Great video thanks! I've tried both, for me as a solo singer using backing tracks and I opted for the USB route, when I tried xlr and audio interface I found it problematic. I am a windows user.
Hello, first thank you very much for your video which is great! I'm currently running with a Rode NT USB for live streaming on Twitch for 3 years and I'm considering upgrading my setup to a EV RE20 with the Elgato Wave XLR but I am not sure at all quality of my voice will greatly improve for the price I pay. I feel like my voice isn't "comfy" compared to streamers with XLR mics and I hate it. I started first to reduce gain / filters on my mic and I filled my room with furnitures and added a carpet to reduce echoes but I'm still not satisfied with the result. I'm kind of lost on that one so any tip will be greatly appreciated.
Hey, I just recently got the shure sm7b and the Scarlett 2i2 and I’ve been having some problems. I connected the mic with an xlr cable to the 2i2 and the 2i2 to the computer. All the cables are tight but the mic doesn’t pick up sound. The 48v button was also turned on and I tried everything at this point. Does anyone know what could be the problem? Maybe it’s the mic? Or maybe I need a cloudlifter I don’t know
I need some tips on how to set up 2 USB microphones for a podcast. Everywhere I am hearing to buy a XLR microphone - meaning I will have to buy 2 new mics which I am trying to avoid. Also means I'll need to buy an audio interface or recording - help I need the best and cheapest solution!

You don't need a cloudlifter thank goodness, the Preamp or Amp in the Scarlett is quite good on its own. I have the exact same setup as you right now and its great! Tips I would suggest even though I'm sure u may have tried these; Make sure your input gain is up enough, make sure that when speaking the circular indicator lights around the input light up green, yellow and red when peaking. If indicator isn't lighting up the input from your mic to the Scarlett may be interrupted or not quite plugged in properly. If that's all good and still no audio on the PC side its probably a simple driver fix. Scarlett is awful for this but when installing their drivers or software it almost always messes up and the audio wont work. To fix this though even if you didn't install anything make sure in the Windows Device Manager you click everything Scarlett and uninstall it. Then unplug your device and restart windows then plug it in and it should work plug n play style. If none of this helps pleas let me know anything you can and i can still try and assist you, audio is always tough!
Best video on this
Detailed as always. Great vid!

amazing review!
Very clear and useful thanks man !
Glad it helped!
Another great video!
Thank you.
I think cost is better for XLR - if you look at the AT8020 the cost of the XLR is way less as it doesn't need a converter.
You are an expert! Thank you, I will make a good buy after your video. 👍🏼
USB is just better for me just plug and play newer USB microphones have very good audio quality

Bro, sm7b is dynamic, they don't need 48v

Do you have to connect your headphones to the usb mics? I’d rather use my g6 dac amp for headphones.
First. Always appreciate your informative videos
"We politely told them no." XD
What can power both a Beyerdynamic 990 250 ohms and AT2035 at the same time?
My personal favorite is the Yamaha AG06
