There is something that always bugged me. Why they never made a stand alone Poison Ivy Movie. I think if they make it as dark as Joker people would pay money to see it in theaters I know I would find a way to
Lmao people will forget this movie by this time next year.
You're so fucking bad at this. You should let smarter people do this,
The alternate endings sounded more interesting than the actual ending
Just wait until they actually build off of this movie
I'm so glad that The Batman is in it's own universe.
The Batman is next to get destroyed.

Very zen. Good point.
Tbh that’s what matters the most
If Todd didn't want to do the sequel then he should have given this property to another well established director. Todd got his 200 mil budget ,but threw his whole reputation down the toilet while getting paid for his anti fan vision.
I’m still flummoxed how the Road Trip and Hangover guy got The Joker job in the first place 😂
@@MyLibertyTV Good at pitching? I think it was his script or story (that he borrowed from other movies).
He got inspired from the dumb and dumber directors of got last season ....
The joker movie was a ghost writer

Extremely selfish and petty move on his part
He was doing hangover movies before this, Joker 2 was just a return to form
This movie pissed off everyone. Fans of the first who didn’t expect to witness their favorite character’s humiliation, occasional viewers who never saw a musical coming. Even Gaga’s fans who watched it just for her but didn’t find most scenes from the trailers. Bravo, Todd.
His 'killing joke'. I loved it!
Exactly!!! You put it into words perfectly.
I was all of the above.
Enjoyed the first movie, did not expect the breaking-into-a-song every 15 min.
Not a gaga fan, though I did expect to see her specific scenes from the trailer, that looked awesome.
I was triple-disappointed.
I know it’s my own fault for being on X to begin with but the idiot Incels blaming Gaga for this movie’s implosion are so effin stupid! They forget she already did a little musical called A Star is Born, which was a massive hit and won her an Oscar. This was Todd Philips’ fvck up (and Warner Bros. for indulging his ego.) Congrats to him for striving for two decades to get on an exclusive list of A+ directors, who can make any movie they want at any price they want, and blowing it all up making a movie everyone told him not to make. I hope Todd takes the head of Warner, Zaslav, down with him too. I’ve never seen a more incompetent studio head than Zaslav.
Not everyone. It didn't piss me off :).
This film actually makes the first film worse in my opinion. Kinda like going back and rewatching Game of Thrones season 1 knowing full well that it all turns to crap takes a lot of the enjoyment out of it.
Soon we’re gonna sweep joker 2 under the rug and focus on really good dc stuff like penguin and the Batman 2

Kind of ironic how a lot of fans are 'killing' this movie in the same way that Joker was killed...out of disappointment in what they expected him/the movie to be
i find it crazy too ! its almost desrispect, as always, to mental health, in society! he is intriguing but in the end of the day people proove arthurs point: they dont know how to develop empathy! he is a ill person not a trivial villan or superhero
@@aico564were talking about a man who killed his own mother and 5 other people. The first movie built and executed that whole narrative perfectly to build into the character of the joker but they just destroyed it and reverted back to nothing. Even worse than that, he fucking died

lol wow. Holy fuck u blew my mind. I can’t stop talking about how bad this movie is yet I seen it twice. What an angle.
@@aico564Because it shows lack of ability to think on director's part. That's why it gets the bomb it got
I really don’t think the sexual assault part of that scene was the deciding factor of not being Joker anymore I believe it’s the part afterwards where his friend his choked to death after trying to show his support for him is when he decides no more as he has a similar reaction to when his fans say the city is gonna burn after they save him he just runs as I believe he doesn’t want anyone to get hurt anymore or people who look up to him
I thought he was fighting tears as Gary testified. Pivotal scene, well acted. He seemed impervious to physical violence, so IMHO I agree 💯 it was GARY that "broke" Arthur.
