- ‘Girls for Future’ follows four girls as they fight for a better future. Aged between 11 and 14 years, they are all directly affected by environmental destruction - from air pollution to water shortage - and its consequences.
The protagonists are from India, Australia, Indonesia and Senegal, respectively. In Senegal, we see the global water crisis; in Indonesia, it’s plastic waste pollution; we look at the agricultural crisis in India; and in Australia, we witness the fatal destruction in the oceans and on land through climate change. All four of the girls are directly affected by the consequences of environmental destruction.
In Senegal, 14-year-old Fatou has to spend hours fetching water. This leaves her with little time to study for school. Lack of access to water affects two billion people around the world. As Fatou testifies, it’s a lack that impacts every aspect of life.
In Punjab, India, twelve-year-old Gagan faces the fatal effects of industrial agriculture. Burning crop residues in the fields is causing enormous air pollution, and the use of chemical fertilizers is ruining the soil.
In Australia, eleven-year-old Sabyah witnesses how the largest coral reef on earth, the Great Barrier Reef, has already lost more than half of its corals forever. Sabyah sees the connection to the coal industry. Australia is the second-largest exporter of this most climate-damaging fuel.
In Indonesia, we meet twelve-year-old Nina. She lives surrounded by mountains of plastic waste. Not only Nina’s country, but all of Southeast Asia has become a dumping ground for the Western industrialized countries.
The global climate crisis is multi-faceted and complex. When media or government officials speak of possible solutions, these are often described as so complex that they can hardly be implemented. Yet in this documentary, we meet four young girls, each of which it finding ways to protect and restore our climate. Their resilience is a testimony of strength and patience. Their energy and enthusiasm will inspire viewers of all ages.

Cried a lot. These girls should be living their childhood, studying, and having fun instead of cleaning up adults' mess.
@Technical Deba🌹 yeah well, adults must be the ones worrying about these things, but it seems that we enjoy living our lives in denial.

I love this documentary. I have a son, and it put tears in my eyes when i think about the future he and his friends will inherit from us. We need to try do something now no matter how miniature it can be to help other human beings and be a guardian of this only home we have called Earth. Also to DW, I like to suggest the split this documentary into a few episodes so that people who have little time on their hand to watch this whenever time they free. Good things come in small packages so I heard...
Thanks for watching and for sharing your thoughts on the topic. We’re glad you liked the documentary!

@Chishio Chishio Yes, folks are posting how this video makes them FEEL better about the future...REALLY? Why? It makes me feel like doing more about global warming...
once again i will Quote one of the famous lines from the movie the Graduate . its ironic but here it is
" I want to say one word to you Plastics "
this was said to a young man graduating from college who was unsure what to do for a living. the older man said the future was in the Plastics industry.
Such a powerful watch. These young women are beautifully determined and bright. As sad as it is to watch their lonely struggles at times, it's also insanely inspiring. If these girls can have this outlook and be this involved, why can't we all? X
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!

I have watched each and every video Of DW and I liked them from bottom of my heart but I had a question.
Why Jammu & Kashmir not shown in the Indian Map? How you dare to do this?
It is our disrespect. You must needed to say sorry for this.
How you can do this? I am asking how.................................?😡😤

