Fender's ace Johnny Marr Jaguar is now available in Sherwood Green Metallic. Back in late 2011 we caught up with Johnny and celebrated guitar tech Bill Puplett, who talked us through the development of the signature instrument.

Any guitarist that has signature gear needs to watch this, and realise this is what a signature model guitar should me. Johnny Marr's clearly put a lot of thought into how he wanted to improve the Jaguar, or mod it to better suit his (and maybe others) needs. It's more than some have (I'm looking at you, Joe Bonamassa)
The crown jewel of my guitar collection no question. Pretty much a custom shop guitar. Not a single ounce of fat, not a single thing out of place, and not a single compromise. Perfect 10 out of 10 guitar.
I own one. My favourite guitar by a mile. Great fun.
Besides the (obviously) great playing, one of the best things about this vid is the way Marr says "filter"… just makes me happy. :)
You can definitely tell Johnny Marr put his passion on designing this guitar. I will definitely be picking one up in the future.

Bill Puplett is an absolute diamond, no disrespect to Johnny but would have been great to hear more from Bill as well, the man is such a talent and must have so much to tell.
I love bright tones. So a guitar that is 'bright' or sounds bright rather , is a good thing in my opinion.

I love how on Johnny Marr's guitar signature decal is displayed on the front and J Mascis' is on the back. It speaks to their character, i think.

Well done with the changes on the Jaguar which is a shorter scale guitar than ES-335 that Johny Marr used to play in the 80s but I think that the best guitars for the nowadays are these with the split coil switch from a humbucker to single.