i not only agree, but id also argue, theres a lot more going on, underneath the surface of the plot and not every scene is distinctly marked as a delusion, my point being, that about half of the relationship between arthur and lee is possibly not so much a shared delusion, but each one indulging in their own, the way, the film is edited heavily suggests that- the fact that momentum of the narrative grinds to a halt, when the more elaborate musical fantasy scenarios perk up and end as their own awkward vignettes, broken up by blackness, is also deliberate, i think. for anyone interested, ive had close to a week and two further viewings to mull it over in my head, a bit and the evidence for most of my theories (and thats all they really are) is pretty solid. im throwing this out there, because i feel this movie more subtly integrates the trick, of the first jokers ending. you can really pull off a trick like that, only once. those who think this movie kills any of the ambiguity, the ending of the original may have had for them, feel free, to address your issues and ill happily share my thoughts
No one is talking about the fact that Lee was completely sane the entire time and essentially raped a mentally ill person half way through the movie (Sex in prison is illegal, consent cannot be gained, plus hes insane and she's clearly grooming him).
Well it’s Charlie being Charlie, he interprets a scene and then says ‘they’ to make it a fact. There’s no indication of sexual assault in that scene, there was no blood on his underwear which you would assume there would be after what Charlie implied happened. I’ve been watching Charlie for years and he does this a lot. I don’t hate him for it, I just know when he’s doing his ‘filler conspiracy guess work’ on a video. 😂

Arthur had a chance to prove the iconic line of "Just one bad day" yet they decided not Instead we get Todd Phillips getting mad about people liking a character that we aren't supposed to like.Yet he used characters that we all liked that he didn't create and got mad at us for liking them. If you take out the Waynes, Harvey, and the idea of The Joker the first film doesn't succeed in the same way.
I think he wanted us to boo Arthur like the audience on the Morty show did when he confesses. Then why make it so that he shoots two of them in self-defense?
They should call this movie The Clown
100% ARTHUR THE CLOWN Perfect title. not a joker movie at all lol.
@@danwoods8195it would still be bad
@@VTWS no one said it wouldnt be bad. you can call a turd a rose but you can't change the smell.
Should have called it, “The Joke”
I feel like the SA from the guards should be something that makes him more angry at the world and entice his Joker persona. If they want to have him reverse-transformed back to Arthur at the end. It needs something that tuck at his heart string. Like, Gary could get violently assualted by the clown mobs, and Arthur starts to see what madness he's created, even unintentionally, almost kills the only person he ever cares about. Something like that would wake Arthur up to fight his Joker persona. More so than that random inmate dude who dies. And would also hammer home the point since the last movie that empathy can truly bring people back from darkness.
i think that was the point- watching it a second time, the viewing was more analytical and i noticed, the various points, at which people walked out, of the theatre. that put the criticism, that this movie hates its fanbase, into perspective, because the main issues were twofold, as i saw it- too many songs, for most of the audience and second, the notion that many believed, at different points of the narrative, that arthur would go full joker now, the assault scene audibly making some guy behind me actually say, now theyll get, what they fucking deserve....
i think its what the movie was getting at, especially as we were reminded, that arthur was sexually abused, as a child, not too long, before that. it was designed to be a scene, that not only (and id argue only in part, as if a rape wasnt enough already) broke arthur, but part of the audiences illusion, while others definitely felt betrayed, by the fact, that they were emotionally invested, until the final act. that however, suggests to me, that the narrative, that the movie exists only out of spite, is really only shown, in a couple of minutes, regards only a certain subset of toxic fans and arguably invests less screentime into them, than the first movie. its only my opinion, that while some may have found it pointless and dull from the beginning (i loved it more than the first, personally), i think the main issue and thus main reason for the discourse is really, that some people felt dumbstruck, by being played, for that long, despite the writing really having been on the wall, for most of the movies runtime. id also suggest, there is more going on underneath the reality of the narrative and not everything thats a delusion is distinctly marked as such, by playing out as an elaborate musical number. the trick of the first movies ending can only be pulled off once, thats why its more subtly interwoven here- im happy to explain my theories (and thats what they are, not gospel), with solid reasoning, to anyone interested
Yea I agree with that I don't get why being assaulted and abused again would make him stop being the Joker. If anything it would make him want to escape and take revenge on the guards when he was able to. Yes Arthur isn't comic book Joker and he's not a victimizer he's a victim but he got revenge on those who hurt him in the first film so I don't know why he wouldn't do it again. Logically after escaping the court house with his followers I don't get why he wouldn't just head directly after the guards at there homes. If Comic Joker was being raped or sexually assaulted he would have just laughed during it then pretended to pass out then bite one of the guards throats out or something then again comic book Joker would have already knew the guards might try to take revenge on him and he would have had a plan before hand to kill them if need be if they tried to assaulted him. Like stealing a pen or knife from the court house or something and using it to kill them all when he could. Anyway yes I agree if anything being assaulted would have pissed him off more and made him want revenge him wanting to give up his identity felt out of character.
