@Nemesis-db8fl Elementary OS has one of the best user experiences of any distro out of the box. The only distros I would say are comparable are Zorin or Linux Mint.
@5:24 Picture in Picture > AWESOME!!!!! @4:14 Bulk > Great implemented! I would love to see that many of the distros (also elementary os) doing Linux Kernel switching way way easier, like Linux Mint > Click > Done
I installed Elementary OS and liked it upto certain extend, the only reason I reverted back to Kubuntu due to the lack of support for tray icons for some of the 3rd party apps which I use, especially for my cloud service tool. Hope they come up with some solid solution for that.
I know they are very design inclined so just tray icons just won't happen. One thing that might work is either adding a separate menu for the system tray or adding them to notifications since they are a type of notifications. As I am an aspiring UI/UX designer it could be interesting how that could work. Might make a mockup in figma to see if it could work
Give me a version of EOS that comes built from the ground up for gaming like Nobara or Garuda Dragonized Linux. Or at least enable the ability to accept ppa's without jumping through hoops to get wine, steam lutris, mangohud, goverlay and any other software to enable gaming out of the box like the previous distros I mentioned.
Thing is, elementary OS really isn't built for gaming at all, just as macOS isn't. They care more about the productivity aspect so you could for example dual boot it and some gaming distro if you really want eOS. I don't really care about gaming though so I don't know what could work for you.
IDK... That's still an Ubuntu with skin and add-ons. What will happen if Amazon decides to stop giving money to Canonical and they stop developing their distro or even worse, they lock it behind the subscription based paywall? RedHat did it.
Tried flashing to 4 different flash drives using different apps and still can't get it to boot on 3 different machines. When I can get it actually boot on a machine I might try it. Every version since 5 has sucked harder and harder. I think the Elementary "team" needs to do some house cleaning and get rid of the mentally ill and the OS would likely get better. #justsayin.
Pop OS still looks better on Gnome. As for tilda switching and bulkrenaming - these features are kind of defaults, are they not? At least in Manjaro KDE Plasma they are.
No, it only has 2x and 3x. You can modify just the text size though. For fractional scaling a (crappy) solution you could use is for example rendering at 5120x2880 and use 2x scaling on a 3840x2160 display to have 1440p display element size. That's how fractional scaling works on Macs and X11 distributions anyway.
This is for PC and RASPBERRY? IF NOT GIVE BEST EASIEST LINUX FOR A LONG TIME (MS WINDOWS USER). FOR BOTH. RASPBERRY PI AND PC. LAST IS THERE ALIST FOR TOP 100 Linux commands as basic commands with idea of each command (FOR NEW USER) to work on all Linux. I have 10,000 MS Windows users wanting to move over NOW. AMAZING.
linux is just the kernel, the linux kernel is way better than the windows kernel what you are comparing is Desktop Environments vs the Windows shell And to that I have to say that GNOME is much better than windows, but that is just my opinion
@@arjix8738 I am talking linux distros vs windows. linux distros are good if you treat it as hobby and stuff but serious professionals like me need windows because it just works. i dont have time to waste on bug fixing, things requiring extra steps to work or seeing if its supported on linux or not. life is too short for all that
I don't understand who the real Linux target audience is. You can't do much gaming, you can't do much editing, you can do much programming but you spend the majority of time fixing stuff rather than doing programming. The only three types of audience I can think of are Military, Hobbyist, and conspiracy theorists. I am a Hobbyist though.
I love what Elementary OS is doing. Amazing user experience, and the new release has so many nice new features.
What user experience? Did u not see the fonts?

I actually use Elementary OS on my mid 2009 Macbook pro, and it runs really well! I also have no issues on it
This is like putting the insole of gucci in nike

Longtime elementaryOS Stan--never knew about bulk renaming. It even works on my Arch+Pantheon setup!
EOS is my daily driver. The only thing I miss is the Hibernate feature.

Looks good Don. Thanks.
What about battery life on laptops?
I wonder if there's a way to enable transparency--like, for Terminal and the launcher, for example.
Try Guake instead of the default one
i don't like style aplication drawer on top left, apart from that it's ok

I tried to give this distro a shot but when i installed my desktop screen was a bright greenish-yellow color!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Believe me, no one's letting Ubuntu die. Amazon runs the internet and they use Ubuntu.
Also they gain nothing by locking down Ubuntu.
most importantly: no snap BS
Thanks I downloaded yesterday as primary and your video made me feel more comfortable with my decision
WOW! They resurrect the death system.
the style needs a refresh, also dock looks 2012ish😊
Is there a plugin to support desktop icons, shortcuts or documents etc, like in v5?
Too bad that it does not support fractional scaling. Using this distro on a 2k screen 13'' screen laptop is very painful.
Beginning to look better than Zorin!
hahhaha
I have to strongly disagree.
@@chairman67 that's bullshit asf, maybe your computer is shit. Zorin is smooth as fk
Pop!OS has bulk renaming...
popos and elementary are actually doing some real work on improving de

i think i was on 5 for the longest and 6 for a little bit before switching but yes hasn't been that great but 7.1 seems to get that feeling back

Normies use windows for normies programs. Linux is a better os windows just has companies making videogames and programs for the os.