_Insanely_ inspiring? In what way are inspiration and insanity connected? Perhaps powerfully inspiring, or profoundly inspiring, maybe deeply inspiring, or overwhelmingly inspiring - but *_insanely_* inspiring? I don't think so. Better word selection required, I think.
These girls are AMAZING!!!! It's nice to see then standing up for what's right and not backing down for any reason. It really got me thinking about the changes we can make at home. I'm so happy the girl in Africa got her water catchment system! I can't wait to see what else these girls do!
This gives me so much hope for the future. Thank you for this documentary
DEAR SABYAH WHITE:
If you are reading me, let me tell you that I believe in you. You are brilliant and in the future you will inspire other generations, I am sure of it :). You are the change that this world needs. "It is very lonely fight but it’s a fight we really need to do". Regards from Colombia - South America
As an Indonesian.. I tear when i see my beautiful country have a lot trash from other country especially from europe.. Unfortunetly the goverment have'nt recycle the trash very well.. And many people throw the trash to the river and some people burning it.. I hate this situation.. And must stop..
It's time to more awareness about our environment.
This one has been there before but got removed (while I was viewing it). I did shed some tears then. Will view it to the end now, but a bit worried I will cry again. Cry of pain, cry of hope. It was at least very touching... Worried but curious about this new version.
I suppose it would work better for me with proper subtitles. But if you let it come to you as an impressionistic artwork, you don't need to understand every word that is said. The message is clear.
By now there is no turning back: I am a DW-fan.
happy and at the same time sad, I was Fatoumata's teacher. a very intelligent and studious girl who was given in marriage by her father, a few weeks after the filming of the documentary. Early marriage, another scourge to be fought in the Fulani community in Senegal
Oh no! Please contact @DW Documentary so they can follow up with her. Maybe they can help her?
terrible practice in some countries arranged marriages. well who ever married that sweet but resilient girl has his hands full , so to speak. she is a fighter , i doubt she will ever accept being dominated by anybody. maybe her husband is a good a human being as that sweet songbird.

I've been cleaning my neighborhoods for over 20 years. I've seen more adults litter than children.💯😓
Used to get up at 5:30 (in the tropics sun comes up the same time evey day) to go shoot baskets at the school until the sun popped, then walk around the whole athletic area, picking up trash, enough to fill a burn barrel, so the school kids would come to school with everything cleaned. I even replaced the basketball netting and cleaned the toilets. And every morning the trash was right there again, everywhere, and toilets overrunning with sh't as usual. Every day for three years, until I quit.
One of the biggest mysteries of the world - how is it possible that the harder the life circumstances are, the cleaner the clothes are for those who live in those circumstances. This has been puzzling me for almost the entirety of my 40 years. Hope the girl got her water tank - and is continuing on her dream to become a doctor. Best wishes from Latvia. Once again thanks to Deutche Welle for the initiative and high quality of filmmaking.
Love this, hope they continue to fight for a better world as should we all! We all deserve a clean world and opportunity to grow.
Appreciated their hard work 😊.

Amazing. We should emulate those children. We should act to protect the environment and our children's future. We haven't got time to lose.
Wooooow what an awesome documentary, well done to the girls, they are the future for humanity ❤️🇳🇿
I just loved to watch that how even our children is becoming aware about the climate change reasons... The Australian girl criticised her government for allowing Adani group to work in their country .. Good job girls
We all need to be more educated in our environment. For so long we have lived in a society where money seems to matter more than anything else. I hope humanity will find a balance where we all can live and prosper while protecting our only planet we call home.
I so love this documentary. Thank you once again DW Documentary... Cried seeing what others around the world are going through.
These kids are the ones that's gonna makes the world a better place
Not if they can’t get into positions of power like every single generation of good people before them.
It is crazy how these small girls can have huge impact on our world.
Very inspiring and beautifully directed documentary. Thanks for sharing it with the world for all of us
Thanks for the positive feedback. We appreciate it.

I love these girls for making a move🥺🧡 God bless them
I really appreciate DW becoz these types of messages are really good for our society and especially for our next generation.
Secondly I appreciate thanks to these Girls and their ideas to climate change . When I watching this so many things in my mind like what will future of our children and how they will survive.
I give my little opinion to our society and government also firstly we must take seriously action towards the climate change and UN and other big origination of our world thoughts about it otherwise we always sees climate summits held but their outcome is zero...............
Thank you so much to Dw for broadcasting this and showing these girls hard work to spread knowledge and educate people on how dire the situation of saving the earth really is. ‼️☮️💜 it’s sad really that not enough people care especially since we all live on earth.

