to accept it since Czechoslovakia is usually in the faction at that point, I think I fail because I don't know good tank design for the situation and I think it's not helping that he didn't show his design or template in the video
@@Finn_the_Cat I did the little entente run too a while ago. What you want to do, is rush fighter 2s and start producing them asap. When Germany declares war on Czechoslovakia, move your existing fighter air group into Czechoslovakia and and put them on interception. Don't put them on air superiority as germany will rip them apart into pieces. After that, wait for the Italians to join the war and immediately rush Italy. When Italy cap, start focusing on germany on 2 fronts.
@royalwolf7115 I'm guessing the fighter 2s are the basic airframe, and I did rush the basic fighters when I played recently I think it was the poor design as it didn't trade well especially since I was playing on the summer patch
@@Finn_the_Cat It's not basic airframe. Fighter 2s are the advanced airframe. Basic airframes are the fighter 1. For air tech, you have the interwar airframe (never produce these unless you're going for REALLY early war or just want them to be on interception), the basic airframe which is available in 1937/38 or something, then there's the advanced airframe that's available in 1940. If you have By Blood Alone DLC, then what you do for the fighter design is to add heavy machine guns, armour plate, and if you have extra rubber, add in self-sealing fuel tanks. The design is a bit expensive, but you can dogfight most of the planes and still win.
If you play the little entente path, you start producing fighter 1s (1938 tech, not the interwar for the love of god) asap because by the time the Fate of Czechoslovakia happens, you will have a decent size airforce to compete with Germany. Of course given the fact that Germany can send air volunteers to Spain, you will lose more planes than Germany but it's still enough to compete for air supremacy if you focus on one zone at a time.
Also, what's the summer patch?
@royalwolf7115 the basic airframe can be researched at the start of the game its 1936 tech just fyi and the summer patch is an update to the game that you can opt into as an early view of what will happen with the new dlc. It has a much different basis for air with excess thrust giving agility and agility supposedly being more important than before. Also survivability studies cannot be researched until 1939 on this patch but Ill just play on the current game patch and take your advice
I did that thing it coled defend france and that was my first time but I didn't build forts or back up like you did I start the war first and that was before the UK want me to be his friend or alliance and it worked me and shecoslovakia occupied germany I was were happy because after defeat germany I attacked the USSR me and my alliance the uk and maby all countries in Europe attacked the USSR and became I was a noob😅 that time that was pain because I do every thing hard attack and coup allot of coup but finally after a lot of pain I did it me and my alliance occupied the USSR t ( that was my story when I play as france in the first time😊)
You don't even have to give Geramny any tiles, just build level 5 forts (do retreat a bit in the Italian front, though). Your supply will be slightly worse in the German front but it'll still work out. Also, it's not as complicated as he makes it seem, and if you know the naval mechanics, focus your fleet on the Mediterranean to crush the Italian fleet in order to help the British AI.
This time, we didn't surrender.
i tried this strategy and it works, the German can't even move advance, same with Italy. they tried to attack within Switzerland same thing happen.
Found your videos by chance, I enjoy playing France so much because of the many debuffs which force us to focus.
You made some quite interesting moves here, hadn't tried this order. I'll try not to rush defensive strategems and develop industries first. Spanish war also is great.
Maybe you could emphasize in the end of your games what templates or staff or officer corps that mad a difference this time?
Looking forward to your next French games with some optimizations 🙂

does anyone know why the germans are just... better?
it isnt because of production, because then why do the soviet troops suck so much?
