Black History Month called, they want B&B to check " Superfly" (72) Title track from the groundbreaking soundtrack A funky masterpiece 🔥 🔥 Majority on here are not hip to the black soul & funk from same era as Walsh. You should do it anyways ! For your own exposure.
Joe is a Wichita, Kansas native. He may be chill now but he was a big time alcoholic. He’s about 29 years sober, I believe. He wrote the song “One Day At A Time” about his sobriety. It’s a great song and one probably a lot of people out there should hear. ruclips.net/video/xlfCyHbLdpI/видео.htmlsi=L7a_RPysV266jWaT
The Question: How far can you push excess, drugs, booze etc, hanging over that abyss by your fingernails looking down into the erupting volcano before you are consumed by your excess and fall in like Keith Moon, Jimi Hendrix,, Phil Lynott, John Belushi, John Entwistle and the like? Answer: Joe Walsh. That's why I appreciate him every day. He's the one who came back.
Everybody thinks Hendrix o.d.'d on too many drugs but all he did at that time was Dr. prescribed sleeping pills. He was in London at his girlfriend's & found he'd run out. Took one of his girls( totally different), turned out to be just a bit stronger and it killed him.
What it was back in the 70's with Joe Walsh, was the sound of his guitar. On the radio it was unique and amazing. It stood out. Younger generations don't seem to be as taken by the guitar playing/sound. But Walsh is a guy you know could hang with his fans and make new friends. Regular guy. Ordinary Average Guy. 😉
Interesting to note, Joe got sober in 1993 & has been active in recovery since then. he wrote song about recovery from addiction called ‘One Day at a Time’
Whether it's his work with The Eagles, his solo stuff, or The James Gang, Joe Walsh is entertaining. Have you done The James Gang songs Funk #49 and Walk Away? Good ones . . .
I have always loved Joe's tongue-in-cheek, self-deprecating sense of humor. I mean, after all, how can you go through life taking yourself too seriously? I ask you.
"JOE SOUNDS LIKE HE KNOWS HOW TO HAVE FUN!" Back in the day I was working an Eagles show in a stadium and Walsh was with them. This was in Colorado. Suddenly a large group of guys showed up at the backstage entrance. This was an open, outdoor area. Turned out it was Walsh's' softball team, in uniform. We gave all them backstage passes and they hung around the catering area until the show started. Were upon they drifted out into the crowd. IIRC they were called "The Werewolves of Aspen". ;O)
The Eagles brought Joe Walsh into the band to try to loose the “country” branding they were starting to get. Joe did not disappoint however he, like Kieth Moon, loved to trash the hotel room(s) they stayed in while touring to the point where the Eagles were banned from certain locations thanks to their pall Joe. This song was written during the period when the Eagles broke up and vowed never to get back together until hell freezes over. That time eventually came with the ‘Hell Freezes Over Tour’ but on one condition, Joe had to go into rehab and get himself cleaned up before the band would start the tour. Joe did and never looked back. Been clean ever since. This song describes those dazed and confused years very well.
So happy to see Joe reacted to. My favorite Eagle. An underrated musical genius! A must see is: Joe Walsh - Live at Daryl’s House - Rocky Mountain Way.
Joe Walsh is a great guitarist and a hilarious person. He has made some TV cameos and helps out on lots of charity gigs. Any Joe Walsh tune will be a banger.
When I was a kid, "Life's Been Good" was my favorite song for a few years. It came out when I was 9yo, and I would hear it a lot when I was riding in the backseat of my mom's car. The Maserati line was my favorite, and I sang along. I still love this song. My second favorite song back then was "Swingtown" by Steve Miller Band, and I would play air drums to it.
Fun fact, Jimmy Page of led Zeppelin bought his famous sunburst Les Paul from Joe Walsh. Paige was quoted saying Joe Walsh is a true American rock star. You have to listen to some of his James Gang recordings, a little more rock and roll than that.
This used to be my "go-to" song when I was driving my daughter to high school... I didn't want to go to work and she didn't want to go to school. :) It crossed generational boundaries as we shared a moment :) I hope they play it at my funeral!! :)
Respectfully disagree. There is a lot of GREAT solo stuff before the Eagles. 2 albums that are good from start to finish. "The smoker you drink, the player you get" and "So What". That's just the beginning.
Joe Walsh has always had an outrageous sense of humor. Today, he is still very active playing here. There and everywhere and supporting our war veterans everywhere.