Everything comes down to money unfortunately. Until we humans learn to appreciate that the best things in life are free and to treat others the way we want to be treated, I'm afraid we are doomed!😔

It seems so tragic, these beautiful children have to spend the best years of their live worrying about the survival of our planet.
We will never eliminate waste, things always wear out. We need "clean waste", things that can be thrown out with minimal damage. So, no more plastic.
This video was uploaded some weeks back and why again?

Who is causing this climate crisis, not poor countries!
I can’t get why some people are putting millions or billions of dollars if you will into something thing like flying to Mars while their own habitat planet is suffering for droughts caused by global warming.
So if life gets wiped out on earth from war there are people on Mars...like a seed bank but with people instead .

Did these guys who are burning the stubble never hear of a thing called a Tractor pulling a plow?
Adults supposed to teach good principles to children, and we're seeing the opposite, we're living in a shallow society, everyone can and should take action and understand where we're heading.
I don’t inderstand why are they burning the fields in Punjab , can they not feed the leftovers to the cattle. Im sure some animal can eat those leftovers
I hope people of USA and EUROPE feel that slap in their face when that 9 year old read their countries name. SHAMELESS...I fail to understand how they or others refer them as 'DEVELOPED.'
Burning off stubble is a major pollutant. The answer is managed grazing of stubble with herbivores. Simple as it feeds the soil, feeds the cattle or others and removes pollution...... Cattle may be revered so feeding them with stubble is only a natural respect for their need for food?
I'm no farmer, No expert, but what would it mean to bury it - on the ground where it is produced?
Edit: I mean, mix it with the soil.
I'm saddened that children have to deal with adult problems. I am also grateful that these are the future leaders of Earth who will do things differently and hopefully save our planet. Greed is a terrible thing. Governments have no business making bad deals using tax payers money.
The dumbest and frankly most irresponsible thing anyone can do now is have a child; by bringing life into this world, you're adding one more soul who will suffer through the climate collapse.
We all need to do one thing. At least 1 thing. Recycle that glass etc respect the environment
Can we have all the adults decision maker list out globally, to allow people know who can do better but didn’t? Because to have big population change life style maybe difficult but the organisations putting profit against environmental issues needs to be listed out !!
Ko bisaaaa video yang kaya gini ngga viral 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
When I was a boy, drinks came in deposit bottles. There were never any bottles on the side of the road because we would gather them up and get the deposit on them. MAny is the day that I would drag a bag full of bottles down to thee store and get the deposit to supplement my meager allowance. I still buy glass bottles but only certain states will pay the deposit. I prefer the taste. I also like te Cokes that come fromMexico because they use cane sugar. I dont mind paying extra. Yes I didnt see can drinks until I went in the Navy in 69. I was in Alaska and thats all they had. Plastic soft drink bottles are the worst.
You do know that distance to the sun and solar activity is the main contributor on how the seasons behaves. Another big factor is geo engineering and deforestation.
So, you are saying that the sun was way away from earth under the ice age? Or much closer in warmer periods?

India is Capitalist. China is UBER Capitalist. Russia is Capitalist. Not sure you understand the real issue is NOT capitalism.
@@robertmarmaduke9721 Quite so. It's currently fashionable to blame capitalism for all our ills, ignoring the reality that it's the only economic model that offers a way out and upwards, away from whatever shitty fix we currently find ourselves in. I have always believed that capitalism is the only viable option for anyone with ambitions of self-improvement firstly for him/herself then the family and finally the society that gave birth to the model. The observant will have noticed that I have made no mention of regulations or controls over the ravenous monsters of the free market and that will be my next topic for discussion.
Your representation of India's map is like Germany's map without the Bavarian region.
24:00 Uh dude. You can just buy Ladybugs. You don't need pesticide then. The biggest problem i see is you trying to water your plants in Sunlight. You know you aren't suppose to give plants water and sunlight at the same time right? That's why when it gets dark when it starts to rain. Plants close their leaves to absorb water. They cant do both at the same time. That is why your crops are dying.
Ladybugs work great but only on some pests.
@@jonathanlehr9206 Well, its a start. There are other things that need to be done but there are natural ways.
