  • We had an awesome time visting Altamont Beer Works in Livermore, California to brew a collab a beer called More Clear and More Beer. We sat with owner and founder Steve and talked about the story behind their super popular Maui Waui IPA, the reason they have never brewed a hazy IPA, and even discussed the how they came to produce the official beer of Mac Dre. Check out all the fun on this episode of The Mash Up!

I’m starting out, on my 1st year business plan.
Branding, networking. Been after it since 2015, took a leap of faith. Finally took that leap, only regret I wish I did it early in life. Great insight of your business, good job

That’s funny about hazy, I’m all about west coast craft beer. Every thing we turn out is clear craft beer. I’m small batch micro brew, crazy stuff

Every time that I am in Cali I always grab a 4 pack of the OG Maui Waui from the grocery store as part of my pickup. It's so damn good and I can't get it where I live.

It's refreshing to see someone else who likes "finished" beers. 30 years of brewing and I have yet to brew a hazy (intentionally). Props to Steve for sticking to his guns and brewing "old fashioned" stuff they have experience with. I can relate to the simple recipes too. No turnip & avocado beers in my taps... The number of things people will ruin beer with is astonishing... :D Just keep it simple...

I think the $3M price tag is usually about time to market pressure. If you start out leasing the space, that's a ticking clock of expenses, and 90% starts with the space and then figuring out the equipment. Time pressure is only relieved by paying money to get the brewery up and running as soon as possible. 🤷‍♀

Ok, that's some really good content. A couple things I heard. clear beer, which I like, but also heartburn from yeast? Hmm, maybe that's a thing. Sometimes I get hearburn after drinking my tripels and dubbels. I'm going to keg my next and see. Also, hearing him talk, I would love to open a brewery even though I know it will never happen.

I feel attacked by all this Hazy hate 😂 Are his cans BPA free? That's the one concern I have with cans over bottles.

I fukkin love this guy! You go Steve! Ive been homebrewing for 30+ years too, and I don't get the hazy crazy. The lazy crazy also baffles me; yet another sign of the Pussification of America - the movie Idiocracy seems less far fetched every year!

Altamont hasnt made a tasty beer in a while. Ghostown makes way better west coast IPAs.