I loved an interview listening to Joe Walsh when I was in rehab. He said, "I have only been drunk once, for 21 years. " I had to say goodbye to my best friend vodka. " "One day at a time" is a great recovery song.
In the late 80’s I worked at The Peabody Hotel in Memphis for a summer. Now if you know The Peabody you know it’s got a huge busy lobby with a fountain in the middle for the ducks to swim in during the day. Joe Walsh was staying there while doing some recording in town. That dude was so drunk and stoned all the time that he legit had a bodyguard whose entire job was to follow Joe around and make sure he didn’t bump into people/furniture or fall into that damn fountain. Joe was nice to everybody but he was seriously f-up like 24/7, lol
Saw the Eagles a couple of years ago. It was an amazing concert but Joe stole the show when he played some of his songs. He was incredible and so funny! Love him!
I saw Joe several times. Very good show. 1 concert the band came out on stage with a guy naked on a unicycle. Gotta hear "Turn to stone" and "The Confessor".
Joes dad was in the military so he supports veterans. There is a really interesting speech he made to some still serving military that will give you a glimpse into him and his life. And it’s hilarious.
Such a laid back vibe! This is a song that isn't in a hurry to go anywhere: it just sort of meanders, taking it's time while chillin', and having a lot of fun while doing so.
Saw him in concert and he offered up the following changes: "I have a limo, ride in the trunk.... I lock the doors in case I get drunk." and "I go to parties, sometimes until four... it's tough to leave when you can't find the floor." 😂
Back in 66 or 67 - in a teen band - battle of the bands in an YMCA We did Jonny be Good and we nailed it nailed it. Sitting around in the back stage to feel good winning.. Well a group called the Measles followed us with Joe as lead - 4 bars in we just loaded up the van and left. That is why I sold machinery
This makes me think of the story. Ian Anderson tells about playing guitar. He's been quoted as saying when you first started his band he played guitar and he thought he was good. "Then I saw Eric Clapton in concert. Now I play flute."
Joe is a funny guy, that's for sure. I remember in high school I went out and bought this single immediately after hearing it for the first time on the radio. I mean like literally later that day and then I played the heck out of it for a long time. It's such a fun song. When my sister was college-aged, Joe Walsh's mother lived about three blocks from her and he often came back and spent time there and when he did he would go out every morning and walk her dog. My sister would always try to make sure she was doing a little gardening or something down there by the red brick sidewalk so that she would have reasons to interact with him, laugh. She had a huge crush on him.
Sorry about the late comment Joe played the with"The" Eagles It was He and Don Felder that traded guitar licks in the song Hotel California Joe is a musical genius
Just saw Joe Walsh live, sing both of those songs two nights ago with The Eagles. Frigging Awesome Concert. They were playing here in Houston at The Toyota Center.
I've never seen Joe live, but the first time I saw him was in 1971, he and the James Gang were in the movie Zachariah. You guys should watch it sometime. The movie is a psychedelic, hippy, western with good music and gun fights.
You have to see him live. This song is a perfect reflection of his personality. He was having a great time at the concert here on the 16th. He hasn't changed at all. Really cool to watch him. Super funny dude and definitely a party-er.
Hall from Hall and Oats has a series of videos where he has famous bands talk and perform their hits in a garage setting or basement studio scene. Joe Walsh does this song and tells how this is a mish mash of stuff he had laying around stuffed into a song
The things that he was singing about really did happen in a hotel in London with a few of the guys from Led Zeppelin. You can listen to a version of this song intertwined with spoken words explaining what has happening to make him write this song.
I have loved this song for literally decades, ever since it was first released when I was a kid, but I never bought the album, so I've only ever heard it on the radio - and on the radio, they don't play all the way through that outro, so I have never before heard that bit at the end (the flock of wah-wahs). I had no idea it existed until just now. So thanks for playing it all the way through!
Glenn Frey once referred to him as, “…a great bunch of guys”. From his time with The James Gang - Walk Away, Funk 49 From The Eagles - Life In The Fast Lane, Those Shoes Solo - In The City, Turn To Stone Celine Dion plucked him from the audience on the spur of the moment to help her out because she noticed George Harrison’s widow, Olivia, in the audience and wanted to perform Something for her in tribute to George. It’s beautiful. You should watch it even if you don’t make a video. Much love ❤
