My mom worked for Walt beginning before Snow White through WW2 and retired after 44 years with Disney.
The immediate staff used to often have lunch with Walt at the Tam 'O Shanter near the studio and it's all still there.
Even the menu is the same.
He was amazing go her tales.

I was in gym class in college when the sad news came down about Walt. The girl next to me , through tears, said she thought he couldn't die. As sad as I was, I had to smile at her thinking he was above death. But all these years later I realize she was right. Walt Disney does still live on in every child's smile ( that includes parents and grandparents too cause everyone becomes a child when it comes to anything Disney). The world of wonder.

Something most people don't realize is that Walt knew much hardship, failure, and tragedy in his life. That knowledge made him realize that people needed reminding that even with all the terrible things that life throws at you, that there are equal amounts of beauty, wonder and adventure in this world as well. Sometimes, people need to see that magic to pick them up from a dark place. The ultimate expression of filling that need was the Disney parks. You can't help but get misty-eyed reading the dedication to Disneyland. He knew you needed it, and even said "This land is YOUR land." I don't know anyone else who has brought more happiness and joy into this world than Walt Disney. He is probably the foremost person who you could say this world is a better place for him having been here. Thanks, Walt. Especially for Pirates and Haunted Mansion! :)

A very great heartfelt tribute to Walt who touched so many of us thru out the yrs! For me it was every Saturday nite on a small B/W TV watching great adventures & wonderful characters each week & to inspire while entertaining us all as kids! Then Davy Crockett Zorro Swamp Fox & so many more great tales to watch & follow ,but the best part was we got to see Walt himself doing the preview of each episode each week! May he RIP & I am very thankful to Walt as he taught me to use my imagination & it's ok to have dreams!

Thank you for showing us this. Truly walking in Walt's footsteps - showing us his boyhood home, the site of his first studio in CA and the school named after him, not to mention the original Main Street U.S.A! I had no idea Walt drew his inspiration for Disneyland's Main Street from that. Walt passed 5 years before I was born, but like so many people I was raised on Disney movies and TV such as 'Disney's Wonderful World'. Walt would be proud of you for showing us his life's landmarks. Thanks for posting this!

Rarely do I see someone who truly loves Walter Elias Disney as much as I do. He was born just a few years before my grandpa on the same day. He was truly a visionary, a legend and has made himself a part of the family. He was more than just a man who created a park. It all started with a mouse. A pen, a paper and a dream made a man a legacy like very few others could claim. I like to think he is smiling down on us always there to remind us that there’s a great big beautiful tomorrow shining at the end of every day. Thank you for this awesome video.

Walt Disney has played a huge part in my life, from the extra magic he gave to me as a child, my fascination with the man himself and the stories my Dad used to tell me. As a child in the 30's and 40's, he would go to the cinema and wait for a Disney short to be played or a feature length to do the rounds and how the roof would be raised in the theatre by people cheering and whistling with joy.
I sat on my Dad's lap when I was six years old and watched the news bulletin of the opening of Walt Disney World, I was captured, I needed to go there. Sadly money was tight and then when we were able to afford to go my Dad was too ill to be able to do the long haul flight. On my first visit to WDW, I savoured every single minute to be able to tell my Dad of this wonderful place.
One cold February Sunday morning, we sat chatting about WDW and he said if he could get the all clear to travel he'd come back with me. I was thrilled and began planning in my head the easiest way to get him there, which airport, airline etc. Three days later my Dad passed away and we never got to share our time in WDW. One thing I am thankful for though is the time I spent with my Dad, watching Disney movies, shorts and tv specials and sharing my videos and pics. Even though my Dad didn't get to visit, I feel very close to him when I'm in WDW.
Thank you Walt Disney for the countless hours of fun and magic and thank you Justin for letting us share your experiences too.

I know this is an older post but my wife & I just saw it. Justin this was some of your best work! Walt Disney has been my hero for as long as I can remember also. I did a term paper in the 8th grade and it opened my eyes to the man, not just the creator of Disneyland. By the end of this video both my wife & I were sobbing! Walt has to be the most underappreciated man in history, as you said, the world would be a very different place today if it weren't for him. Thank you for such a wonderful tribute! RIP Walt

Walt was amazing for his imagination and his ability to inspire others to share it and bring it into being. As a wee kidling, he inspired me to take my prized possession, a Big Chief Indian drawing tablet, to sketch and draw constantly. I learned years later that Walt had had the same brand of drawing tablet as a boy from a favorite aunt that began as his first great outlet for his wonderfully developing imagination. Keep being inspired, Justin.
