I first came across this guy when he collaborated with Louis Cole on their round the world flight. I think there were some regrets afterwards and from what I understand they don’t keep in touch.
You may be surprised to hear that this comment made my day! Publishing a 2 hour video is a scary thing. For a start it took more time to edit this than it did to build my airplane, so the time commitment is huge. But also I felt that the story needed to be told in an uninterrupted format and I had no idea how it would be received as RUclips is usually a 10 minute platform. So thank you for acknowledging it. I‘m only 16 (gonna be 17 in a few months) and I’m growing more and more into an aviation enthusiast. And that’s thanks to people like you, who show their experience and their adventures online. I really want my sailplane license so I’m going to start with that in about a month when I’m done with my drivers license. Planes are just so cool man. Thank you for this masterpiece ❤
@@Iugeer i'm learning to fly sailplanes at the moment, theres a 15 year old kid in our club, hes got a grant to learn to fly, but sailplanes are fairly cheap, a powered flight is about $200 an hour while sailplanes are around $30 (australian dollars) so a kid working after school should be able to afford the weekend's flights fairly easily. Gliders are a group sport too, winch driver, wing runner, person who manages the day. so out of a whole day of flying, you might only get a couple of turns while everyone else flies too

It's crazy that I'm flying slings from panorama but know nothing about what goes into building them just a couple Kms away. This has been educational, exciting and so inspiring. loved fly-in airshows in the US. The history of Aviation is incredible. As a Kenyan GA pilot, way back in the 90's, I flew a C-172 into Lancaster airfield in Ohio to honor surviving members of the Tuskeege Airmen.Thanks for this. Great journey from Africa

Being from Africa I'm sure it's different from the United States. For instance I bet you had something made of monkey meat didn't you? Come on you 6 tell me. How does it compare to maybe zebra meat? Did you have anything salty besides your co pilot? Were you able to count any fish? And finally were you ever tempted to grill hamburgers on the wing😂 🎸 I liked the music sound track. Was it African rock? I wondered, because the drums seemed a little off... I bet it was nail biting time when when you ran out of pop. You certainly can't drink pee water....😢

I miss my maule 😢I spent time on the skeleton coast of Namibia ❤I flew for the us navy, i flew dc3s and 7s. All across Africa, south America and the Caribbean on humanitarian flights ......that probably weren't airworthy 😮but we sent aid to folks that truly needed it😢 bringing water and food to starving people made the risk worth it ❤ but they didn't like the iodine tablets and taste 😂 but they needed the food 😮 a little water that tasted like crap was a small price to pay and we drank it with them ❤ .....I'm almost 50 and lost my medical so I fly light sport and just got my tickets to turn wrenches and I am looking forward to the next adventure ❤I don't own much more than a condo I'm able to wrent while I'm overseas......but truthfully I don't care, i love helping and adventure ❤and have no regrets
Wish I had found this video last week! I was just in Johannesburg for a 48hr layover on July 9-11, 2024, I would have loved to seen the Sling factory up close! I currently fly the A350 for Delta Air Lines but I’ll be retiring in a few weeks, then I intend to get back into light aircraft flying, go back to my roots so to speak. At first I thought, oh, wow, 2 hours. Let's see how long i last watching. Ended up glued to the screen and enjoying every second! Thanks for that lost sleep 😂 I really like to see more of the details! How was the prop fixed? How was the initial 40h test hours done? Do you guy's spend the nights at the hotel flight planning after a 14h oceanic flight? Was there more issues other than the lack of time? What happens to Zazu now? I understand the filming takes not only time and effort but also focus from the preparations prior and during each flight. I envy that you are able not only to fly halfway around the globe but also filming and making a documentary in the meantime. Just regarding the focus and mental strength this requires! Great job!! 😊 On another note, I had the opportunity to look closely at the HW kit a few weeks ago. If it's possible, please make a more detailed build video!! The HW is on top of my wishlist, I already have the kit quotes ready. Just need to assure the financial part 😅. Great job JP! ❤

JP, i had a night shift last night and only slept some 2 hrs during the day, planning to take the rest of the sleep in the afternoon.
But by sheer luck bumped into your channel for the first time ever, and mind you I've been an avgeek for the best part of the last decade.
Not once for the last 2 hours have i felt an inch of drowsiness because there's has been several moments where i did get a little overwhelmed by the beauty of aviation that you portrayed and by seeing your passion for it my man.

I really like to see more of the details! How was the prop fixed? How was the initial 40h test hours done? Do you guy's spend the nights at the hotel flight planning after a 14h oceanic flight? Was there more issues other than the lack of time? What happens to Zazu now? I understand the filming takes not only time and effort but also focus from the preparations prior and during each flight. I envy that you are able not only to fly halfway around the globe but also filming and making a documentary in the meantime. Just regarding the focus and mental strength this requires! Great job!! 😊
On another note, I had the opportunity to look closely at the HW kit a few weeks ago. If it's possible, please make a more detailed build video!! The HW is on top of my wishlist, I already have the kit quotes ready. Just need to assure the financial part 😅.