@@boomstickcritique902 keep in mind though, its not only the rape (what a sentence) that breaks arthur, or rather makes him accept, that he was never in charge. garys testimony already showed the cracks, in his performance, he didnt find it funny anymore, when he saw the effect, he had on people- you could argue, that arthur, up until that point, was deluded enough, to think he made a positive change, ridding the city of its oppressors, he bought into his own hype, despite basically stumbling into this cult leader personality type role. he didnt get it and he paid, not just by his childhood trauma playing out (from the guards perspective, its probably regular procedure, arthur isnt anyone special to them), but by hurting and killing the few people, he actually likes and empathizes with.
@@fabianhammer2864 Your breakdown (I feel like I've seen you somewhere before lol) actually describes how I felt going into the movie, emotionally invested up until the final act. I went in specifically looking for negatives, only to really be surprised that there weren't as many as the overall consensus led me to believe there were. And while YES, it doesn't excuse that the execution of the movie and the real reason behind the self sabotage make it a significantly weaker installment which it definitely is, with a few tweaks the movie isn't as completely garbage as most thumbnails describe. Bad, maybe. Complete trash...I'm not entirely sure it is.
@@-441- thats fair, even if we disagree on overall quality, youve given your opinion, in a rational and more balanced manner, than most- regarding that, its very possible, youve seen me elsewhere, because the movie had the, what i believe to be intended effect on me and if nothing else, i wanted to spam the online discourse, with a different view, not only regarding the movie itself, but also, the response to it, without resorting to attacks and trying to explain my reasoning- more often than not, it leads to comments like im not gonna read all that, bro, because i like to occasionally indulge, while writing- the fact that some people proudly post their ignorance, in not even having seen and still shitting on it, does admittedly make discourse impossible sometimes, so id rather not respond, to such cases- im also disturbed by the fact, that its become the new trendy thing, to put out content, titled i watched x, so you dont have to- thats how critical thinking dies and the effect of that isnt just felt in the film industry- to finish on a more positive note, im glad, i read a rationally, different opinion and i dont buy, the common narrative, that this movie exists only out of spite. if you aspire to make art (and theres nothing wrong, with pure entertainment) you will challenge your audience and even if we disagree on overall quality, no one can deny, that the film does exactly that

They destroyed one of the best jokers
I still can't get over this was a passive aggressive knock to the fans. Why hate the people that make you the money and show up for your art? I can see if there was a huge number really tainting what you created, although it seemed it was a small sample size.
Same thing I thought of Alan Moore and him hating that fans liked Rorschach.
Out of all the outlandish explanations, claiming this was an attack on fans is the WILDEST ! How very imaginative!
I hear this a lot can you explain this please? I haven't seen the movie. How was it knocking it's fans?
@@terimckeown4595 it’s actually not wild. So the idea is that Todd *didnt* want to make Joker 2 but the studio and the fandom wanted another sequel. The theory is that the movie is meta commentary on the movie itself, with Harley representing the fans. Todd doesnt want to do the joker and joker doesnt want to be joker anymore. He abandons that persona and doesn’t like that the other joker dudes in the movie, his fans, like him. Harley represents the fans and at the end she doesn’t want to be with Joker anymore because he doesn’t want to *be* Joker anymore. Todd destroys the movie itself by destroying the character. Harley was disappointed. The fans (in real life) are disappointed. Todd was very disturbed that people actually related to Joker and thought it was crazy that men actually related to a loner character. That’s a whole other topic in and of itself. But essentially the whole thing was just meta commentary on the character and Todd shits on the fans by saying “You wanted another Joker. Here, let me destroy this character and his story and end a horrible character that you losers should have never related to.”

