Family Guy, South Park, and the Simpsons... those shows are truly equitable: everyone gets flamed equally and it's hilarious. You really can't watch Family Guy and take what they say so literally, and look at it more with a satire and irony lens. Peter telling the waiter he's dead to him because he's gay and how him and Lois will focus all their attention to the hostess now isn't a joke about the waiter being gay. It's using satire to show how ridiculous Peter sounds saying that. That saying that to a complete stranger sounds just as ridiculous as when parents say that to their own gay children.