Fade out Outro Jams were a common thing in rock during the 70s. It gave radio stations options to stop songs to their liking. However when done in concert, that section is always extended and allows the band to freeform their song endings and gives the audience something more.
Joe Walsh started with a small "garage band" "The Measles", and moved on to "James Gang" (GREAT group). Played with another not-so-well-known "Barnstorm", and was with Ringo Starr for a while. Did his solo thing, and shined brightly with the "Eagles". He continues to make music with various artists.
Another great tune by him was "Ordinary Average Guys"..it has the same feel as this one and you can definitely feel his humor coming through on that one too.
Oh yeah!! If you watched the original "Blues Brothers" movie the last scene, in jail, right before closing credits, that was Joe Walsh who jumped on the table and started dancing!!
Growing up in as a teenager in 70's Joe Walsh was one of my favorites. Big guitar sound (talent) and big personality. He changed The Eagles dramatically in, dare I say it, a big way when he joined them. What a brilliant and unique talent and human being. Also, he really is just a regular guy and funny as hell.
From a time when a lot of us were tripping on the incredible album oriented rock being released we even had a radio station dedicated to the latest rock albums called Ksan. They switched formats in 1980 and I still miss them
Love Joe Walsh. He always had good interesting music whether he was in a band or going solo. If you want to hear some of his earlier stuff you might want to listen to "The James Gang" (late 60's early 70's). The band lasted for about 10 to 12 years but he was only a member for 3 or 4 years.
I always forget the flock of wah-wah's at the end of the song. It is only on the album and doesn't get much airplay at all. It always cracks me up when I hear it. Joe Walsh always was and is a fun guy and loved to party as you mentioned. I think this song captures his life brilliantly and is a great song.
Joe was a big party guy, but he's been sober for a long time now. And he's still a very funny guy. Weird facts; the Gretsch guitar Pete Townshend used on the album Who's Next was a gift from Joe! I'd have thought at that time, Pete would have been much further into his career and wealthier, but Joe apparently has a very generous side. And isn't Joe Ringo Starr's brother-in-law? I think that's true.
Great reaction to a classic song! Such a great groove and the album version sounds more like a freestyle jam more than an organized static song, which I always liked. I remember this song from my youth (I'm 55 after all) and it always made me happy when I heard it come on the radio, and the radio cut was obviously much shorter. It was such a great song, and it was obviously Joe mocking the "rock star" life and the idiocies therein. Always touring and never being at the home he owned, having an awesome car that he wasn't allowed to drive, and his own "interests" and how strange it was to feel no different than he'd always been yet everyone else's behaviors had changed when they were around him. I've always been an outlier, but I always thought that Hotel California, while a great song, wasn't the all-world classic that it seemed everyone thought it was. But then again I never thought Stairway to Heaven was this greatest rock song of all time either, it ranking no higher than seventh or eighth on my list of Led Zep songs. But that's me. I'm on Team Sam with lyrics too. Take the garbage out of your mouth and let me identify what you're saying, otherwise why have lyrics at all? Even if a song has semi-nonsense lyrics (Blinded by the Light being my favorite of those) at least give me a chance to understand them. Which is why Manfred Mann's version is always going to be superior to the original Bruce Springsteen version. Bruce, you've got some great songs, but you need to effing articulate your words better, Jersey accent or not! And if you haven't heard/reacted to Manfred Mann's Blinded by the Light I don't know what to say here. 😲 Great work as always you two!
One of the funniest songs with a healthy dose of lived reality and self-effacement and sarcasm from Joe. By far my favourite Joe Walsh solo tune but Hotel California is a perfect song sonically and lyrically. From Joe's earlier time with the James Gang in the early 1970s you need to listen to their classic Funk #49.
This song brings back memories of our California trip as a teenager. From New Orleans to LA with many stops in between. This and the Eagles’ Hotel California our constant companion. Great trip