Such a shame Todd Phillips didn’t want to do no more Joker films and didn’t take this film seriously. I just hate the fact it was a big F U to the fans of the first movie. I thought it was an interesting take on the Joker even if he kept it with the ‘real’ Joker killing Arthur and Arthur making up Harley in his head. All of that would’ve been a unique spin on the character in a different universe and boom that would’ve been our sequel and no more after that. All the complains am hearing: - is people upset that the director didn't want to do it.
- people upset it didn't go the direction they wanted.
- people upset it was a musical.

They should have had the Joker break the fourth wall, walk over to her and take out Lady Gaga for real and film it. That would have made up for the musical crap.
This Joker would have fit very well with Rob Pattinson's Batman, IMHO, if the story was done right
Not every movie like this has to link up with other ones. The Robert pattinson Batman would absolutely annihilate arthur
In the first joker movie. Joker interacts with Bruce Wayne. Making the age gap visible.

Also, why did the judge allow Arthur Fleck to smoke in the court? That wouldn't have happened in any courtroom within the last eighty years, and since the judge referenced the judgment in the case of Jensen vs Superior Court, which in our world took place in 1984, then Joker's trial must have taken place in the 1980s or later.
I thought it was already established that it was early 80’s
The trial was around 1984. The first movie started in 1981. Joker was in prison for 2 years when the 2nd movie started.
Now we have two movies about any random clown and none to cover the origins of the joker.
That's the problem with flops: the money could have gone to give us a better movie.
Wished they would have webt with willem dafoe idea of him being an inposter joker.
A good title would be "Joker: 2 jokers"
I didn't hate this film; I didn't mind it, but I thought the ending would be way different. I thought it would be based more on how toxic their relationship was due to their shared madness. Like, they can't survive if they stay together, one will eventually kill the other. (I don't read the comics, but I'm pretty sure they didn't kill each other in those.)
But it doesn't sound great either way: Harley is furious that he rejected his Joker persona, so she kills him and takes over, but I feel viewers would've hated that ending. Or it's just Arthur getting better and falling in love, and then he finds out that not only does Harley lie about literally everything, but she is rich. They glossed over this a bit, but it was a huge deal in the first film. All the Joker supporters had placards saying 'kill the rich'. And then Bruce Wayne's parents are murdered directly afterward, and his mum gets her pearls ripped off! I can't remember the original reason they get murdered, I've seen so many different Batman versions now. But in the first Joker film, I think it's heavily implied they were targeted because they are obviously wealthy. So discovering the truth about Harley reignites the Joker in him, he remembers who he is, what he did, and how he sort of inspired a movement to get revenge against a certain sector of society that Harley actually belongs to. So he embraces the Joker persona and decides to kill her. But I think Gagas Harley was quite interesting so I'm not sure if audiences would've liked that either, it seems odd to bring in and build up a whole new character from an established universe to only have her be in the film for 33 minutes, then just kill her off.
But then that poses the problem, if they don't kill each other off and they can't live happily ever after (I mean they can't because they are both mental), then what DO they do? Like, what's the purpose of the shared madness? He casts off Joker because he is (possibly) assaulted in prison and then his friend gets murdered. And then he dies at the end by some random. Harley doesn't have anything to do with either of these two things. So... what's the point of the relationship??!??
Man wish to love to see that ending
All my friends hated Joker 2 and all I see are negative reviews but honestly, I liked the movie. Am I the only one who enjoyed it?
i liked it !
Yeah I agree. I completely understand why people are upset and I wanted to see the character continue. But I actually really enjoyed the movie and didn’t mind the music
I liked except for the ending (from the courthouse 💥 to the end)
I liked it too. I really don’t get the hate for this movie.
Already got our tickets to see it again. I thought it was brilliant.
The “real Joker” looks like Deputy Doofy
The guy who kills Arthur becomes the the future Heath Ledgers Jokers. Yes the movie itself was trash but the ending was incredible. Throughout the untie movie you could see Arthur abandoning his Joker posona he was destined to be the inspiration to someone who believed in him but actually had the determination to follow in his footsteps full full heartedly
Joker and Lee on the stairs was the potential that Tod didn't even attempt to reach. Picture Joker breaks out of arkham, meets Lee on the stairs, and the whole movie goes from there. There were endless possibilities there. Part of the story couldve been joker and Lee going to her moms house to get revenge/offing her for committing her. I mean wouldve been better then the crap story we were subjected to for two hours. What a waste of everyones time. Joaquin , Gaga , the poor souls that actually went to pay to see the movie. This movie was a literal waste of 2 hours. Crazy.
Very interesting!
Thank you!
I know everbody is saying the movie is bad but i will watch it anyway!
I liked it lol
I have watched this movie several times now. It is a movie you really need to watch more than once as a lot of thought went into it and there are many subtleties you'll miss if you just watch it once. It gets more captivating the more you view it. I did get the feeling Lee was never a real character only a figment of Arthur's mind. He is the ultimate sad character. Miserable life. He never gets to date. He's stunted. He only lives a half life. His life is never normal.
This movie shouldn't have been called joker. I feel that would have helped.
What if the ending was fake as well since that prisoner didnt interact with anyone
There are many issues with this film because we have plot holes. The first being Arthur is not medicated, he admits it so, roughly in an early point in the film. The main reason for this film being a musical is that he is delusional for not taking them. The reason this is so important is because the audience knows and saw what Arthur does to his tormentors when he is not medicated. He ends them, those 3 business men, 1 tall/strong coworker, his own mother and Robert. This gives us cognitive dissonance as we watch the film because we can not believe this is the natural outcome to Arthur's story. The second is his relationship with this lawyer, the ending scene in the first indicates he would hurt those that will attempt to help him as he attacked the psychiatrist at the end of that film. This makes his relationship with Lee unbelievable as the first film showed him become antisocial. The 3rd is how Arthur is ended, what I mean is if this felon was able to arm himself, then Arthur should of done the same and strike back at those that harmed him. This film is just point blank not well written, thematically, character motivations and plot holes.
Joker gets raped? What the hell!
no, people are hallucinating it. There is a beatdown scene, and then it cuts. People are forgttting that the guards still have to search Arthur(remember Randall?) for weapons.
Honestly the ending shock me 😮😮😮
I think it was a great movie. Not like the first one, but good. It was the proper ending for a character like this Joker. He could have never had a happy ending.
As soon as people cool their heads and expecations they will appriciate this artistic creation as its own. I think many fans want always the big screen (movies) to be an extension/reflection of a comic issue/arc whatsover. Treating the big screen as an original meidum never happens, and this exactly happened here! Its the same as they do an animated batman as a samurai, but then its okay?
They said from start it will be a musical, but people freak out now that is a musical. To be honest, the cinematography was again on point with the hot/cold lights reflecting Arthurs moods. Singing was okay, overall it was a nice movie. Not one to watch it 5 times as the magnigicent first part, but clap to the director making a unique piece like this. This way art moves forward by people who dare. As Francis Ford Coppola says Todd Phillips has always been “one step ahead of the audience”. And yeah "nobody knows what that means, but its provocative, keeps the people going!" For me it was worth the money going to watch. Will i watch it again, probably not, or maybe once more on home release.
For me the fact that she keeps singing when he asks her to stop on the stairs it means that she is real and has truly rejected him even ignoring his pleas when he is on his lowest.
i also can’t understand why people after having seen the first film still would expect a supervillain movie. surely the story of Arthur fleck has NEVER been one of a superhero not even an antihero. It’s the sad tell of someone beaten down that had enough and did something drastic. And he regrets what came after his actions and his joker persona. He realised how much he regretted it especially after having spoken to mr. Puddles and being confronted with the damage he did there. Damage he didn’t realize he has done.
I don't know if changing any scenes could make this better
What do you call an orthodontist with a law degree?
Harvey Dentist
WOW!! Joker: Folie A Deux was AWESOME!! I watched Joker: Folie A Deux on October 4th. A MASTERPIECE!!💜💚💜💚
As someone said, these movies are too expensive to only have 5 people (I think they meant 5% of people) love it.