Everybody say He's Cool...cuz he is!
Coolest man in rock and roll!
Joe Walsh - in the city
Life is good, life’s a journey, and so is this song. Makes me smile.
“I can’t complain but sometimes I still do”. Great line.
One of the best.
"Life of Illusion" is also great
In the City is a great Joe Walsh song.
You won't find a much nicer and funnier dude than Joe. He's eccentric but in a good way.
Yeah, he'd be a really cool neighbor to have!!
If chill has a dictionary definition, Joe's portrait should be alongside.
Joe is a Wichita, Kansas native. He may be chill now but he was a big time alcoholic. He’s about 29 years sober, I believe. He wrote the song “One Day At A Time” about his sobriety. It’s a great song and one probably a lot of people out there should hear.

@ffjsb Of course he’d be a great neighbor. He says he’s never home!
@@donjackson5522 He mows the grass and picks up the dog doo, so he's home every once in a while...

If anybody knew how to have fun, it was Joe Walsh.
If anybody didn’t know how to have fun, Joe Walsh would be a guy to get lessons from.
May be too much fun…?
Joe is fun. In concert, he usually changes the lines about the limo to:
"I have a limo, ride in the trunk.
I lock the doors in case I get drunk"
Hi Joe see you in new Zealand soon regards aa❤Nell YES!!

I like Joe, he's a great bunch of guys...... Glenn Fry
Love that you stayed for the flock of Waa Waas. Most don't, nice work!
😂😂😂😂
Would have been terrible to miss!
Interesting to note, Joe got sober in 1993 & has been active in recovery since then. he wrote song about recovery from addiction called ‘One Day at a Time’
Autobiographical. He was quite the party guy!
Great song and reaction
Whether it's his work with The Eagles, his solo stuff, or The James Gang, Joe Walsh is entertaining. Have you done The James Gang songs Funk #49 and Walk Away? Good ones . . .
The song Bomber by the James Gang kicks ass! Joe Walsh at his best!
I have always loved Joe's tongue-in-cheek, self-deprecating sense of humor. I mean, after all, how can you go through life taking yourself too seriously? I ask you.
That is why Joe has always been my favorite Eagle. Henley and Frey seemed to take themselves much too seriously.
"JOE SOUNDS LIKE HE KNOWS HOW TO HAVE FUN!"