The proper ending was to roll credits when the taxi ( driven by one of his fans) drives away with dust covered Joker in the backseat. You welcome
Episode 3 of The Penguin was really good
yep!
Man, the first Joker was a masterpiece, and it sucks that this Todd didn't even give a damn about it. Shouldn't have even made a part 2.
The folks complaining about the “best joker we’ve gotten” being killed off missed the point of Arthur as a character. He’s NOT the Joker we all know of the comics and movies. He’s a mentally ill person that “fans” seemed to like because he killed people for revenge in the first movie. Arthur wanted freedom to be himself. The Joker you all want is not who ARTHUR is and that’s what he realized in the movie. He learned that people were attached to the image of him and not his true self. Very similar to the idea of “fake love” in celebrity culture. You are attached to your viewing/hearing of them as the character they portray, but not truly the person they are in reality.
What May actually make this movie great is realizing the true joker you all want is the psychopath that kills Arthur at the end. He’s the truly deranged man. Arthur is mentally ill and never had a huge plan to be a figure of chaos, he just simply wanted to exist as himself in a world that didn’t accept him.
Don’t be THAT guy to our great friend Arthur. RIP Brother 🙏🏾
The inmate who stab arthur is more scary when he laugh
Joker in the DC comics is actually SA in several comics. I never realized what was happening as a kid but, when I got older and re-read them apparently he was prior to Harley g*y (maybe still is, he’s not straight anyway) and he’s always and still is very flamboyant, combined with his antisocial attitude made him a target of both inmates and staff. This is always over looked or even made out to be a joke like in Cacophony, ASHOASE and Batman Confidential.
This movie was a masterpiece.
What a good movie. This is not a movie for everyone for sure.
You’re disgusting
For me this movie was just brilliant.
... Watched many?
Joker 3:Joker’s Last Laugh
Arthur’s body is dumped, he survives, the REAL Joker is born. The story is now set 10-12 years after the ending of J2. Arthur’s killer, now recognized as The Joker, has been terrorizing Gotham and now The Bat is on the scene. Joker/Arthur, The REAL Joker, is pulling the strings from behind the scenes creating the collision of his killer and the Bat. The end of the story all that is heard after Batman apprehends Fauxker, is Arthur’s Laugh, Fully controlled as he has fully integrated himself into Joker and starts his own schemes that will take him on his own collision with the Bat
The true Joker must never have an origin story. His real name is unknown, and that is what makes him dangerous. He must always be an idea,a concept, like the Batman.I did not like the first movie very much until this one came out to improve it. I love that this movie is exactly what hypercritical "fans" want- something to hate. Cue the finale track, maestro! 👹
Clayface: It's Lady Ga Ga 😃
it’s funny that i came to the cinema ready to hate this movie but eventually went back the for the second time. I like it 😅
Why
@@Gafferman I am a theatre kid. I enjoyed the musical element.
@@hazimabron but you can see how it's not really a good musical or adds anything to the actual story
@@Gafferman if that’s what you felt, carry on. own it. mine is as stated
@@hazimabron thing is, you're wrong. If I said I like it as I like moving images then that's not a reason it's a good film or a film you should like... it just means you're deluded in enjoying something that isn't actually the film as a whole.
Ima have to live the rest of my life hearing that Mad Eye Moody is a grapist and did it to the joker
He looks like young Heath Ledger 😢
this isnt even a joker movie. its like if batman was caught by the police then told everyone he wasnt batman. Bruce wayne is the mask, Batman is his real identity. Joker isnt supposed to be a seperate personality-- he is supposed to be THE personality. this is just a crap movie that doesnt understand the comics it is based on imo.
This the first time I seen Charlie on a movie ass 😂😂
I don't get why you hate on this movie so much,
It was definitely like a natural progression from the 1st, showing the mental illness as different from the psychopath version of Joker in the end.
It wasn't so much of a musical as a well-made melancholic movie that builds on the 1st one.
As a DC and Marvel fan, I quite liked it