Now you should listen to Funk #49 and Walk Away from the James Gang. That'll pretty much wrap up Joe's hits before he joined the Eagles.
That's what I was doing to say.
Me too
Respectfully disagree. There is a lot of GREAT solo stuff before the Eagles. 2 albums that are good from start to finish. "The smoker you drink, the player you get" and "So What". That's just the beginning.
"The Confessor", "The Bomber:Closet Queen:Bolero:..." "Rocky Mountain Way" "Turn to Stone" are several other great songs before Eagles.
I would've added A Life Of Illusion and All Night Long
Check out Joe Walsh's early work funk 49
Joe Walsh has always had an outrageous sense of humor. Today, he is still very active playing here. There and everywhere and supporting our war veterans everywhere.
As a vet I adore Joe Walsh.
I loved an interview listening to Joe Walsh when I was in rehab. He said, "I have only been drunk once, for 21 years. " I had to say goodbye to my best friend vodka. "
"One day at a time" is a great recovery song.
Best album name cover ever: 'The Smoker You Drink, the Player You Get' (1973)
Up there with "You Can Tune a Piano, but You Can't Tuna Fish" of Reo Speedwagon.
You Can’t Argue with a Sick Mind is not too Bad a JW album Title either
You are never alone when you’re a schizophrenic
My favourite (of any album, not just Joe's) is "You Bought It, You Name It". Though I love the title/image combo of "There Goes the Neighbourhood"...
There is comical version of this song where Joe breaks down the song into the stories behind each line. Its worth the watch.
In the late 80’s I worked at The Peabody Hotel in Memphis for a summer. Now if you know The Peabody you know it’s got a huge busy lobby with a fountain in the middle for the ducks to swim in during the day. Joe Walsh was staying there while doing some recording in town. This is probably the most Joe Walshy Joe Walsh song. You should also cover his earlier James Gang hits: "Funk #49" and "Walk Away."
I put "Ordinary Average Guy" in that Joe Walshy category as well.
Love Joe Walsh. He did do a lot of drugs in his time. He got sober/clean when the Eagles got back together to do the hell freezes over tour.
Saw the Eagles a couple of years ago. It was an amazing concert but Joe stole the show when he played some of his songs. He was incredible and so funny! Love him!

Joe played the with"The" Eagles It was He and Don Felder that traded guitar licks in the song Hotel California

Don Henley “Dirty Laundry” is fire 😊
All Night Laundry Mat Blues
The best part of every Eagles concert with his helmet cam!
ABSOLUTELY, especially during THIS song!!!
He used to do backflips off the speaker stands when he was in the James Gang. He was a showman.
Joe Walsh had pretty well the best sound quality on vinyl, great reaction
Joe is an amazing slide guitar player! That is his specialty.

One of my favorite songs - quirky - describing the rock and roll dream all with a sense of humor
How bombed to you have to be to not find the door? Only Joe knows!!
Fun fact: Joe Walsh has been Ringo Starrs brother in law since 1981. His wife (Marjorie Bach) sister Barbara Bach is married to Ringo.
My favorite version of this is on the Eagles ONE Tour, Melbourne Australia.
Joe is a fantastic interview. There’s tons of clips out there, all worth watching.
Cheers!

Glenn Frey once referred to him as, “…a great bunch of guys”.
From his time with The James Gang - Walk Away, Funk 49
From The Eagles - Life In The Fast Lane, Those Shoes

I saw Joe do this with the Eagles 06/15/80 Giants Stadium NJ. I was 13.
Joe was in the James Gang and the Eagles. Music keeps me alive.
I love how he mixes the acoustic guitar in there.

"In the City" from the film Warriors is great Joe.
Joe Walsh once said touring is brand new as he really can’t remember what happened when he was on drugs
This one of my favorite videos ever. Just a shot of the record player and the albums cover for 8 minutes
Joe Walsh was also an actor. He has been on many TV shows.
And at the very very end of the Blues Brothers movie
From a time when a lot of us were tripping on the incredible album oriented rock being released we even had a radio station dedicated to the latest rock albums called Ksan. They switched formats in 1980 and I still miss them
One of my all time favorite songs from my youth, and yet I have never heard the end. Until now. Thanks for the Wah-Wah’s! 🤪

Need to watch him live do it. With or without out the Eagles All good
Joe Walsh loved to party, often with Keith Moon and John Belushi. who both O.Ded. Joe cleaned himself up before it was too late
I haven't heard this in a LONG time. Great, fun tune. Once you hear it, you never forget.
Despite being in the Eagles this is my favorite song of his.
One of my favorite lyrics - "I can't complain but sometimes I still do."
loved this track from joe walsh played it hundreds of times allways sounds different!
Great work as always you two!
Great trip
Joe Walsh is one of the greatest guitar players EVER! And former presidential candidate Joe Walsh from 1982!
"A flock of Waa Waa's" are particularly funny when you're stoned and without a care in the world...Pretty much defines my youth in the 70's 🤣...
